"DXD: Transfer Student"Chapter 259: A Date with Akeno

Sairaorg's fighting spirit was nothing short of heroic, but Draconis Yi was simply in a league of his own.

From the very start, his magic outclassed Sairaorg's by a wide margin—there was never any real suspense to this match. Still, Draconis Yi believed a worthy opponent deserved respect. He fought seriously, displaying his true skill, never once holding back out of pity.

He kept just enough power in play to maintain control. Going all out wasn't even an option—if he let loose completely, a single sword swing might end things for good, and that wasn't the point of this battle.

Setting aside the big finishers, Draconis Yi was still, at his core, a high-class devil.

When Sairaorg forced himself upright again, Draconis Yi smiled and renewed his assault. This was a competition—if your opponent refused to surrender, you fought until one of you couldn't stand.

Sairaorg roared, stubbornly searching for a chance to strike back. Even battered and bruised, he refused to quit, always hunting for an opening.

But Draconis Yi gave him none. The technique he'd just mastered was simply unfair; he could sense every weakness in Sairaorg's defense as if they were written in neon. Every sword strike hit home, every attack was a critical blow.

At last, when Sairaorg staggered to his feet one final time, Draconis Yi closed in, sword raised—then stopped.

The blade hovered inches from Sairaorg's chest. Regulus, the lion king's axe, spoke in a mournful tone:

"That's enough, Draconis Yi-sama. My master… Sairaorg-sama has already lost consciousness."

Draconis Yi looked at Sairaorg, still standing but completely out cold, and nodded gently.

"Concede and withdraw. Get him medical attention, quickly. I'm sorry—he's incredibly strong, but I couldn't afford to hold back."

He meant every word. Even while suppressing Sairaorg, he knew that letting up for a second would give the lion king a chance to turn the tables.

The lion armor shimmered with tears. "Even so, my master was happy. He truly enjoyed fighting you."

"So did I."

Draconis Yi smiled, watching as Sairaorg was teleported away.

The broadcast announced the result instantly—the king had fallen, and the match was over.

Turning, Draconis Yi caught Rias's eye and gave her a quiet smile.

"I brought home the championship for you."

Rias was over the moon. Right there on the Underworld's live feed, she dashed across the stage and dove into Draconis Yi's arms.

"This is your reward," she whispered with a smile, and Draconis Yi didn't hesitate to enjoy her embrace.

A few seconds later, the two of them were teleported out, greeted by Akeno Himejima and the rest of the team.

"We did it~!" Rias cheered, beaming at Akeno and the others.

Akeno laughed, her voice soft but tinged with regret. "Ufufu, I never doubted you for a second. Though I do wish I'd managed to take out their Queen… I came up short at the end."

"With so few pieces, you all did brilliantly." Draconis Yi shook his head. He'd taken up most of the chessboard himself; thankfully, the Rating Game allowed for clones, which helped balance the numbers.

Just then, Sirzechs approached, smiling warmly.

"May I steal a moment? Draconis Yi, there's something I need to discuss."

Rias and the others bowed immediately. "Lord Lucifer."

"Please, go ahead," Draconis Yi replied.

"It's about your upcoming promotion exam, for you and your companions."

At this, Akeno and the others lit up with excitement.

Draconis Yi chuckled. "Finally, a promotion exam? I thought I'd be stuck as a low-class devil forever."

Sirzechs smiled, a hint of exasperation in his tone. "Given you've repelled fallen angel cadres and driven off the Khaos Brigade, you all qualify for high-class devil status. But no one expected you to rise so quickly—the official exam isn't scheduled for months."

Even the middle-class devil exam had been a special exception, arranged ahead of time just for Draconis Yi. Waiting for the high-class devil exam would've taken much longer.

"I'm not in a rush. Middle-class devil is fine." Draconis Yi grinned. Sure, being promoted meant he could finally assemble his own Peerage, but he wasn't desperate.

"Then it's settled," Sirzechs said. "We'll notify you of the details. The ceremony will be formal—venue, protocol, the works."

Once Sirzechs took his leave, a swarm of reporters descended. Draconis Yi wasted no time pushing Rias forward—he had no interest in dealing with the media, or pretending to be a model noble in front of the cameras. He'd learned the etiquette, but living it was another matter.

Rias shot him a helpless smile, then stepped up for the interviews.

After the chaos finally settled, everyone returned to the castle.

"Once the promotion exam's over, we'll finally get to relax," Rias said, already making plans. "Let's travel a bit afterward—how often do we get to visit the Underworld?"

"Ara ara, wonderful idea," Akeno chimed in. "But don't forget—Draconis Yi promised to spend a whole day on a date with me next!"

"…I remember. I never said you couldn't," Rias replied, her tone just a little sour. She'd been close with Draconis Yi plenty of times, but never had a real date.

Asia and the others wore matching expressions—even Koneko's face softened a little.

Draconis Yi suppressed a laugh. These girls were just too adorable.

So, the next day, Draconis Yi got ready for his date with Akeno.

He waited at their agreed meeting spot, and soon Akeno arrived.

She'd let her usual high ponytail down, her black hair flowing smoothly over her shoulders. Her outfit was a girlish dress, soft and elegant.

"How do I look? Am I pretty?" Akeno asked, spinning once for him.

"Beautiful," Draconis Yi replied with a gentle smile. "You feel like a whole new Akeno."

Akeno beamed, slipping her arm through his and hugging it close.

Out of the corner of his eye, Draconis Yi spotted a handful of sneaky figures lurking behind a distant building, peeking around the corner.

Rias and the others.

He nearly laughed out loud. They'd all claimed they didn't mind, but here they were, trailing along in secret.
