Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SEVEN: KEEP THE BATTLE GOING DON.

After a long, exhausting hour at the café, Kai wandered home alone, his vibrant purple hair catching the flickering neon lights.

The sun blazed overhead, so fiercely that he had to squint and close his eyes for a moment.

"When I get home, I'm going straight to bed and marry it," he muttered with a tired grin, imagining the bliss of slipping into his pillow and blanket.

But fate had other plans that day. Suddenly, a piercing scream shattered the air—sharp, desperate, and full of terror.

"Monsters!!" the cry echoed through the street like a curse.

Kai froze mid-step, heart pounding. Without hesitation, he spun around and headed toward the chaos.

What he saw was disturbing in a way that made his stomach churn—yet oddly fascinating. A towering demon, not ugly but terrifying in its presence, loomed at the center of the chaos.

Its skin was a slick, oily black, shimmering faintly like oil on water, with veins of pulsating crimson running beneath.

Its eyes burned with a vicious, glowing green, like emerald flames in the darkness.

Sharp, jagged horns curled from its forehead, twisting backward like cursed spirals.

Its long, sinewy limbs moved with a predatory grace, and its claws gleamed with deadly intent.

Surrounding it were lesser demons—some with elongated limbs, others with scales that shimmered like obsidian, some with twisted, monstrous faces, all snarling and clawing at terrified townsfolk.

They moved like a chaotic swarm of nightmares, hungry and relentless.

Kai gulped, feeling a cold sweat bead on his forehead. "Oh Gosh Dad's so cruel… It's not even been three weeks," he muttered, shaking his head in disbelief.

Suddenly, a gentle tap on his shoulder made him jump. He spun around—and there stood Leo, smirking confidently, his wolf ears twitching upright, an amused glint in his eyes.

"Ready, bro?!" Leo asked with a teasing grin, hands on his hips.

Kai's lips curled into a grin, adrenaline surging. "Always," he muttered lazily, then with a flick of his wrist, turned toward the chaos.

The demon turned its glowing eyes toward them—slowly, mockingly. "Who, me?" it rumbled, voice deep and gravelly, dripping with menace.

Leo ran a hand through his silvery hair, smirking.

"Then who are we talking to Demon Don't be so stupid you're better than that?" he shot back, flexing his claws slightly.

His wolf ears twitched with excitement, like he was ready for a game.

The demon's massive claws clenched. "And who might you be?" it growled, voice low and menacing.

Kai tilted his head lazily smirking. "That doesn't matter," he said coolly, voice dripping with attitude.

"What matters is—you're not welcome here. So, you'd better skedaddle before things get messy."

The demon's lips curled into a wicked grin. "The Demon Lord Zarathor sent me here to fight the prince. So, I assume you're him?"

He stepped forward, eyes narrowing with a predatory gleam. "But… you don't look much like a demon. Your genes didn't work"

''Let me fix that'' Kai said briefly.

Kai's smirk widened as he drew his sword with a flourish. The blade shimmered with an otherworldly glow—iridescent hues of deep purple swirling into bright white, like the cosmos itself had been woven into steel.

His clothes changed in an instant: what was once simple armor became an elegant, regal ensemble.

A flowing coat of midnight purple with swirling white embroidery, resembling constellations in the night sky, draped over his shoulders.

Silver accents and glowing runes traced the fabric, pulsing with a faint luminescence.

His boots gleamed like polished obsidian, and a silver belt with a glowing gem at its center completed the look.

Leo tilted his head, eyes glinting with mischief. "Oh boy… this is going to be legendary Should I even transform?," he whispered, barely able to contain his excitement.

Kai raised his sword, adopting a confident, commanding stance. "Are you ready, demon?" he challenged, voice deep and raspy, like a storm brewing.

The demon, Don, grinned wickedly. "Don. And you?"

Kai struck a dramatic pose, sword held at the ready, leaning slightly on one leg.

"Kai Zarathor," he said with a sly smirk. "And I hope you brought your A-game."

Leo chuckled beside him, cracking his knuckles. "And I'm Leo Zarathor. Let's turn this into a show."

Don's grin stretched ear to ear, arrogance radiating from his voice. "Ah, you're so confident. There are only two of you, and many of us," he declared proudly, eyes gleaming with malicious delight.

"Just let us destroy all humans here, and we won't have to shed any of your blood." He took a slow step forward, the shadows swirling around him, embodying menace.

Leo chuckled darkly. "We might be two, Don. But we're more powerful than your entire army," said, voice low, almost purring with confidence.

Kai's smirk didn't waver either.

He lazily tapped Leo's shoulder, signaling him to get ready. "Leo, show them what you got," he whispered with a sly grin.

Leo nodded, a wicked glint flickering in his eyes. He shifted his stance, then suddenly began to move with incredible speed.

His leg kicked back in a swift, practiced motion, then he burst into action.

His eyes began to glow with an eerie, luminescent light—bright and electric, like twin stars igniting.

His fangs sharpened into deadly points, gleaming menacingly. His hair shot up as if electrified, standing on end, crackling with static.

His wolf ears twitched in a rapid, rhythmic pattern, sensing the chaos around him.

In one fluid motion, Leo's claws extended—long, razor-sharp talons, gleaming like polished obsidian, each one twice the length of a dagger.

His entire form radiated raw, savage power. Then, with a feral growl, he shot forward like a streak of lightning.

He moved faster than the eye could follow—blurring across the battlefield. In a single, fluid strike, he tore through the demons with ease, like a whirlwind of claws and fury.

Claws slashed through flesh and bone effortlessly; enemies that seemed formidable crumpled into heaps of ash and smoke in seconds.

His speed was astonishing—he didn't break a sweat, didn't tire, and left a trail of stunned demons in his wake as if they were nothing more than mere paper dolls.

The demons didn't stand a chance against his ferocity—Leo was a whirlwind of chaos, an unstoppable force. He moved like a shadow, darting in and out, shredding everything in his path with brutal efficiency.

Don's eyes widened in surprise, genuinely impressed. "Hmm… interesting," he muttered, voice amused yet wary.

"How did he knock out all my demons so easily? I'm terrified" he mused, rubbing his chin.

With a flick of his hand, Don's eyes gleamed with dark fire.

"Let's see if you can beat me, I am the strongest—I've risen above all others. That's why Zarathor himself chose me. Because I am the pinnacle of power." he whispered, a sinister grin curling his lips.

Suddenly, with a sharp motion, Don materialized a blazing sword engulfed in crimson, flickering with flames that licked hungrily at the air.

"You called this for yourself," he sneered, flicking his fingers in a commanding gesture.

In an instant, more demons appeared—twisted and monstrous, swirling out of the shadows like a living storm.

They snarled and snapped, eager for blood, their eyes burning with rage.

Leo, sensing the surge of enemies, took a cautious step back, claws still shimmering with residual energy.

"Okay, more fun," he said with a grin, tail flicking. "Kai, what will we do?" he asked, not scared but genuinely amused by the chaos.

Kai looked up at the sky—once shining bright, now darkening with ominous clouds swirling overhead. The wind picked up, whipping his coat and hair around him like a storm.

"Leo, you deal with the demons," Kai said coolly, eyes glowing faintly with power.

"I'll handle that big, ugly Hobo."

Leo nodded, determination in his eyes. "Less talk, more fighting," he muttered with a grin, claws flickering with anticipation.

Kai's lips curled into a confident smirk. He drew a deep breath, the wind tugging at his hair and coat, as his eyes burned with a fierce, unyielding light.

"Let's make this a battle to remember," he murmured, voice low and steady, while the chaos of magic and monsters swirled all around him.
