Chapter 20 - Taking Down Five Wolves And Explosion

Forest Of Acrata.....

The wolves didn't stop approaching Linda, steadily, while also growling and barking.

Although, to Linda's dismay, the wolves were incredibly huge and large and also bulky.

If not for the fact she recognized them as timber wolves, she would have thought that they weren't ordinary wolves. But adding to that, the wolves she suspected to be timber wolves were black instead of the supposed brown coloured fur.

This could only heighten her suspicions that the wolves may not be ordinary wolves.

They were simply too extraordinary to be ordinary wolves. Big, bulky, large, black fur instead of brown and their synchronized intelligence.

No, this wolves must surely not be ordinary wolves.

Only if she knew how right her suspicions were. Only if she knew these wolves she was about to fight were actually warrior Angels sent to assassinate her and the two reborn versions of the Angel of war. Only if she knew, but she doesn't know.

But she didn't really have time to dwell on those thoughts as all her focus were on the approaching wolves that seemed like they could tear her into shreds in no time wasted.

But suddenly, just as the wolves approaching from all sides were about to reach her, at about five feet away, the wolves stopped approaching.

They simultaneously stopped approaching all at once, such intelligence shocking Linda to the core.

Somehow, the wolves behaved like robots that may have been sent after her.

However, what the wolves surrounding her did next, shocked her even more to her bone marrow.

The wolves still surrounding her, at the last moment and just five feet away from her, immediately stopped and simultaneously sat on the ground.

They still surrounded her, leaving her no chance of escape except the air.

But Linda knew very well that even escaping through the air could be difficult as these wolves recent actions actually proved that they carried a great deal of intelligence.

They all say on the ground, around her, some still snarling and barking while some staring at her with some kind of a wolfish grin.

Nevertheless, Linda is by far surprised by this action.

She didn't expect the wolves to just stop and sit on the ground while still surrounding her.

She had actually expected them all to just attack her without mercy and maybe tear her into shreds.

But seeing them all gathered around her, sitting on the ground and with all eyes on her only proved her suspicions of their remarkable intelligence.

This now proved to her that these wolves couldn't be ordinary wolves.

At least, it would give her time to fight them off or maybe give her time to escape.

Beads of sweat rolled down her pale forehead as she calculated and extimated every move the wolves would make.

She was a witch and to her, it's high time she actually got into a little bit of action.

Linda once again, peered at the little baby nestled in her arms, the baby looking at her with blue eyes that were so captivating that her breath caught in her throat, immediately her eyes looked at those eyes.

She took mental note that this baby was the baby she had just found and adopted. She would protect him with everything she's got, even if she has to die to achieve that, because, right now he was her child and family.

---

Unknown Pov.....

Why aren't these warrior Angels (wolves) attacking the witch?

Why did they suddenly stop and sit on the ground while also surrounding her?

What are they planning?

I'll have to find out.

Or could they be wanting to attack her one by one in order to tire her out.

It may seem so. They want to delay the fight in order to get the witch tired and scared and they'll deal a fatal blow when she's weak.

That's it. Maybe that's what their planning, to weaken her and make her scared. That's the reason they don't want to attack all at once.

These warrior Angels are cunning and pretty strong.

Whatever they are up to, I'll make sure they don't harm the witch and this supposed reborn version of the Angel of war (the baby). And I hope this witch has enough stamina to fight these warrior Angels one after the other.

This warriorAngels must not harm this witch.

If they do, then the whole mission would be compromised.

I think this was what my mistress was talking about.

She said something about handling interferences with the mission and I'm sure this is one of those interferences she was talking about.

But what puzzles me most is the involvement of Angels mostly the Angel of destruction.

There's more to this whole thing that I don't know.

I immediately added more efforts in hiding my presence, my sight peeking from among the tree branches. My efforts in hiding my presence resulting well as neither the wolves (Angel warriors) and the witch seemed to have noticed me.

---

Before Linda could do anything, a wolf, tall with a dark black fur, stepped out from among the wolves surrounding her.

The wolf stalked closer to Linda, leaving it's companions sitting on the ground.

Unexpectedly, the wolf leapt at Linda when it was three feet away from her. It leapt right at her, projecting it's body through the air.

Linda expected the wolf to attack her especially since she had noticed it stalking towards her.

With refined agility which was quite impossible for her age, she dodged to the side at the last moment.

The wolf not getting it's target, crashed on the tree trunk where Linda had kept her bag and firewoods.

The loud crash of the wolf on the tree trunk startled the baby in Linda's arms making the baby to turn, in order to see the reason for the noise.

Linda didn't really glance at the baby. She focused on the fight with the wolf that had just attacked her.

The wolf got up on its feet in a fit of rage. It's dark eyes glowing with pure anger.

But Linda had seen that look many times and she knew how to exploit the rage of her opponents.

The wolf charged crazily at Linda, aiming for Linda abdomen, ready to take a bit of it. It's canines and teeth were bared dangerously and it's sharp deadly claws were ready to sink through flesh, even in rage.

Linda decided to create distance between her and the approaching wolves, mostly for the baby's sake.

She used her air elemental magic to bend the wind to her demand. With the flick of her wrist and with spin of her body, she sent a wave of strong powerful winds at the wolf, catching the wolf off guard.

The wolf being caught off guard was sent flying and it landed painfully in the tree trunk of another tree.

From Linda's point of view, the tree trunk where the wolf had landed, should surely be strong because she could see that the wolf had broken many bones.

Deciding to end the wolf quickly, Linda immediately used her telekinesis ability which she gained from her air elemental magic. She did this before the wolf could regain it's strength.

She summoned a nearby bamboo stick that coincidentally had sharp edges and sent it at the wolf. The bamboo stick, flew past the pack of wolves that surrounded her and hit the wolf that had landed behind the wolves that surrounded her.

The wolf, still trying to get up on its feet after breaking some bones from Linda's wind attack, did not even have the chance to dodge as a bamboo stick got buried into it's body.

The wolf let out a howl of immense pain before finally slumping down and giving up the ghost.

But what happened next shocked Linda and most likely proved Linda's suspicions of the wolves not being ordinary.

The dead wolf which Linda just killed with a bamboo, immediately it's body faded away into nothingness leaving a white glowing orb, representing it's soul. Simultaneously, the soul also dissolved, leaving a trail of white dust.

Linda gasped in shock and fright at this sudden phenomenon.

She looked at the other pack of wolves that surrounded, her face visibly filled with fear and uncertainty.

The other wolves surrounding her, numbering up to fourteen looked at her with some kind of a mocking wolf gaze.

That was when Linda realized that these wolves were not ordinary wolves.

They were beings that took the form and shape of wolves, just to kill her and kill the baby.

But before she could do anything, four wolves were already on their feet and charging at her as if they had just received commands from a higher up. They seemed to not be fazed by their companion's death but instead, still charged at Linda with deadly precision.

Nevertheless, Linda is letting that happen. She's not letting she and her baby to die just like that.

Not without a proper fight.

Quickly, Linda layed the baby on the ground closer to the firewoods she had gathered and also placed the bag that was on her shoulder, close to the baby.

The baby who seemed no to be happy that it lost its motherly warmth didn't complain or cry, but instead stared at Linda's face with cute blue eyes.

"Don't worry, Mama's gonna protect you".

Linda assured the baby and turned to the four approaching wolves, not even wanting to see the reaction of the baby at hearing her speak.

And with that, the fight between Linda and the wolves (warrior Angels) sent from an unknown source, ensued.

---

Linda skillfully gathered a wave of wind with her air magic and compressed it into a ball of green air.

She quickly sent the ball at the fastest approaching wolf but surprisingly, the wolf easily dodged it as if it was nothing.

This action frustrated Linda and anger shown on her face. Still, the four wolves were still approaching with deadly precision.

Quick thinking, she used green air in forming a spear and sent it flying at the wolf closer to her.

The wolf not expecting the attack was pierced and sent flying back. It tumbled back a little bit before coming to a stop, dead.

Just as it had happened to the first wolf, this wolf faded into nothingness and it's soul dissolved in a trail of white dust.

Linda seemed captivated by the phenomenon for some seconds but those seconds wasted were dangerously.

By the time Linda focused on the approaching three wolves, they were already leaping at her, ready to tear her into shreds.

She couldn't escape the three wolves leaping at her because they were attacking from three sides.

Quick thinking and making a hurriedly rash decision, Linda decided to use her spiritual energy (inmate magic) in ending the three wolves all at once.

But using that technique would be costly be there's a big possiblity that she wouldn't be torn into shreds by these three wolves.

In a quick action, Linda gathered her inmate magic and formed a ball of green light in her hands.

The three wolves were already sinking their canines in her skin and she could feel the pain from the bite.

But before the wolves could sink their canines deeper into her skin, green rays pierced through the air followed by a massive explosion of green light.

The three wolves dissolved into nothingness upon contact with the explosion resulting from the ball of green light.

Linda, in order to shield she and the baby, had already casted a barrier spell and a green barrier formed quickly around her and the baby, protecting them both from the explosion of green light.

Meanwhile, the baby was still on the ground watching the whole scene as the lady(Linda) fought to protect him from the wolves.

A spark of blue glow appeared in his blue eyes as a hidden phenomenon took place in the insides of the baby.

Unknown to everyone, the baby had just awakened his spirituality. His ability to use magic awakening, just after the explosion.

The scene of the lady protecting him from wolves that wanted to kill him plus the explosion had actually triggered his awakening of spirituality.
