Chapter 16 - Chapter 18: New Bonds, New Status

The morning sun filtered softly through the tall windows of Kael's mansion. He rose from bed, moved through his routine with his usual precision, and stepped into the study where his phone buzzed with new messages.

The first was a surprise.

Mia and Leo had just made their decision official—they were to be married. The ceremony was set for May 14, only eight days away.

Kael read the message twice before leaning back in his chair, lips curving faintly. He wasn't often sentimental, but even he couldn't deny a certain warmth at the thought.

When Lila heard the news later that day, her reaction was immediate—a bright laugh and genuine excitement. She had always teased Leo about his endless jokes, and Mia for her careful discipline. Seeing them together, she said, "Finally, balance. One keeps things serious, the other refuses to take anything too seriously. They'll last."

Kael only replied with a small nod, but inside, he agreed.

By afternoon, Kael received another call—this time, from the bank.

The voice on the line was unusually polite, even reverent. "Mr. Frost, this is regarding your accounts and current standing. You are now eligible for our Black Card membership. Would you be available to come in and finalize the process?"

Kael's gaze flicked toward the skyline outside his window. A Black Card—exclusive, near-limitless, reserved only for the ultra-wealthy. It was less about what it could purchase and more about what it represented.

"I'll come today," he said simply, and ended the call.

An hour later, the Lamborghini Veneno pulled up in front of the bank's private entrance. The staff were already waiting.

"Welcome, Mr. Frost," the manager greeted with a bow that bordered on ceremonial. Kael followed him inside, bypassing all lines and security with quiet efficiency.

The private office was silent, luxurious, with leather seats and polished wood. The manager carefully placed a sleek, black envelope on the table.

"This is not just a card," he explained. "It offers global access, concierge services, private investment opportunities, and—most importantly—recognition. Very few people in the world qualify, Mr. Frost. You are now among them."

Kael picked up the card. It was heavier than he expected, matte black with no numbers, only his name engraved in silver. A small symbol shimmered when tilted under the light.

He slipped it into his wallet without ceremony. "Fine," he said. "Activate it."

The manager bowed again. "Of course. Consider it done."

On the way back, Kael drove the Veneno slowly, the engine humming like restrained thunder.

Mia and Leo's marriage. The Black Card.

Two different kinds of milestones—one personal, one financial. Both, in their own way, marks of progress.

Kael's thoughts drifted briefly to Aurelius as a whole. It was no longer just investments, buildings, or names. It was people, too. People who grew, laughed, loved, and stood beside him.

He pressed the accelerator, the Veneno roaring down the road as the sun began to sink.

"Step by step," Kael murmured under his breath.

And the road ahead stretched endlessly forward.
