Zi Zhenzhu immediately raised her telescope to peer into the distance. Her pupils contracted.
That ship wasn't built from local island timber, and its crew were strangers. Could this be the group Yang Yunhai had warned her about?
"Turn the rudder!" Zi Zhenzhu shouted urgently.
The next instant, a black shadow flew toward them.
"A Titled Douluo!?" She froze in shock. No wonder Yang Yunhai said these people were extremely dangerous.
Stamping her foot to steady herself, she whispered quickly to her crew, "Don't say a word later."
The little brothers all nodded frantically.
Soon, the black-clad elder landed on deck. Zi Zhenzhu hurried forward and bowed respectfully.
"I did not know senior was coming. May I ask what instruction you have?"
"Hand over your nautical charts," the old man said blandly, his gaze laced with disdain. "And no tricks. Otherwise, none of you will leave alive."
He had no reason to be polite to pirates.
'Just as Yang Yunhai said—these people came with ill intent.' Zi Zhenzhu thought grimly.
Among those most familiar with the surrounding seas, none could match pirates. Their maps were the most detailed records of these waters. No wonder the elder had flown over after seeing them dodge aside. With the charts, they could easily launch assaults and seize islands.
While she weighed her options, Zi Zhenzhu nodded.
"Yes, senior. Please wait a moment."
She turned and ran into the cabin, quickly returning with a roll of parchment, which she presented with both hands.
The old man accepted it, unrolled it, and his eyes brightened. He looked up.
"Take me to your base. My ship needs supplies. Don't worry—I will pay."
Controlling a pirate band was best done by controlling their families.
Zi Zhenzhu's heart sank, but she forced herself to nod.
"As you command, senior."
"You sail ahead. My ship will follow." He stowed the map into his soul tool and turned to fly back.
With such absolute strength, he feared no trickery.
'Hmph. You think to bite off more than you can chew with me? You're still too green.' Zi Zhenzhu sneered inwardly and barked orders to turn the ship.
Behind them, the fishing boats kept pace.
Time passed. Night fell. The black-clad elder descended to their deck, confirmed the course, then had the fleet drop anchor when the fishing boats drew close. Only then did he let Zi Zhenzhu sail on, staying aboard her vessel to guard against deceit.
The night passed in silence. At dawn, they resumed course. When the second night fell, the ships anchored again.
In the dead of night, Zi Zhenzhu quietly opened a hidden hatch by her bed. She slipped into the sea, her splash masked by the steady crash of waves—timed perfectly.
Her long, lithe legs kicked smoothly, like a mermaid cutting through the water beneath the surface.
A quarter hour later, her head broke above the waves. She pulled a small boat from her soul tool and rowed swiftly forward.
Of course she wouldn't be foolish enough to head to her real base. Her true aim was to draw nearer to Sea God Island.
The key detail was that the elder hadn't corrected her course—proof that his so-called guide didn't actually know her stronghold's location. That gave her an opening.
No pirate would ever expose their base so easily, waiting to be wiped out. Sea God Island was the exception; many residents there were devout believers in the Sea God.
Time ticked by. After more than an hour,
Boom!
A flare burst across the sky, scattering light.
On Sea God Island, the signal caught the eyes of Dugu Bo, who was standing watch. He turned immediately and reported.
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh—five figures tore through the sky toward the source.
Soon, they saw the flare flashing repeatedly over the waves beyond Sea God Island's borders.
Yang Yunhai and the others accelerated.
"Young Master Yang, I found them!" Zi Zhenzhu waved and shouted.
Without a word, Ghost Douluo released the Dragon Abyss Boat. The group landed aboard, and Zi Zhenzhu jumped on too, quickly explaining the situation.
"From her description, it sounds like the Sixth Elder of the Clear Sky Sect," Sword Douluo said, brow furrowing. "So he's already become a Titled Douluo."
"Please, seniors, hurry," Zi Zhenzhu urged. "If dawn comes and that old man finds me missing, my crew will be in danger."
Yang Yunhai nodded. "Let's move."
Ghost Douluo urged the Dragon Abyss Boat forward, racing across the sea.
Half an hour later, still before sunrise, they approached the pirate vessel. Through Zi Zhenzhu's hidden hatch, they slipped inside.
They didn't strike immediately. Instead, they sat quietly inside her cabin, waiting.
An hour passed. On the eastern horizon, pale light grew. Zi Zhenzhu stepped out, making noise. Hearing it, the black-clad elder ordered the pirate ship forward again, then flew back to the fishing boat.
That was the moment.
Yang Yunhai and the others strode out.
Because pirate ships were built with higher decks and guardrails than civilian craft—precautions against other ships ramming them—those on the fishing boat didn't notice at once.
Chrysanthemum Douluo and Ghost Douluo exchanged a look. Their soul rings flared—black light and golden light entwined, a strange ripple spreading out.
The Sixth Elder of the Clear Sky Sect felt the surge of power, his face twisting as he turned.
But then—
Silence.
His body froze in place, expression stiff. Around him, all the Clear Sky clansmen were the same.
Sword Douluo flashed across the waves, landing on the fishing boat. He scooped up several plainly dressed locals—captives, not clan members—and carried them away.
Dugu Bo's foot pressed down. He rose into the air, his third soul ring gleaming. Behind him loomed his martial soul phantom. With a hiss, he spat a cloud of emerald poison mist straight at the elder.
The man's eyes widened in terror as the green fog engulfed him. His skin melted away before their eyes.
The poison spread, consuming the disciples too.
"Urgh!" Some of Zi Zhenzhu's crew gagged, vomiting after just one glance. Even Zi Zhenzhu herself turned pale, struggling not to retch. Before their horrified eyes, bodies melted into bone… then into nothing at all.
In moments, nothing remained—not even the ship.
"A pity, no soul bones dropped." Dugu Bo landed with regret, then turned toward the rescued villager.
"Take us to the island these people seized. And tell me—were there other ships?"
"No, no, sir…" The man's face was white, voice trembling. "They only took our island a few days ago. This ship was just scouting nearby isles. The rest are still at the stronghold."
"So they were the vanguard," Dugu Bo muttered. "One Titled Douluo leading them was more than enough."
"Lead the way," he ordered.
"Yes, sir!" the villager stammered, nodding furiously.
"Don't be afraid. They're guests of Sea God Island," Zi Zhenzhu reassured him.
At her words, the villager's eyes welled up. He clasped his hands and sobbed, "Please, you must save us! These strangers not only seized our island but forced us into slavery. They do nothing themselves—make us cook, wash, serve them. And now they want more islands, more slaves!"
"Hah. Clear Sky Sect…" Sword Douluo sneered.
"Even stooping to enslave commoners," Chrysanthemum Douluo spat.
"Zi Zhenzhu, we'll trouble you to ferry us there," Yang Yunhai said.
"No problem." Zi Zhenzhu nodded firmly, turning to order her crew to set sail.
