Blaze didn't go straight back to the office. Instead, he had the driver leave first and drove himself to the bar Joey usually hung out at.
Pushing open the door to the private room, a heavy mix of perfume and alcohol hit him, almost choking him. Joey's circle of friends didn't recognize Blaze and eyed him with suspicion.
Blaze strode straight to the sofa and yanked the drinking Joey out of the room, with enough force to sober him up halfway.
"One thing—have Marylin move into your place."
Facing Blaze's icy glare, Joey split his lips into a dumb smile, unsure if he was sober or not. "Marylin and I… we broke up. That night in Alaska…"
"Broke up? After chasing her all these years, you broke up?"
"I'm not worthy of her." Without Blaze's support, Joey collapsed to the floor, shaking his dreadlocks. He looked utterly disheveled, like a homeless wanderer. "I faltered, I touched other women… I'm not worthy of her. Better to let her go early."
