Chapter 309 - Chapter 309 The Twelve Golden Palaces

Previously, Gale had been too busy with various matters to focus on the development of the Hall of Valor.

Now that the Hall of Valor was right before him, it would be inexcusable not to pay attention.

Parking the Sun Temple above the new Hall of Valor, Gale teleported inside.

Axi and the Valkyries saw Gale and immediately knelt on one knee, saluting him, "Welcome, Your Majesty."

Some of the Spirits recognized Gale, while others did not. Regardless, they all followed Axi and the others in saluting, expressing their highest respect to Gale.

Gale returned the greeting, then looked at the familiar faces among the Spirits.

There was Huln Highmountain and his son Lete Highmountain, Hothman Thoridan, Igrul—heroes from the War of the Ancients—as well as the Earth Spirits of the Kaldorei Empire whose lives were shortened by the flesh curse, and Bearman warriors who had fallen in battle against the Drakkari Trolls.

Gale reminisced about past experiences, "I never expected to see so many old friends here, and it is a great honor to fight alongside you all."

Huln, Hothman, and the others were also emotional, "The honor is ours!"

These veteran heroes who had participated in the War of the Ancients with Gale held him in high esteem. Now, joining the Hall of Valor, they were even more willing, even helping Axi discipline the mindless newcomers.

Axi walked over, respectfully lowering her head, "Your Majesty, the Hall of Valor currently has 3,652 Spirits, including Humans, Tauren, Drogbar, Bearman, Vrykul, Earth Spirits, and Tuskarr. Their professions include Warriors, Paladins, Druids, Rangers, Shamans, Mages…"

After listening to Axi's introduction, Gale finally realized that the current Hall of Valor had become a formidable force, no longer as weak as the original Hall of Valor.

Spirits inherently possess holy attributes and can use Holy Light in combat. With a little modification, they could serve as guards for the Sun Temple.

Then, to make them a set of armor…

A cartoon image suddenly popped into Gale's mind. It was from a long time ago for him, but it could vividly describe the development direction of these Spirits.

Golden Saints!!!

Imagine the Spirits in golden armor, forming the Golden Zodiac guards! How incredibly cool would that be?!

Gale said, "I plan to select a group of Spirits to guard the Sun Temple."

Axi looked a bit troubled, "Your Majesty, although these Spirits are already very powerful, they may not be able to withstand the temperature of the Sun Temple. I heard that the Sun Temple occasionally travels near the sun, which is not friendly to the Spirits."

Gale nodded, "That is true, but I will find a way to solve it. What you need to do now is to select twelve leaders for me to lead these guards."

"That many?" Axi was troubled again, "There are indeed some Spirits who can serve as leaders, such as Huln, Hothman, Igrul, Sorey—"

"Sorey? Sorey Whispersong?" Gale interrupted Axi.

"Precisely!"

Gale paused, then realized. This former follower of Axi should now be over a thousand years old. Given the lifespan of a Bearman, he should have died long ago, unless he chose to use magic to extend his life. It seemed he had not done so.

Axi: "After Sorey Whispersong became chief, he vigorously fought against the Drakkari Trolls, engaging in hundreds of battles throughout his life, forcing the Drakkari Trolls to retreat into Zul'Drak, unable to take a single step out. Later, as he grew old and slow, he was assassinated by a Drakkari Shadow Hunter during a battle due to excessive mana consumption."

He died in battle?

Gale looked around, "Why haven't I seen him?"

"He is currently leading new Spirits on an outdoor training exercise."

Gale nodded, acknowledging Sorey's abilities. Then he asked, "Are there any other individuals who can serve as leaders?"

"There's half of one…" Axi hesitated, "Bel Frosthoof is strong enough, but he lacks experience in command."

"Venas's adventure companion?"

"That's him. Bel gained experience during his adventures and is outstanding among the newly promoted Spirits. However, during adventures, it was often Venas and Nate who made the decisions, so he doesn't have much ability in strategy."

"Let's count him for now!"

This wasn't the first time Gale had a shortage of suitable people, and besides, it was just for guard captains; command ability wasn't necessarily a must. Powerful strength, however, was indispensable.

With that, there were only five captains, not even half. After thinking for a moment, he realized he also needed someone familiar with the Hall of Valor's affairs.

"Recall Heimdall, and put Viranus in command of the Eternal Knight Order."

Counting Heimdall, that made six people. The Golden Zodiac now had half its captains, perfect for each to temporarily lead two squads.

In fact, Lete Highmountain should also be considered a captain, but both men tacitly avoided bringing it up. Although they were just guard captains, neither Gale nor Axi wanted to see any single faction or race occupy too many positions.

A Kaldorei-dominated world had already formed, and any hidden dangers that could shake this foundation were not allowed. If not for the Kaldorei being long-lived, rarely choosing to become Spirits after death—instead becoming liches or sprites—those who did become Spirits were only slightly powerful, promoted by Axi through special exception, and not outstanding among other Spirits.

Otherwise, the remaining six captains would all be Kaldorei.

Axi said, "Your Majesty, why not select some outstanding individuals from among the liches to promote…?"

Gale waved his hand, "Liches have their uses. The Spirits here are simply accumulating strength for now."

"But what about the remaining captains? This situation is difficult to resolve."

Gale thought for a moment, then suddenly asked, "Is it true that any Kaldorei soul can be promoted to a Spirit?"

"Not necessarily; it depends on their strength. If they are too weak, promoting them to a Spirit would be a waste."

"Don't worry about strength!" Gale smiled, "His strength will definitely surpass most of the Spirits here, even if he died over a thousand years ago."

Axi was stunned, deep in thought. A Kaldorei who died over a thousand years ago, yet still able to defeat most of the Spirits here, surely wouldn't be an unknown figure.

"Are you referring to… him?"

"Precisely!"

Gale smiled, "If he is promoted to a Spirit, he can absolutely serve as a leader. My old friend has been lost for a long time; it's time for him to awaken."

"I will arrange the promotion ceremony immediately."

The Spirit promotion ceremony was complex and required a lot of energy, especially Sun God Power, which was essential.

Gale went to observe; he also needed to prepare the transformation ritual to turn the Spirits into Sun Guards. This was not as simple as merely converting Holy Light Power into Sun God Power; it also required the assistance of numerous runes, and even one mistake could kill the transformer.
