Chapter 80 - Chapter 80 Luke's Secret: Ghost One Prototype Armor

Luke was not wrong.

Linda was indeed afraid. The moment she set foot on the Fortress of Solitude, she recalled the days of wandering in the chaotic time and space. The experiences during that period could not be described in words.

Space travel is not as wonderful as imagined, especially when using space jump technology. Each jump is a journey of life and death. Black holes, dark matter energy zones, chaotic space, high-dimensional creatures that have existed for who knows how many years, etc. will all affect the jump. What the result will be depends entirely on luck.

To sum it up in one sentence, if you are lucky, you can go home for dinner; if you are unlucky, the whole village will come to your house for dinner.

Space jump is so terrifying.

Having had this experience once, Linda didn't want to go through it a second time. She needed someone to cheer her up. After much thought, the only person who came to her was Luke Xiao. However, this guy's personality was really unpredictable. In order to get him to agree, she could only resort to some unspeakable means.

In fact, when Linda said that, her heart almost jumped into her throat. She was worried about being rejected, and even more worried about making the other person angry.

This was her only friend.

"Talk, how long will it take? If it's more than three months, leave now. I don't have that much time to spend with you wandering the universe."

"It doesn't take three months, one month will be enough."

"A month? Are you sure?"

Linda nodded repeatedly. "The Fortress of Solitude has the most advanced space jump technology. From Earth to Krypton, it only takes two jumps, and each jump takes about six days. If everything goes well, we can be back in twenty-four days."

She didn't say anything more. The success rate of each jump is 85%, which means that the chance of no accidents occurring in a round trip is only half.

Of course, Linda would never say such a thing that would only shoot herself in the foot. Even if Luke asked, she would give a 100% answer because he didn't understand anyway.

Luke really didn't know how space jumps worked, and no one on Earth knew either.

"If it's a month, I can go with you, but you have to promise me something."

"What is it? Tell me."

Luke said seriously, "I want to learn the scientific knowledge of the Fortress of Solitude. No matter what I learn, you can't stop me. If there is anything I don't understand, you will be responsible for explaining it."

Linda frowned, with confusion in her eyes.

"I don't understand why you are so passionate about science and technology."

Luke shrugged. "Don't you think this world is too dangerous?"

"Technology brings danger. Without technology, there is no danger."

"Your words are like a Chinese proverb: A well-fed man does not know the hunger of a hungry man."

The girl blinked her eyes. What do you mean by "full man" or "hungry man"? That sounds weird.

"Forget it, I can't explain it to you. In a nutshell: the poor rely on mutations, the rich rely on technology. For an outsider like me, without any system, fragile as a piece of paper, yet still wanting to live a carefree life, a set of high-tech equipment is a necessity for home, travel, and even murder and robbery. Do you understand?"

Linda shook her head. "I don't understand."

"Forget it if you don't understand. Since we've decided to go to outer space, some things can't be hidden anymore. Take me to Seaside City."

"Now?"

"Yes, right now."

Linda didn't know what Luke was planning, but she thought it was not a good thing. So, considering that he had promised her, she reluctantly gave him a ride.

The speed of Kryptonians is not to be underestimated. The straight-line distance from Metropolis to Coast City is nearly 4,000 kilometers, which would take six hours even by plane. But at her full speed, it only takes a few minutes. The only drawback is that it is too cold and she shivers all over.

The two landed near the West Port Pier in Seaside City.

Luke opened the door of container No. 13 and pressed the hidden button above the shelf. The ground began to fall. After dropping about ten meters, the scene in front suddenly lit up.

The lights are shining,

An underground base nearly 100 meters long and wide emerged.

Luke spread his hands and smiled.

"Welcome to my secret base, Miss Danvers. You are the third human to set foot here, and the only female."

"Feel free to look around, feel free to touch, and tell me if you don't understand something, and I'll help you solve it."

Linda looked around curiously. The first thing that caught her eye was a row of super sports cars, including Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and other brands.

Then there were the various weapons and equipment on the racks: grenades, explosives, rockets and even an intercontinental missile.

Apart from the eye-catching gadgets, the rest is just equipment.

Dozens of instruments are divided into various parts, some of which look like lightning-making devices, some are like nuclear reactors, and there are also stamping machines, CNC lathes, high-end facilities for making precision instruments, high-temperature forging equipment, element analyzers, spectrometers, resonators, and so on.

After reading it, Linda was completely stunned. She couldn't understand what kind of freak would tinker with these things. He must be mentally ill!

Luke took a deep breath, his eyes filled with an intoxication that could not be concealed.

"Do you think it's cool? Am I amazing?"

Linda smiled awkwardly and wanted to complain, but she changed her words and said, "These instruments, sports cars, and guns must have cost a lot of money!"

"I've spent all my earnings here, nearly seven billion dollars, but unfortunately, it's not enough."

Luke shook his head helplessly. "Come with me, I'll show you this treasure."

The two walked through the corridor and came to the deepest secret room.

Turning on the lights, a mysterious ghostly metal armor came into view.

The entire armor is dark, but not reflective, showing a dull color. There are purple lines engraved on the shoulders and chest. The head is an inverted triangle with bulges on both sides of the top like two sharp blades. The shoulders are broad and slightly extend outward, making it look more heroic. The arms and legs are streamlined, not like metal, but more like polymer materials.

The whole set of armor gives a mysterious and cold visual feeling, just like facing a killer walking out of the dark abyss, which makes people tremble with fear.

Luke walked up to the armor and knocked on the chest twice.

"The world's greatest technological achievement, the Ghost No. 1 prototype armor, a one-of-a-kind existence."

"Isn't that cool?"

Linda swallowed her saliva, suppressed the shock in her heart and said,

"This is what you mean by the poor relying on mutations and the rich relying on technology."

Luke thought about it and nodded, "You can think so."

Linda took a few steps forward, carefully examined the armor from top to bottom, and said uncertainly,

"Are you sure it can protect you? To be honest, I don't think this pile of iron will be of any use."

Luke raised his brows slightly, "Want to try it?"

"How do you try?"

"Of course I'll try it with you."

"I?"

Linda pointed at herself and shook her head exaggeratedly, "Forget it. You don't know my strength. I don't even know how powerful my punch is."

"If it hits you, the plane will probably be destroyed and everyone on board will die."

Although it was not said explicitly, the contempt between the words could not be concealed.

Luke was not annoyed. He turned on the power source, put on the Ghost No. 1 prototype armor, and stood in front of Supergirl as the Iron Ghost.

"Come on, Miss Danvers, you won't die if you try."
