"Seventh Spirit Ability, Crimson Dragon True Body!"
Liu Erlong did not hesitate as she faced the dangerous wave of monsters. She activated her Martial Soul True Body immediately. In an instant, her body was covered in hot, burning dragon flames. She looked like a giant fire dragon standing in the middle of the forest. Her strength, speed, and defense grew much stronger than before.Â
"Roar!"
Liu Erlong let out a loud roar that sounded more like a beast than a human. Her hand was covered in dragon scales and burning with fire. She punched the Storm Devil Wolf that was leading the pack.
Boom!
The thousand-year Storm Devil Wolf did not even have time to scream. The fiery punch hit it so hard that it was covered in dragon flames and turned into charcoal instantly. But more Spirit Beasts were already coming.
Some of them were ten-thousand-year Spirit Beasts with very scary auras. They saw their friend die and became even more angry. Their red eyes were locked onto Liu Erlong because she was standing in their way.
Liu Erlong was not afraid. In her Crimson Dragon True Body form, she fought like a real fire dragon from the sky. She used her fists, her claws, and her tail to hit the beasts. She even breathed fire out of her mouth. She sent the Spirit Beasts flying and tore them into pieces. She was a one-woman wall of fire, trying to buy time for Tang San and Yu Xiaogang to escape.Â
The Sunset Forest was a mess of fire and blood. You could hear the roars of the beasts and the roars of the dragon everywhere. Liu Erlong was very strong, but there were just too many beasts. Her wall of fire was getting smaller as the beasts pushed closer.
The beast tide was like a flood that could not be stopped. She tried her best, but many fast Spirit Beasts were able to go around her. They started running toward Tang San and Yu Xiaogang with hungry looks in their eyes.
"Damn it! These beasts just won't quit!"
Tang San felt a cold wind behind him and cursed. He did not even look back as he threw his right hand behind him. Many thick vines of Blue Silver Grass shot out like snakes. They tried to wrap around the beasts that were chasing them.
"First Spirit Ability, Binding!"
"Third Spirit Ability, Spider Web Restraint!"
"Fourth Spirit Ability, Dark Prison!"
Even though he used his skills, there were still too many monsters. His Blue Silver Grass caught a few, but others just tore through the vines and kept coming. They only wanted to kill. Soon, a few fast thousand-year Phantom Leopards got through the grass. Their sharp claws were ready to hit Tang San and Yu Xiaogang.Â
"Get away from us!"
Tang San could not run anymore. A dark light came from his left hand. The Clear Sky Hammer appeared, and the strange white spirit ring was still on it. He did not have time to think. He put all his spirit power into the hammer and swung it at the leopards.
As the hammer moved, the white spirit ring started to glow. It looked sick and smelled bad. Then, something gross happened. The hammer did not hit with giant power. Instead, thousands of fat white maggots shot out of the light on the hammer. They poured out like water from a broken pipe and landed on the Phantom Leopards.
The maggots were not real bugs; they were made of gross energy. They stuck to the fur of the leopards and started to eat into their skin with a hissing sound. A terrible smell filled the air. It smelled like dead bodies and garbage.
"Ugh!"
Yu Xiaogang smelled it and saw the gross maggots. He was already weak and scared. He could not stop himself from throwing up over the side of his wheelchair. His face was green, and he felt like he was going to die from the smell.Â
The Phantom Leopards were also shocked. They were not afraid of fire or claws, but these maggots were too much. They stopped attacking and started rolling on the ground. They hissed in fear and tried to shake the gross things off their bodies.
"Ugh!"
Tang San himself also threw up on the ground. He looked at his Clear Sky Hammer. It was dripping with white maggots and smelled awful. At first, he was confused. Then, he felt a huge wave of shame and anger. His Clear Sky Hammer was supposed to be the best weapon in the world. Now, it was just a gross tool that sprayed bugs.
"Ah! Why? Why is my hammer like this?"
"Yu Xiaogang, what did you do to me?!"Â
Tang San screamed with rage. He swung the hammer again to hit the leopards. But every time he swung it, more maggots flew everywhere. It looked like it was raining maggots around him. This was his first spirit ability for the Clear Sky Hammer: Maggot Rain!
Tang San looked at Yu Xiaogang, who was still vomiting. He hated him so much. If there weren't so many Spirit Beasts around, he would have killed Yu Xiaogang with the hammer right then and there.Â
Just then, a blue and gold light appeared in the sky.
Tang Chen arrived and hovered in the air. He had followed the smell of blood and the sound of the fight. When he saw what was happening, he was very surprised. He looked at the Clear Sky Hammer in Tang San's hand. He saw the weak white spirit ring. He saw the maggots and smelled the air.
Tang Chen was a very smart man, but he had never seen anything like this. "What is going on? A Clear Sky Hammer with a ten-year white spirit ring?" he whispered to himself. "Did the spirit change? Or is it something else?"
He looked around the battlefield. He saw the piles of dead Spirit Beasts that Tang San had killed. He saw how cruel the killings were. Tang Chen's eyes became cold. He understood what happened.
"It looks like Tang San was killing too many Spirit Beasts for their bones. He was too mean, and now the forest is fighting back. He caused this beast tide," Tang Chen thought.
Then he looked at the gross hammer again.
"But why is the hammer so ugly? That white ring and those maggots... it is so gross," Tang Chen said in a deep voice. "Maybe he was too greedy. He tried to put a ring on the hammer too early and failed. He had to take a ten-year ring just to stay alive. Now the world's best spirit looks like trash."
"If the old leaders of the Clear Sky Sect saw this, they would be so angry they would wake up from their graves," Tang Chen said.
