Stagg Tower was uneven, with one room protruding and another recessed, making the entire building look very three-dimensional.
Lin Li wasn't very fond of this kind of creativity or design. In his words, "What the hell is this? It looks so convoluted."
He parked his Lightning War Cycle in a dark corner, nestled within trimmed bushes, and quickly entered Stagg Tower. All the security guards on the first floor were dead, shot to death.
Lin Li activated his electromagnetic sense and immediately detected Barry surrounded by a crowd of Danton Blacks on the third floor.
He quickly rushed to the third floor.
The entire third floor was filled with Danton Black.
There were countless, identical faces.
The Metahuman's vision seemed to be shared; one Danton Black saw Lin Li, and then all the Danton Blacks turned to look at Lin Li.
At this point, anyone who showed up had to be an enemy.
Thousands of Metahumans surged forward, attempting to overwhelm him with sheer numbers.
Unfortunately, Lin Li's lightning was quite effective against him, especially against those who still had normal human body strength, and numbers didn't pose much of a threat to him.
The individuals split by the Metahuman possessed the same strength as the original. The main body could control its clones through brainwave signals emitted from its brain. Lin Li couldn't control these signals yet; his control ability hadn't reached that level, but he could easily disrupt the transmission of these signals.
Destruction is always easier than control or creation.
Lin Li's fingertips vibrated intensely with electric arcs, and he raised his right hand towards the sky.
Suddenly, there was a crackling sound, the smell of burning electrical wires filled the air, sparks and electric arcs flickered everywhere, and the light tubes dimmed and brightened before exploding with a 'pop'.
Stagg Tower immediately plunged into darkness, with sparks flying and flames igniting everywhere. The paper files on the desks burned quickly, and the third-floor office of Stagg Tower was about to catch fire.
A bright light source appeared above Lin Li, and an electric net generated from his fingertips began to spread.
The electric net crackled, twisting and burning the air, emitting a harsh, sickening electronic frequency hum that would make an ordinary person with a weaker constitution feel dizzy and nauseous, leading to vomiting.
The direct effect on the Metahuman was to interrupt the brainwave connection between the main body and the clones.
The first group of Danton Blacks that charged forward fell two meters in, one after another, like a domino effect, a rather spectacular sight.
The electric net in the darkness caught the attention of the main body.
"What is this?"
He questioned, feeling the clones in that area of the electric net die, their brainwaves disappearing, with no feedback returning.
Taking advantage of Danton Black's momentary lapse, Barry burst out of the encirclement, his yellow lightning directly smashing through the clones, carving a path.
He transformed into a red blur and sprinted to Lin Li's side.
"You're finally here, Lin Li! Are you trying to destroy this place? It's about to burn down."
Barry wiped his face, panting as he spoke.
"Okay, you take the exting—"
Before Lin Li could finish, a loud 'ding-ding-ding' rang out, and the fire alarm blared.
The fire sprinkler system on the ceiling immediately began to spray water.
"You take the fire extinguisher and put out the fire, I'll deal with the Metahuman."
Lin Li looked at the electric net, which was being hit by water and had started to form a slight mist, almost becoming a thundercloud.
He regretfully retracted the electrical energy, canceling the electric net.
He had planned to take care of the Metahuman with the electric net in one go, but he didn't expect the fire, the water spray, and almost forming a thundercloud. The scene was a complete mess. Fortunately, this wasn't his home, so he could unleash his powers without issue.
"Who are you?"
A Danton Black asked.
Lin Li pointed a finger, and a thick electric arc, as thick as a chopstick, burst forth, directly striking the chest of the speaking Danton Black, exploding. That Danton Black's chest was charred black, and he was knocked back into several clones behind him, unable to get up.
Another Danton Black spoke.
"Are you Simon Stagg's bodyguard?"
"No, please don't talk during combat, thank you."
Lin Li reminded the Metahuman to focus on the fight and then zapped the speaking clone again.
During these two exchanges, Barry had already extinguished the flames with a fire extinguisher. He reminded Lin Li, saying, "Hey, Lin Li, you promised me, don't kill anyone."
"Okay, the amount of electricity I'm using would cause a normal person to nearly go into shock, but not die. Don't worry."
Lin Li said helplessly.
With the flames gone, the area plunged back into darkness.
"Why are you helping Stagg? He deserves to die."
Lightning flashed, crack, flew, struck.
"We're not helping Stagg, we're stopping you. Don't do this, stop, don't destroy yourself by killing."
Barry switched to 'preacher mode'.
"Why… why…?"
A flash of lightning, and another clone was eliminated.
"Your ability to split can be used to help countless people on the brink of death. Your research, within you, you can be a hero, save everyone. Don't let your ability, because of Stagg, lead you down an evil path."
Barry got into character, his emotions showing, and he tried to persuade him emotionally.
Stagg's splitting ability, with a little research and cultivation, could truly benefit humanity with organ transplants. Artificial organs could genuinely be fully realized through him.
Especially his initial cells, which could transform into any type of cell in the body, meaning that as long as a person didn't have a significant rejection to his organs, they could potentially have a permanent backup organ supply.
"Then who will save my beloved, my wife? Should she just wait to die?"
"I was so close to succeeding, do you know? Stagg stole all my achievements."
"My wife, passing away before my eyes, for so many years… all this time…"
"All my efforts, turned to dust, stolen by others, my wife waiting to die right in front of me…"
Crying came from the darkness, especially loud.
Lin Li's hand glowed with lightning, illuminating an area, revealing all the Metahumans crying, wailing in agony, their voices hoarse.
The water from the fire sprinklers drenched all the Metahumans' faces, making it impossible to distinguish between water and tears, only red veins visible, their eyes bloodshot from crying.
Lin Li's face was cold and unmoved. He said, "Did the owner of the weapon shop deserve to die? Did that security supervisor deserve to die? Don't they have families? You're not the only one with a wife; they had them too. Because of you, two families are grieving, and sorrow has spread. If you were just killing Stagg, I would even support you, but right now you're a mad dog, driven insane by the desire to kill Stagg, wanting to kill everyone. You deserve to die too."
"Deserve to die, all of them deserve to die…"
Barry's heart was bitter. He said, "Killing isn't the only solution, Lin Li."
The Metahuman roared with a hoarse voice, "As long as Stagg dies, everything will be resolved."
