Chapter 149 - Chapter 149 – Special Grade Sorcerer, Fushiguro Megumi

Chapter 149 – Special Grade Sorcerer, Fushiguro Megumi

The next afternoon — Tokyo International Airport.

Dragging her suitcase behind her, Zen'in Kaon stepped out of the arrival gate alone.

All around her, faint ripples of cursed energy pulsed through the crowd—so natural, so abundant, it almost felt like breathing in a different world.

She had never experienced anything like this in any other country.

"So this is the paradise of jujutsu sorcerers… Even ordinary people have such obvious cursed energy fluctuations."

As Kaon marveled at her surroundings, she suddenly noticed a man holding a sign with her name on it—

a stoic-looking middle-aged man and a ten-year-old boy at his side, waving the sign awkwardly.

"Huh? Are they… here for me?"

Puzzled, she approached them.

"Excuse me, are you here to pick me up?"

The man shifted his gaze to her, examined her for a moment, and then smiled.

"Yeah. You must be Kaon. Can't believe you've grown this much… you really do look like your father.

I'm Fushiguro Megumi—I guess you could call me your cousin."

Megumi felt strange calling someone over ten years younger his "cousin," but technically, the relation did line up.

"Jirō, greet your aunt."

"Hello, Auntie!"

The boy beside him stared at Kaon with wide, curious eyes.

"So you're Dad's relatives! Hello, Cousin—hello, little nephew."

Kaon immediately understood the relationship.

She had left Japan when she was three and spent her entire life traveling the world with her parents, so she wasn't familiar with relatives here.

But she did know: her father, despite having no cursed energy, had been born into a prominent sorcerer clan.

"Come with us, Kaon. Your father already contacted me. I'll handle your admission into Tokyo Jujutsu High."

Megumi had been informed in advance: the cousin he hadn't seen in more than ten years wanted to become a sorcerer.

Naturally, as family, he would handle everything properly.

"Really? Thanks, Cousin!"

Kaon suddenly felt her excitement spike.

"But, um… Cousin, you're a sorcerer, right? Why can't I sense any cursed energy from you?"

She couldn't help but ask.

This kid—Jirō—had a clear cursed energy signature.

Yet her cousin… felt like her mom: no cursed energy leaking at all.

Was this something all real sorcerers could do?

And why couldn't she do it?

"Oh, that."

Megumi let out the faintest ripple of cursed energy.

In an instant, a terrifying pressure washed over Kaon—cold sweat broke out down her spine.

And then—gone.

As if nothing had happened.

"Once a sorcerer reaches a certain level, they can control their energy precisely. Hiding it isn't unusual."

Megumi explained casually.

To top-tier sorcerers, this kind of control was basic.

Most sorcerers simply didn't bother hiding their presence—Megumi did only because his line of work demanded it.

"That's so cool…!"

Kaon's eyes sparkled.

"Cousin, how are sorcerer ranks divided? And what level do I have to reach to be like you?"

Just from that brief release of energy, she already understood:

Her cousin's strength was far above hers.

Just like Dad warned—

Once she entered the jujutsu world, any random sorcerer might completely outclass her.

She must stay humble. Stay low-key.

Megumi raised a brow.

"Your parents didn't tell you?"

"Nope."

Kaon answered immediately, without hesitation.

Her wonderful mother only revealed things bit by bit, and her wonderful father—

…was far too lazy to talk about jujutsu.

Which Kaon understood.

Dad had no cursed energy, yet came from a major clan.

He must have had... bad memories.

"I know! I know!"

Megumi hadn't even responded when little Jirō proudly raised his hand.

"There are Grade 4, Grade 3, Grade 2, Semi-Grade 1, Grade 1, Semi-Special Grade, and the strongest—Special Grade Sorcerer!"

Then he puffed out his tiny chest.

"Auntie, I'm only eleven, but I already have Grade 4 strength!"

As Megumi's son, Fushiguro Jirō had inherited his mother's technique—

a technique capable of nullifying other techniques.

"Wow, amazing! As expected of the jujutsu world. Little Jirō is already this strong at such a young age?"

Kaon's excitement grew. She had just arrived and already met two sorcerers.

Her sorcerer life was off to a thrilling start.

"Auntie, my dad is a Special Grade Sorcerer too! Super strong!"

Children loved bragging—

and once you praise them, they never stop.

"Alright, that's enough. There's nothing to brag about. The stronger a sorcerer is, the more responsibility he carries."

Megumi knocked lightly on his son's head.

"…Okay…"

Jirō pouted.

It wasn't like he was wrong—

his dad wasn't just a Special Grade sorcerer, he was also head of the Zen'in Clan, one of the Big Three Families.

If that wasn't brag-worthy, what was?

"Ahem… Cousin, you're really a Special Grade Sorcerer? Like… the strongest of the strong?"

Kaon still couldn't wrap her head around it.

Her cousin—whom she had barely known for five minutes—was apparently Special Grade?

That sounded ridiculously impressive.

And yet her parents had never mentioned this once.

How tightly were they hiding things from her!?

"More or less," Megumi replied calmly. "By the way, Kaon—what's your technique?"

He suddenly realized he had no idea what her innate technique was.

"My technique?" Kaon paused, recalling her father's warning to stay cautious.

"My technique is Star Rage Technique. I inherited it from my mother."

"Star Rage Technique… so you have Yuki-senpai's technique. That means you've got the potential to become a Special Grade sorcerer as well."

Megumi nodded thoughtfully.

He had assumed she might awaken a traditional Zen'in technique.

But just like his own son, she inherited her mother's instead.

"I have the potential to become Special Grade? Why do you say that?"

Kaon was confused.

How could someone judge her potential based solely on her technique?

Unless… her technique was that powerful?

Seeing her blank expression, Megumi felt speechless.

Those two really didn't teach her anything, did they?

She was truly coming to Jujutsu High as a complete newbie.

"The technique Star Rage Technique has only appeared twice in history.

Once with your mother, Yuki-senpai…

and now, in you."

Kaon blinked.

"So my technique is that rare…"

"By the way, Cousin—why do you keep calling my mom 'senpai'? Was she someone famous in the jujutsu world?"

Megumi's mouth twitched.

"…You could say that."

Famous was an understatement.

Infamous, legendary, terrifying — all more accurate.

Clearly, this girl knew absolutely nothing about jujutsu history.

Before Kaon could continue her questioning, Megumi cut her off decisively:

"It's getting late. I'll take you to meet your uncle, then you can rest.

Tomorrow, I'll handle your enrollment at Tokyo Jujutsu High."

Any further questions could be dumped on someone else—

preferably Itadori, who happened to be on new-student duty this year.

Perfect timing.
