The strollers were lifted instead of pushed for easier descent down the jet.
Valentina kept her gaze lowered, hoping to just get this stage over with.
"We did it, Zelly. We're down," Bianca spoke to the baby who giggled at her as if she could truly understand her.
Valentina was the last to alight. When her feet touched the ground, she finally looked up.
From that point, it was a couple of paces before she finally began to see clear faces.
The very first person she made out was Salvatore.
Only he wasn't looking back at her. His expressive eyes were fixated on the strollers rolling their way.
They all finally arrived, and whispers instantly began to echo round.
"What is this?" Vittorio was first to ask.
Not maliciously, but with genuine curiosity.
Valentina stepped forward protectively, and as she became fully visible, gasps followed the echoes.
"Hello Vittorio," she said.
He double blinked at her appearance. There was a noticeable difference with her.
