Chapter 28 - A conflict

(Almost half a day in the past)

Green Lantern broke through the surface of a hidden bunker with a huge drill as he landed inside, still carrying Lion in a small transparent cage.

Hal Jordan glanced around, seeing countless men bubbled in rather obviously small pink bubbles, many of them groaning in obvious pain from being forced in such a small space.

The unlucky ones had some bones dislocated. The lucky ones were unharmed but obviously in huge discomfort.

"Well, the good news is she isn't killing anyone… As for the injuries, Batman probably gives them worse than those on a good day, and besides, they deserve it."

Hal laughed at his own thought process, imagining Batman caving a man's teeth in before starting to question him. Hal shook his head as he glanced around.

Hal glanced at the bubbled men again before deciding to leave them as they were for now.

"Now where is that pink bundle of joy and gluttony?"

Green glow surrounded his body as he floated over the ground, taking Lion with him while he made his way deeper into the bunker.

(A few minutes later)

Green Lantern arrived at a huge open room filled with more bubbled men as he heard a sickening sound similar to twigs snapping, followed by laughter filled with madness.

He didn't need to look further as his eyes caught sight of his search objective.

Pink was standing in the middle of the large underground room. There were a few more bubbled men around, but Hal ignored their painful grunts as the bubbles tightened around them.

Hal dropped to the ground as he raised both hands, looking at Pink, who held the Joker by the neck, her grip tightening, while her other hand held a bloodied sword.

The Joker's body was mutilated, his right hand completely cut clean, his left hand twisted, completely broken, his face bloodied beyond recognition, if not for his pale skin and twisted smile that only showed the rows of now broken teeth.

Green Lantern immediately activated his ring as a huge glove formed in the air and held Pink before slamming her into the wall.

Hal forced a deep breath from his chest as he felt a small amount of guilt forming there.

"Maybe I should have bubbled the Joker instead of slamming her away… curse you, muscle memory."

"Now, Pink, I understand that he is disgusting, annoying, and everything between evil and malicious. Trust me, I know, but I am afraid that you are taking things a little too far."

Green Lantern landed between Pink and the now laughing Joker as he tried to reason with Pink, who was rising from the caved-in wall.

"Look, I know he made you angry… I think I have an idea of what he did, but you already beat him half dead, alright?"

Green Lantern started walking slowly with his hands raised, saying, "And besides, Captain Marvel has been worried sick since you disappeared. I heard he brought a new game that needs a second player."

"Look, Pink, you tried to help at the mall and it didn't work out, and your friend got hurt. Believe me, I get it, but you need to calm down… Look, I will drag the Joker and his men to jail personally, alright?"

Green Lantern was now close to Pink, who finally stood up as he glanced at her face, expecting to see the easy-going bundle of joy he and others in the League were used to.

But instead, he only saw two glowing, empty-looking irises that glanced down at him.

The gaze was disturbing in a strange way… It wasn't anger. It wasn't indifference. It wasn't stubbornness. No… It was superiority… As if a higher being was looking down on an ant that was stepping out of line.

On pure instinct, Green Lantern jumped backward, his ring flashing with energy as he propelled himself away.

Unfortunately for him, being tall meant a higher reach. Thus, Pink's hands gripped both his forearms, and with zero resistance, both of them snapped like a twig with a twist.

He felt a scream tearing through his throat as he forced his will to focus, making his ring glow as pure energy slammed Pink again into the wall, making it collapse on her.

With no hesitation, he pressed a button on his comms, signaling for support as he glanced at his hands, both twisted to terrifying angles.

While his focus was on Pink, who was rising from the rubble, he felt his cage construct start to crack. He turned his head with a glance, seeing Lion roaring waves of pink energy, making the construct surrounding Lion crack slowly.

"Oh yeah, almost forgot about that guy… maybe bringing him wasn't a good idea."

At the same time, both Pink rose up and Lion broke through the construct.

Pink's form under the rubble glowed slightly as strange pink structures started growing across the ground until every single one was an exact copy of Pink, each holding a transparent sword, a replica of Pink's weapon.

Green Lantern, now surrounded, felt his lips twitch…

"Since when can she do that?… And a two-against-one wasn't enough, so she made more?… Isn't that too much? You're angry at the Joker, yet you didn't do all of that with him, but with me, she goes all in? What? Does crazy Pink hate the color green? Is that it?!"

Green Lantern saw a few of the constructs turn to the Joker again as they started following him with single-minded determination.

Green Lantern wanted to help; after all, he didn't want Pink to kill someone while half crazy, but a single glance at his hands made him accept his state. "I am not exactly free to help him even if I wanted."

"And besides… There is something wrong with Pink, unless she has multiple personality disorder or she has obviously gone crazy."

Hal shook his head as he glanced at the original Pink, who ran at him with a raised fist.

He quickly formed a green shield surrounding him. Unfortunately for him, at the last second, Pink's fist became covered in a transparent sphere of vibration.

Once Pink's fist connected with the shield, cracks spread through the air as the underground bunker started falling apart while the ground shook with a terrifying earthquake.

The world around started shaking as Green Lantern, with his ring filled by his will, struggled to hold on as cracks spread across the shield before it broke apart completely.

Thankfully, Pink, maybe guided by some remains of her consciousness, canceled the sphere once the shield broke apart as it was replaced with a pink bubble that surrounded her fist and then connected to Green Lantern's chest.

Green Lantern felt agony in his chest as he heard something crack before numbness replaced it and his vision went dark.

Green Lantern was punched into the ground with his chest caved in.

One of the clones Pink made swung its sword as it cut the ring right off Hal Jordan's finger along with most of his fingers.

One of the copies picked the ring off the ground and then knelt in front of the original Pink, offering it.

Pink's glowing irises glanced at the ring, feeling its energy. Pink moved her hand as she took it, and with a curious gaze, her hand glowed with pink energy that started to seep slowly into the ring, making the green color change slowly to pink while the ring kept shaking, resisting whatever change was taking place.

Suddenly, the bunker ceiling completely fell apart as sunlight broke through, with two individuals arriving to witness the scene.

One gaze contorted in anger upon seeing Hal half dead, and it turned to pure rage when she witnessed Pink carrying the ring as if it were a battle trophy.

The other, a metallic red figure, glanced around with a cold, calculated mind.

The next second, Pink's free hand dropped the ring as she raised her hand, willing her shield to form, blocking a strike from an enraged Wonder Woman, causing the now half-pink colored ring to fall to the ground while it slowly returned to its original green, seemingly purging the invading energy from its system.

"What is the meaning of this, Pink?!"

While all the copies charged at Tornado with suicidal abandon, Lion started circling Wonder Woman from behind as she was still in a standoff with Pink.

Unfortunately for her, she didn't get any answer as Pink gripped her sword and met her blow for blow with pure sword skills.

Any blow deemed too strong was blocked by an unbreakable shield, while all other attacks were parried or redirected.

Wonder Woman was a formidable opponent; after all, she mastered ancient Amazonian techniques. She was experienced, and very few opponents could withstand facing her blow for blow without some trick.

Yet, to her absolute shock, Pink was almost on par with her. For the first time, Wonder Woman saw a different side of the naive Pink that spent all her time raiding the kitchen in the Watchtower with her pet.

Each swing, each clash was perfected. It wasn't a technique nor a skill; it was a type of swordsmanship born from time…

While Wonder Woman's sword skills came from training, Pink's sword skills came from spending centuries leading the Gem Rebellion. There were no rules to her style.

Pink's style of swordsmanship was unpredictable because it wasn't a style to begin with. It felt as if Pink was swinging randomly… It felt as if a child had no clue how to use a sword, but at the same time, that same child had used a sword on pure instinct for thousands of battles, for centuries…

A style born from no teachings, from no techniques, but from pure experience.

Wonder Woman already guessed Pink's fundamentals, but this didn't help her because every attack that passed was blocked by the shield, and the moment she showed any weakness, Pink pushed forward relentlessly.

The moment Wonder Woman attacked, Pink would focus on defense, and the moment she stopped, Pink charged at her with suicidal intensity.

In the end, you end up with a style born not from training but from time and sheer experience… Simple yet effective, annoying and unpredictable, yet unexpectedly with no flaws.

It was a style that only Pink Diamond could use, and combined with infinite endurance, super strength, and the unbreakable defense her shield had, it not only made Pink a formidable swordsman but also very dangerous in one-on-one battles.

After all, no matter how strong Wonder Woman was, she was still organic, and she would tire eventually.

And to the rising dread of Wonder Woman, who was hyper-aware of Lion eyeing her like prey, if Lion were to join, then Wonder Woman might be in trouble.

Wonder Woman expected an inexperienced opponent, just to find herself against a swordsman of terrifying experience.

Wonder Woman's eyes changed as she looked at Pink again. Her eyes finally started to see beyond the naive and childish impression of Pink Diamond that she had.

She finally started seeing how terrifying and versatile an opponent that naive, overgrown child was, so she forced her anger down and prepared for a serious fight.

Now completely focused, Wonder Woman understood that she was fighting something closer to an equal than she expected.

How good is this writing grammatically speaking?

(A/N): Zehahaha (evil laughter)

You didn't expect a chapter, did you? Well, I am a very stubborn person, so I refused to let the story rot, and here we are!

Now I have two or maybe three points I need help with.

First, I used a different method to, let's say, refine my writing grammatically speaking. So how does it compare to other chapters so I know to stick with it or not?

Second, the next chapters I will work on will be for my other work. Sombra has been waiting for too long. Who knows, maybe I will write two chapters for both works. I am certainly stubborn that way.

Third, thanks to everyone reading the story and wishing me good luck on my tests. I truly appreciate it, and a special shout-out to those who stuck with this story since the beginning. You shall not be forgotten.

Oh and I may or may not be thinking of starting a new story…The passion of writing sometimes burns bright..Nothing is decided till now but how. Does thragg sound?

Or maybe a custodian? Or Escanor? A system or without?

Dc or MHA?

Now, as much as I hate it, I am going to read medical terminology. So until then, goodbye.
