Thorne brought word to Raven personally, his expression carrying the grim weight of news that couldn't wait. She'd been observing the core team's afternoon drill from the training grounds—watching Taron push them through coordination exercises that were slowly, painfully becoming less chaotic—when her security chief appeared at her shoulder.
"Borderlands messenger," Thorne said quietly. "Rode three days straight. Nearly killed his mount getting here. Says he carries word from Elder Maren of Thornhaven—and that children are still disappearing."
Raven's attention snapped away from the training immediately. "Where is he?"
"Medical Hall. Mira's treating exhaustion and dehydration. But he insisted on speaking with you before accepting sedation. Whatever he's carrying, it weighs on him."
