Chapter 41 - Nutcracker

"Good to know we are on the same page," David said before he released his grip on Willik's neck and let go of him completely. Willik sighed softly in relief, his body relaxing for just a brief moment… before a slap landed hard across his face.

Instantly, Willik's body jumped violently into the air, his movements almost like a fish thrashing out of water, as he began moving around wildly and madly, doing anything and everything he could think of to make the overwhelming pain lessen even slightly.

But the pain never lessened, not even a little bit. Even as time passed, seconds turning into minutes, the pain remained just as strong and intense as when the slap first connected.

For some reason that Willik couldn't understand, the pain only grew worse with each passing moment, the agony increasing and building, causing him to quickly try and kill himself to escape it.

He slammed his head violently against the hard ground over and over again, screaming his lungs out as he desperately tried to die and end the suffering… but he was a god, an immortal being, so how could he possibly die from something so simple?

This was David's slap without any of his usual restraint holding it back, something he had specifically created and designed for beings that were immortal and annoyed him. The pain would never lessen or fade away over time, and it would just keep growing and intensifying after he slapped them.

It would eventually reach a point when the pain became so overwhelming and all-consuming that it would overwhelm the mind completely to the point that the mind could no longer control the body properly.

"Does someone have a spell that can allow me to breathe in outer space?" David asked, his eyes looking towards Doctor Fate and the other magic users gathered. Honestly, wasn't Doctor Fate supposed to be some overpowered higher-dimensional being with incredible abilities? Why was he appearing so weak in this fight?

"I can do that much," Nabu said awkwardly, noticing and feeling how David was looking directly at him with expectation. It wasn't his fault that his current vessel was growing weak and couldn't handle more power. If someone like Zatanna were to put on the helmet instead, then he could fight at his full potential.

"I thought the battle was over?" Shazam asked in genuine confusion, as he was absolutely sure he had seen Darkseid's face get completely caved in from David's attack.

"For some reason, he is healing from everything I throw at him, no matter how deally. If I were at one hundred percent of my strength and power, I could just one-shot him and end this, but that would end the universe… what a pain," David said with frustration, nodding his head towards Nabu in acknowledgment. Nabu cast a spell on him in response, causing a shimmering golden aura to cover David's entire body, giving him the power to breathe in the vacuum of outer space.

"That means he isn't in control of his avatar anymore." Nabu was about to launch into an explanation of what was happening, but Aurelie spoke first before he could continue, drawing everyone's immediate attention to her. Her allies and fellow Female Furies looked at her with expressions of betrayal on their faces, but she ignored their stares completely.

"We are gods, we can't truly be killed in the permanent sense since what you see here standing before you are merely avatars, physical manifestations of our true selves. Our true bodies exist in a higher plane of existence beyond your reach. Most likely, Darkseid's true body and consciousness is what is in control of the avatar now, and for that specific reason, no matter how many times you damage that avatar's body, it's completely pointless since he can always just heal it back to perfect condition. It's also the reason why he is getting stronger with each exchange." She explained carefully, making David click his tongue in annoyance and frustration at this revelation.

"How about the Lords of Chaos?" David asked, raising his arm to point towards the Lords of Chaos, who were still rolling around on the ground in agony as the pain from his slap wasn't disappearing or fading.

"That I don't know for certain…" She said honestly, her eyes looking at how the Lords of Chaos desperately wanted to flee back to the higher dimension where they belonged, only to fail repeatedly in their attempts, as David seemed to have somehow trapped them here in this dimension.

"Well, can you guys look after them for me? I don't want them to start jumping me again while I'm dealing with Darkseid." David said, turning towards Doctor Fate and the other magic users, who nodded their heads seriously in understanding.

"To think you would betray me like this," Darkseid said with anger dripping from every word, appearing in the sky above them with his hands clasped behind his back in that superior posture.

"Imagine being the true form of some god and yet still getting your ass kicked by a being from a lower dimension who isn't even at one hundred percent of his strength... couldn't be me," David said, struggling to hold back a laugh that threatened to burst out.

Darkseid paused for a long second and looked down at David standing below… he felt rage building inside him? When was the last time someone had made him feel this angry?

"Then imagine still putting on an act even after all that. Look at him standing there with his hands behind his back and everything." David burst into genuine laughter, and slowly, Darkseid's entire body began to shake and tremble with barely contained fury.

"Imagine existing for what? Millions of years or maybe even more, yet in the end, getting beaten down by a person who would never live long enough to see even one thousand years… oh god, this is just embarrassing for you... couldn't be me." David said mockingly, his words dripping with sarcasm. The statement made Superman and the other heroes want to reach forward and cover his mouth to stop him from antagonizing Darkseid further.

"I don't see why they call you a god, so I will just call you a higher-dimensional being instead. You bring shame upon that word… then again, what's so high or elevated about you? So, I will call you a mortal instead. I don't want to confuse you with anyone actually powerful and worthy of respect. That would be embarrassing to those who actually deserve it." David said with a grin. Instantly, both he and Darkseid disappeared from sight, both moving so incredibly fast that no one watching knew what had happened - to their eyes, it looked like they had simply teleported away.

But what had actually happened was quite simple: Darkseid had moved to attack in his rage, but David had moved even faster despite his exhaustion and had quickly sent Darkseid flying into outer space with a powerful strike. From there, they both quickly left the entire Galaxy behind them. How was David moving so fast? Simple - he was using lightning to enhance and boost his speed beyond its normal limits.

Nabu waved his hands in the air, casting a complex spell on the cameras following David, buffing them magically to be able to record David even with him being so incredibly far away in the depths of space. He also cast another spell, having a large screen appear in the air which showed the battle taking place in real-time.

Of course, he had to use some additional magic to make sure he and everyone watching could actually see what was happening, since the battle would be moving far too fast for normal perception. So, with some careful time manipulation magic, spatial magic, and reality-bending magic all working together, they were able to watch the battle unfold.

"You know, I thought I was ugly, but after seeing you, I feel better about myself," David said mockingly, his tone casual in the most insulting way possible. Honestly, Darkseid never knew how to react to David's words. It wasn't even just the insult—it was the ease with which David delivered it. David just knew how to enrage him to the point he felt an anger no one out there had ever made him feel.

"You're ugly and weak. What type of god are you? A god that embodies what no one wants to be… haha, couldn't be me," David continued, letting out a laugh he clearly tried to hold back, like the punchline was too good to keep contained. The restraint only made it worse, as if Darkseid wasn't even worth the full laugh.

With a flash of movement, Darkseid rocketed toward him, unable to take this disrespect anymore. The voiditself seemed to twist from the speed of it, a straight-line burst meant to erase David from the space he occupied. But David was ready; he used Blue, the pull yanking him away at the last instant, sliding him out of the path of the attack like he'd anticipated it the entire time. The miss didn't calm Darkseid—it only sharpened the rage, because it made him look slow.

"I'm willing to bet my soul your mom is dead… how could a mother live with a failure like you?" David said, voice dripping with amusement, as if he was placing a casual wager instead of trying to stab at something personal.

"Imagine giving birth to a god, just for him to end up like this?" David laughed again, the sound cruel. Darkseid's fury swelled higher and higher, thickening with every word,

"As a conqueror, you're trash. As a god of evil, you're trash," David said, laying out the failures one by one like he was reading from a checklist.

"What are you good at?" The question hung there, rhetorical and cutting. "Humans honestly seem to be better than you in every sense of the word." David laughed, the sound echoing across the void.

The mockery caused Darkseid to roar, a sound that carried all the frustration of being talked down to by something he considered beneath him. But before he could move to lash out that anger, before he could channel it into action, David closed the gap between them in a blink.

The sudden reversal caught Darkseid off guard. His eyes widened as David spun his fist around in a wide arc, the motion showy, like how Gogeta did in his battle with Broly. Then the fist landed, driving deep into Darkseid's stomach with devastating force.

That single fist caused Darkseid's eyes to widen even further, the impact forcing the air from his lungs before he threw up violently. Inside his body, Red and Blue were causing absolute chaos, the two forces tearing at him from within, making him feel sick in a way he hadn't experienced in eons.

David gave Darkseid zero time to recover or even catch his breath. There was no pause, no moment to gather himself. The next instant, David's hand shot out and grabbed Darkseid's arm, yanking him forward into an elbow strike that slammed into the guts with brutal efficiency.

Again, he gave Darkseid no time to rest, no chance to mount any kind of defense. David pulled back his fist and began to kick Darkseid between the legs, targeting the most vulnerable spot with ruthless precision. He had Blue pull Darkseid's legs apart, forcing them out wide to give David more than enough room to hit the mark perfectly every single time. Each strike left Darkseid screaming, his voice raw with agony, with every kick that landed between his legs driving home the humiliation.

[Nutcracker] I approved

[The GreatSage] I can't watch this shit, it hurts

[Jonny Jonny] Lol, at least we have a hero out here playing smart. Gut punches followed by dick kicks, what is a better combo than that?

[I'm going to get Milk] This has to go against some type of bro code. Man, he is still going

[VoidEmperor] He raged, baited Darkseid, got an opening, and took it. Why isn't Judge giving me a reason to hate him? Let's call him the master of rage baiting.

The whole world was stunned by the sight playing out before them, frozen in a mix of shock and disbelief. Even someone like Batman, who had seen nearly everything, had to look away from the screen. Watching Darkseid's blood fill and drift through the void of outer space, watching as his genitals were destroyed again and again only for them to heal and be destroyed once more in an endless cycle, was… well, it was a harsh sight to watch, the kind that stuck with you.
