Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 : DESPERATE RESCUE

Sophia's eyes locked onto the mansion, her heart racing with determination. She had to save Patrick, no matter the cost. With a deep breath, she scaled the walls, her movements swift and silent.

She reached the window of Patrick's room and slipped inside. Elizabeth stood with her back turned, gloating over Patrick's prone form. Sophia's anger flared, but she kept her cool, creeping up behind Elizabeth.

With a swift kick, Elizabeth crashed to the floor. Sophia rushed to Patrick's side, helping him sit up. "Patrick, can you walk?" she whispered urgently.

Patrick nodded, still disoriented. Sophia draped his arm over her shoulders, supporting his weight. They stumbled out of the mansion, into the night.

Their destination was Patrick's safe house, a secluded cabin on the outskirts of town. Once inside, Sophia helped Patrick onto the bed, her hands roaming over his battered body.

As the adrenaline wore off, Patrick's eyes locked onto Sophia's, filled with gratitude and desire. Sophia's heart skipped a beat as she leaned in, their lips meeting in a passionate kiss.

The world outside melted away as they surrendered to their feelings, their bodies entwined in a dance of love.

But their bliss was short-lived. Elizabeth's wrath would not be silenced. She dispatched her men, issuing a deadly order: bring Patrick and Sophia back, dead or alive.

The hunters closed in, their prey unaware of the danger lurking in the shadows.

As the night wore on, Sophia and Patrick's exhaustion caught up with them. They fell into a fitful sleep, wrapped in each other's arms. But outside, Elizabeth's men closed in, their movements stealthy and calculated.

The safe house's seclusion offered little protection against Elizabeth's resources. Her team surrounded the cabin, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Sophia stirred first, her instincts alerting her to the danger. She sat up, her heart racing, and nudged Patrick awake. "We have to go," she whispered urgently.

Patrick's eyes snapped open, his gaze locking onto Sophia's. He nodded, and they quickly gathered their belongings. They slipped out the back door, into the trees, just as Elizabeth's men burst into the cabin.

The chase was on. Sophia and Patrick ran through the forest, their breath coming in ragged gasps. They knew they couldn't outrun Elizabeth's men forever.

As they ran, Sophia suddenly clutched her side, her face contorting in pain. Patrick's eyes widened as he saw the crimson spreading across her shirt. "Sophia, no!" he screamed, catching her as she fell.

A bullet had grazed her side, but it was enough to send her crashing down. Patrick's vision blurred as tears welled up in his eyes. "Sophia, please don't leave me," he begged, his voice cracking.

Elizabeth emerged from the shadows, a cold smile on her face. "You'll pay for defying me, Patrick," she spat, her eyes gleaming with malice.

Patrick's grief and rage consumed him. He cradled Sophia in his arms, his tears falling onto her pale face. "I'll never forgive you, Elizabeth," he whispered, his voice trembling with fury and sorrow.

Patrick's tears fell onto Sophia's face as he held her close. "Sophia, stay with me," he begged, his voice shaking. "Don't leave me, please." Sophia's eyes fluttered open, and she smiled weakly.

"I...I love you, Patrick," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Patrick's heart shattered into a million pieces. "I love you too, Sophia," he replied, his voice cracking. "You're going to be okay. I promise."

Elizabeth sneered, her eyes flashing with anger. "You're pathetic, Patrick," she spat. "You'll do exactly as I say, or watch her die."

Patrick's gaze locked onto Elizabeth, his eyes blazing with hatred. "You'll pay for this," he growled, his voice low and menacing.

Sophia's eyes drifted closed, and Patrick's grip on her tightened. "No, Sophia, stay with me," he pleaded, his tears falling onto her face.

Patrick's world narrowed to Sophia's fragile form in his arms. He glared at Elizabeth, his heart burning with hatred. "Fix her," he growled, his voice low and deadly. "Fix her now."

Elizabeth's smile faltered for a moment, but she regained her composure. "I'll call my doctor," she said, pulling out her phone. "But don't think this will save you, Patrick. You'll still pay for defying me."

Patrick's gaze never left Sophia's face as Elizabeth barked orders into the phone. He held her close, trying to warm her chilled skin. "Stay with me, Sophia," he whispered, his voice cracking. "Please don't leave me."

The doctor arrived, and Patrick watched in agony as they tended to Sophia's wound. He refused to let go of her hand, his grip tight as he prayed for her survival.

Elizabeth's eyes narrowed, her patience wearing thin. "This changes nothing," she warned Patrick. "You'll still do as I say."

But Patrick's only focus was Sophia, his heart tied to hers. He'd do anything to save her, even if it meant sacrificing himself.

The doctor's efforts seemed to stabilize Sophia's condition, but Patrick knew he couldn't trust Elizabeth's mercy. He watched warily as the doctor administered medication and tended to Sophia's wound.

As the doctor finished, Patrick's anger resurfaced. "You did this," he spat at Elizabeth. "You'll pay for hurting her."

Elizabeth's expression remained cold. "You're in no position to threaten me, Patrick," she said. "You'll do as I say, or Sophia will suffer the consequences."

Patrick's grip on Sophia's hand tightened. He'd find a way to escape, to protect Sophia and bring Elizabeth down. But for now, he had to play along.

"I'll do what you want," he said, his voice heavy with reluctance. "Just don't hurt her again."

Elizabeth's smile returned, but Patrick saw the calculation behind it. She'd stop at nothing to achieve her goals.

As the doctor prepared to leave, Patrick's mind racing with plans, Sophia's eyes fluttered open. "Patrick?" she whispered, her voice weak.

Patrick's heart swelled with relief. "I'm here, Sophia," he said, his voice softening. "I've got you."

Sophia's gaze locked onto Patrick's, and for a moment, they forgot about Elizabeth and the danger surrounding them. "I was so scared," Sophia whispered, her voice barely audible.

Patrick's expression softened, his eyes filling with warmth. "You're safe now," he lied, trying to reassure her. "I'll always protect you."

Elizabeth's laughter cut through the moment, her voice dripping with malice. "How touching," she said. "But don't get too comfortable, Patrick. We have plans to make."

Patrick's gaze hardened, his jaw clenched in anger. He knew he'd have to play along, but he'd find a way to escape and take down Elizabeth.

Sophia's eyes drifted closed again, and Patrick's grip on her hand tightened. He'd do whatever it took to keep her safe.

As Elizabeth turned to leave, Patrick's mind racing with plans, he caught a glimpse of determination in her eyes. She'd stop at nothing to achieve her goals, and Patrick knew he had to act fast.

The question was, how would he escape Elizabeth's clutches and keep Sophia safe?

As Elizabeth turned to leave, Patrick's eyes locked onto Sophia's fragile form. He knew he had to act fast, but for now, he had to play along.

"I'll cooperate," Patrick said, his voice laced with reluctance. "Just make sure she's safe."

Elizabeth's smile was a cold, calculated gesture. "Oh, I'll make sure she's safe...for now," she said, her eyes glinting with malice.

As she turned to leave, Patrick's heart sank. He knew he was running out of time.

Suddenly, Sophia's eyes flickered open, and she whispered a single word: "Run."

Patrick's heart skipped a beat. Had Sophia seen something? Was she trying to warn him?

Before he could react, Sophia's eyes closed again, and her body went limp. Patrick's grip on her hand tightened, his mind racing with possibilities.

And then, just as Elizabeth reached the door, the lights flickered and died, plunging the room into darkness.

Patrick's heart pounded in his chest. What was happening? Was it a power outage, or something more sinister?

The darkness seemed to stretch on forever, leaving Patrick with only one thought: What would happen next?
