"You don't have to," Emilia said, lifting her face toward the room they had just exited from.
"What is that room?"
Lucas's thoughts shifted, his shoulders stiffening.
"Why are you so angry about me looking at the mirror?"
"Why would you not let me look at the mirror?"
Lucas rubbed his temple.
"It is only a mirror," he answered.
Emilia's brows shot up.
"Why then am I not allowed to look at it?"
Lucas exhaled slowly, unwilling to explain it to her.
"Eat. Then return to your chambers," he said instead.
Emilia's chest tightened.
"Why? You wanted us to be honest with each other?"
Lucas ignored her, turning aside to leave first.
Emilia scoffed, infuriated by his cowardice.
She picked up the bowl before he could bolt out of the room and let it fall to the ground.
Liquid splashed across the floor.
"I refuse to eat this."
Lucas turned, startled.
Emilia stood to her feet, careful not to step on the pieces, and stood in front of him.
"Forget everything I just said."
