Chapter 250: Scorch Release – Pakura

"Pakura , go support Lord Kazekaze!"

On the outskirts of Sunagakure, Ye Yi shouted to her younger sister as she hurled shuriken at clay birds mid-flight to intercept their explosions.

Pakura , only fifteen years old, was already a powerful ninja with a kekkei genkai. Among the rising stars of the village's younger generation, she was a renowned genius.

Her kekkei genkai, Scorch Release, was a combination of Fire and Wind chakra natures that allowed her to evaporate the moisture in a person's body—instantly lethal.

At that moment, she held a glowing white orb of Scorch chakra, its surface wrapped in swirling orange-red flames, resembling a miniature sun.

Whoosh!

She launched the Scorch orb, and as it passed through the sky, clay birds disintegrated—withered like birds dried of all moisture.

Even more impressively, the technique neutralized the birds' explosive chakra core, preventing detonation—similar to how Lightning Release naturally countered them.

Seeing this, Ye Yi urged her sister to go support Kazekaze.

"Sis, this area needs me more!"

Pakura pouted, clearly unwilling. The enemy's attacks were too intense—without her here, her sister might get hurt.

Besides, that jerk Kazekaze was so strong, he didn't need her help.

Pakura had always felt competitive with him. As a fellow prodigy, she had no interest in idolizing the village's golden boy.

Worse yet, her beloved sister constantly sang his praises—always "Lord Kazekaze this" and "Lord Kazekaze that."

If things kept going this way, and her sister really fell for that jerk…

Would she even remember her adorable little sister?

The thought made Pakura scowl. No way was she going to help that jerk—not when her sister's safety was on the line.

"Be good, Pakura ."

Ye Yi softened her tone but made it firm.

"I'll be fine here. The attack density isn't as high in this area. But Lord Kazekaze's position is the heaviest hit—he needs your help. Go, now."

"I…" Pakura hesitated.

"Go!" Ye Yi snapped.

"Fine. Just stay safe!"

Reluctantly, Pakura obeyed. She couldn't risk making her sister angry.

"Strange…"

"Am I imagining this?"

As Pakura raced across rooftops, she noticed something peculiar: the clay birds seemed far more concentrated in the areas belonging to the Ten Great Clans, while the civilian zones were lightly bombarded.

"Maybe the enemy is targeting the core fighting force first to weaken the village."

While pondering, she continued unleashing Scorch orbs—vaporizing more clay birds and saving numerous lives.

"That's Lady Pakura !"

"Her Scorch Release is incredible!"

"Thank you, Lady Pakura !"

The rescued shinobi looked at her with admiration and gratitude.

A powerful, gorgeous, voluptuous young kunoichi, always in a revealing open-back combat outfit—Pakura was indeed easy to admire.

Shing shing...

The sound of Wind Release: Slash echoed ahead.

"So powerful!"

"That's Wind Release – Slash?!"

As Pakura approached Kazekaze's position, she was stunned by what she saw.

Those razor-sharp, lightning-fast slashes intercepted and detonated clay birds mid-air with devastating precision.

Unlike typical Wind Release techniques, which could only cut but not destroy clay birds—often causing more harm when split—the Slash technique shattered the birds' internal chakra, triggering explosions mid-air.

She had tried using her Wind Blade technique on them before. It only cut them apart—the fragments still exploded on impact.

But Kazekaze's technique was something else entirely. It was so refined that it pierced straight through the chakra core, forcing detonation.

Seeing it in action for the first time, Pakura forgot why she was even sent there. She instinctively began comparing herself.

And she had to admit—she was no match in speed or precision.

Whoosh!

Li Yao's clone, cloaked in his signature Flowing Wind Armor, flashed beside her in an instant. She hadn't even noticed until he asked,

"What are you doing here? Where's your sister?"

So fast!

This jerk!

Still dazed, Pakura answered sulkily,

"My sister sent me to support you."

Shing shing...

Without missing a beat, Li Yao fired off several more Wind Slashes, clearing the sky overhead.

Then he turned serious.

"I'm heading to assist Granny Chiyo. I'll deal with the enemy in the sky."

"If we let this continue, the casualties will only grow worse."

Pakura tensed.

It was true—the enemy's chakra reserves were monstrous, like a Tailed Beast. At this rate, Sunagakure would collapse first.

Many shinobi had already depleted their chakra.

Even she could only maintain her Scorch Release output for another ten minutes before burning out.

She glanced at Li Yao.

"Can you really reach that high and hit the enemy?"

If not, maybe it would be better to focus on saving civilians.

"I'm certain—I can do it," Li Yao declared firmly.

"Alright." Pakura 's expression hardened. She looked up at the dense cloud of clay birds.

"I'll cover this area. That flying bastard is all yours."

Fiery, huh?

You'll be calling me daddy soon enough, Li Yao thought with a smirk as he glanced at her bare back.

"I'll make it quick."

He handed the area over to her and raced toward Chiyo's position.

Along the way, he used high-level Wind Slashes to rescue both shinobi and civilians, drawing waves of gratitude.

Elsewhere, Rasa also worked frantically to save as many lives as possible.

In this moment of crisis, each of Sunagakure's elite showed their own brilliance.

But only the one who defeated the enemy and ended the attack would earn true glory.

It had been five minutes since the assault began.

During that time, Li Yao's clay birds had bombarded the village without pause. Fire and explosions were everywhere.

The psychological toll was immense.

Now it was time for Li Yao's Wind Clone to emerge as the savior—defeating the invader and "saving" the village.

That would all but guarantee his ascension to Kazekage.

"Damn it!"

"Is that guy a walking Tailed Beast?!"

Atop the Kazekage Building, Chiyo manipulated her famed White Secret Technique: The Ten Puppets of Chikamatsu, hovering mid-air as she intercepted wave after wave of clay birds.

Even she, a legendary puppeteer, found her creations damaged.

If she was struggling, others didn't stand a chance.

Yet the clay birds continued—endless.

They now believed: even the Third Kazekage hadn't been strong enough.

If this relentless assault could wear down even him, what hope did they have?

Despair spread among the defenders.

"Sister, we should retreat."

Ebizō approached Chiyo.

"Almost everyone has reached the shelters. There's no need to stay here. Living is what matters now."

It had only been five minutes—but under this constant assault, almost everyone who could eBakuate had already done so.

Staying here would only lead to more casualties.

The shelter's sealing barriers could hold for a whole day of bombing.

From what they knew, the mysterious bomber didn't seem interested in destroying the entire village. Once his objective was met, he would leave.

Ebizō remained calm—an island of reason in a sea of panic.

His advice was sound.
