Darkness hesitated for a moment, then gave a wry smile.
"Kazuma's been arrested."
"Arrested?" Emiya was a little surprised.
But only a little.
He accepted it far faster than expected.
"So what did he do this time?" Emiya asked calmly. "Steal someone's underwear?"
Yomi couldn't help complaining. "Even if Kazuma steals underwear all the time, he wouldn't get arrested for that."
Emiya looked serious.
"No, no. In my world, that would be enough to lock him up for months."
"What kind of law is that?"
"The law of my world," Emiya replied flatly.
He had already decided.
This time, he would be honest with them.
He had come back to explain who he really was.
Darkness didn't dwell on that point and continued.
"Anyway, we're trying to figure out how to save Kazuma. Since you're back, let's think of something together."
"That can wait," Emiya said, pointing at the sofa. "First, what's wrong with her?"
Aqua lay there like a dried fish, completely lifeless.
Darkness sighed.
"It's like this..."
After Emiya left, Aqua and the others had lived a life of indulgence.
After splitting the reward for defeating the Headless Knight, each of them received nearly one hundred million Eris.
For Aqua, Kazuma, and Megumin, it was an astronomical sum.
At first, they went on a complete spending spree.
No planning.
No restraint.
Money flowed like water.
Within a single month, ten million Eris were gone.
Aqua was the worst offender.
Expensive sparkling wine.
High-end ingredients.
Luxury after luxury.
Darkness tried to stop her.
She failed.
In truth, it wasn't just Aqua.
Kazuma and Megumin were no better.
Darkness could only watch helplessly.
Aqua's behavior quickly attracted merchants.
When they saw how much money she had, they flocked to her, recommending one "good deal" after another.
The prices climbed higher and higher.
Aqua didn't care.
She still had tens of millions left.
Then one merchant approached her with a proposal.
He claimed he could acquire a batch of ultra-high-end sparkling wine from the capital.
Not only could Aqua drink it herself.
She could sell the excess in Axel and make a profit.
If things went well, she wouldn't lose money at all.
She might even earn more and create a positive cycle.
To Emiya, it was an obvious scam.
Axel was a town for beginner adventurers.
Low-level adventurers.
Limited spending power.
Who would buy ultra-high-end sparkling wine here?
Even if the wine arrived, it would likely rot unsold.
Of course, that was assuming it arrived at all.
But Aqua believed him.
That alone explained everything.
So she spent a huge sum and ordered the shipment.
It nearly emptied her savings.
The merchant didn't run away.
He really did transport the wine from the capital.
To be fair, even if it didn't sell, Aqua could have drunk it herself.
She wouldn't have ended up like this.
The problem was-
The wine had issues.
Not because it was fake.
It was genuinely ultra-high-end.
But just before it reached Axel-
The Mobile Fortress Destroyer appeared.
That machine.
The massive fortress that had destroyed countless cities.
Built by the otaku Aqua herself had sent to this world.
It appeared near Axel.
The Adventurers' Guild mobilized immediately.
They gathered adventurers to protect the town.
Just like in the story, they succeeded.
Aqua removed the barrier.
Wiz and Megumin cast Explosion together.
The fortress lost a leg.
The adventurers stormed inside and finally destroyed the monster that had rampaged across the continent for years.
Afterward, Aqua received bad news.
Her wine was gone.
On the same day the Mobile Fortress Destroyer was defeated, the merchant returned to Axel with the shipment.
He was caught up in the chaos and forced into the battle zone.
Megumin's and Wiz's Explosion spells created a massive shockwave.
The merchant's carriage-filled with ultra-high-end sparkling wine-was blown away.
Every bottle shattered.
Alcohol flooded the ground.
Everyone smelled it.
No one cared.
Aqua even laughed, wondering which idiot would transport alcohol at a time like that.
Only later did she realize.
The idiot was her.
From that moment on, she became a dried fish who had lost all hope.
As for Kazuma Satou's arrest-
It was also connected to the Mobile Fortress Destroyer.
After disabling it, Kazuma ordered the teleportation of its core.
The Corona Stone.
The stone was about to explode.
Unfortunately, it was teleported straight into the mansion of the local lord.
The lord wasn't home.
So he didn't die with his house.
But when he returned and found his residence completely gone-
He immediately had Kazuma arrested for treason.
Kazuma was thrown into prison.
The trial was scheduled a few days later.
Emiya ran a hand through his hair.
Plot inertia.
He really hadn't expected it to be this strong.
He thought his presence would have changed things.
But even with nearly one hundred million Eris-
Kazuma was still arrested.
And for the exact same reason.
It was absurd.
"...I'll ask just to be sure," Emiya said. "When is Kazuma Satou's trial?"
"Tomorrow," Darkness replied.
"So what's your plan to save him?"
"Well..." Darkness glanced at Aqua, then at Megumin, then lowered her head.
"Sorry. We don't have one yet."
Emiya rubbed his forehead.
As expected.
"Forget it," he said. "I'll handle it."
He remembered that the lord governing Axel was a perverted old man with ties to a Demon Duke.
"Huh? Is that really okay?" Darkness looked worried. "You just got back."
"It's fine," Emiya replied. "But I'll need your help."
Darkness agreed immediately.
Emiya stood and walked outside.
"Follow me."
"Huh? Where are we going?" Darkness hurried after him.
"To find the person who arrested Kazuma Satou," Emiya said. "You know who that is."
The one who ordered the arrest was the kingdom's prosecutor.
Sena.
Black hair.
Beautiful.
At first glance, she looked like a capable, intelligent secretary.
A serious beauty.
Unfortunately-
She was also a hardcore fujoshi.
Led by Darkness, Emiya found Sena at the police station in the center of town.
She looked at them coldly.
"What do you want?"
"Prosecutor Sena," Emiya said calmly. "I heard you arrested Kazuma Satou on charges of treason."
Her eyes narrowed.
"So you're here to plead for him?"
"No," Emiya replied. "I'm here to tell you that you arrested the wrong person."
"What?"
"The one you should arrest isn't Kazuma Satou," Emiya continued. "It's the lord of the Axel region."
Sena stared at him in disbelief.
"Are you joking?"
"I'm not."
"This is nonsense," she said, crossing her arms. "Why should I arrest the lord? What crime has he committed?"
"Colluding with demons," Emiya replied. "Is that serious enough?"
Sena's expression changed.
Collusion with demons was no minor crime.
But she quickly realized she had been led along.
She took a deep breath and regained her composure.
"Do you understand what you're saying?" she said sternly. "Slandering a lord is a grave offense. I could arrest you right now and treat you as Kazuma Satou's accomplice."
"This isn't slander," Emiya said calmly.
"It's the truth."
