Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

The Beast vs. The Beast

The sun was setting when heavy footsteps announced Logan Lee's approach. An almost charged feeling seemed to fill the air. Marcus turned down a quiet alley and felt a jolt of terror run down his spine as a huge, looming figure emerged from the shadows.

Logan: (eyes aflame, voice low) "Marcus… I've been lookin' for you."

Marcus: (clenching fists) "Logan… Stay away. You don't want this."

Logan: (smirking) "No. YOU don't want this."

Next, Logan suddenly charged forward, as if struck by lightning. The first punch landed on Marcus's ribs and catapulted him into a brick wall with such force that the air shook.

Marcus: (spitting blood) "Gah!!"

Logan: (laughs darkly) "What's wrong?! Not so tough now?!"

Marcus launched himself forward with a roar, swiping with clawed hands. The gashes ripped across Logan's chest, blood spraying — only for the wounds to bubble and knit themselves shut.

Marcus: (eyes widening) "What the—?!"

Logan slammed a huge hand down onto Marcus's head and drove him into the concrete. The boy wheezed, blood pooling under him.

Logan: "You don't get it, do you?! Whatever you gave me, it made ME stronger!! You can't win, Marcus!!"

Logan jerked him upward by his shirt and slammed a knee into Marcus' ribs. There was a resounding crunch.

Marcus: (gasping) "No… not like this…"

With a desperate howl, Marcus sank his claws deep into Logan's side, ripping a chunk of flesh free — only to watch in horror as it bubbled, stitched itself together, and reformed like it had never been torn.

Logan: (grinning) "What's the matter? Surprised?!"

Logan threw him down the alley. Marcus crashed into a dumpster, broken and bleeding.

The Intervention

Just as Logan stepped forward to deliver the finishing blow, a voice rang out.

Vasco: "ENOUGH!!"

Vasco dove into action, a blur of muscles and energy. His chiseled muscles flexed as he let out a deep Muay Thai elbow strike across Logan's jaw. The giant was caught off guard, stumbling momentarily backward.

Vasco: "You're done, Logan!!"

In came Zack Lee with a hook to the ribs, crisp and brutal, an uppercut sharp as whiplash that snapped Logan's head back.

Zack Lee: (with narrowed eyes) "This ends now!!"

The two fighters combined, fists and knees flying, forcing Logan back, pressing him harder and harder. But every time a blow landed, every deep gash or brutal crack, Logan just growled as his wounds bubbled shut.

Logan: (eyes burning) "Is that all you've got?!"

With an inhuman bellow, Logan brought both his massive hands down to strike hard, the impacts sending Vasco and Zack flying backward. The force shook the alley. The beast that was Logan, standing tall, sneered down at a wounded Marcus.

Logan: (spitting) "I don't have time for this."

With that, he launched himself down the alley and disappeared into the night.

The Revelation

A few blocks away, still covered in adrenaline, Logan fell to the ground beside a lamp post. The wounds that should have killed him were gone. His breathing was deep and hard

Logan: (narrowing his eyes) "What the hell am I…?"

He pulled out his phone, fingers shaking as he searched online. Everything came up blank — except one thing. A fiction site. An old book. A word that resonated deep within him:

"Werewolf"

The bite, the strength, the monstrous recovery. It clicked.

Logan: (whispering) "That's it… I'm a werewolf. And that means… so is Marcus Lane." His face slowly contorted into a monstrous grin as he clenched his fists, the voice low and dripping with malice. Logan: "This changes everything."
