The sky had already turned violent.
Dark clouds churned above the mountains like a boiling sea, and lightning flashed again and again inside them.
Then—
BOOM!
A massive bolt of thunder crashed down from the clouds.
Before the echo of that strike could fade—
BOOM!
Another followed.
Then another.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
The sky looked as if it had gone mad.
Blinding pillars of lightning fell one after another, striking toward Vivian with terrifying speed.
But every time a bolt came down—
A massive black serpent twisted through the air.
Bloody Mary moved like a shadow slicing through the storm.
His long body curved sharply through the sky, his huge wings beating hard as he avoided the falling thunder.
One bolt tore past Vivian's shoulder.
Another exploded against the clouds behind them.
Another struck so close that the heat of it burned the air.
Still—
Bloody Mary kept dodging.
Left.
Right.
Up.
Down.
