Over the next few days, Yosuke continued gathering information throughout Konoha, but there was very little of real value to be found.
In the entire Hidden Leaf Village, the only person with the surname Uzumaki was Uzumaki Kushina. This puzzled Yosuke to no end.
Normally, children inherit their father's surname—especially when the father is none other than the Hokage, Namikaze Minato.
Following that logic, Naruto Uzumaki's father should also bear the Uzumaki name. Yet nowhere in Konoha could Yosuke find a second person with that surname.
If the Sage of Six Paths hadn't personally confirmed that the Child of Destiny, Uzumaki Naruto, would be born in the Leaf, Yosuke would have already left to search elsewhere.
Fortunately, Naruto's birth was approaching soon, and the one thing Yosuke had plenty of was time.
Yosuke had always wanted to learn ninjutsu—a new kind of power—but he had no means to acquire it.
He even asked the system whether he could obtain ninjutsu, but the system clearly answered: he could not.
The reason was that the system was part of the laws of Yosuke's original world. After coming to the Shinobi World, the two were no longer compatible.
The system also revealed something else: chakra did not originate from this world. It was a foreign power brought in from another realm.
Every human—and even every animal—in this world carried inherited genetic markers for chakra. Through evolution, their bodies had developed chakra pathways to adapt to the energy produced within them.
Yosuke even joked, "So this counts as cultural invasion too? Did the will of this world not resist it?"
The system didn't answer immediately. Only after a long silence did it reply:
[In some worlds, the ones that govern fate are not the world-wills themselves, but certain beings born within the world. Each of these beings possesses strength that surpasses the world-will, making resistance impossible.]
Ever since the day Yosuke died and the system took on his appearance to speak with him, he could clearly sense that the system's voice had begun to sound more human.
Now, in its deep tone, it continued:
[A world-will treats all beings equally. Only by being impartial can the world function stably.]
[But once certain beings gain overwhelming power, they think themselves above the world-will, capable of replacing it. They believe their rule would bring prosperity—but in truth, they only act in the interest of their own kind, showing utter disregard for all other forms of life.]
[This inevitably causes the destruction of the world's ecological balance, leading the world toward ruin. To survive, such worlds often resort to invading other worlds.]
Yosuke fell silent.
In his world, beyond the conflict between the Demon Slayer Corps and the demons, even nations waged war with one another. These battles were usually caused by squandering resources, followed by attempts to compensate through invasion and plunder—just as the system described.
[Originally, our world-will chose the Priest Master as its representative because of his kindness and willingness to sacrifice. It hoped that granting him power would allow him to help refine the world's laws.]
[But once he obtained immense power, he gradually lost his way. He wanted to replace the world-will and become a god, believing that under his rule the world would flourish. What he failed to realize was that, by deeming himself divine and disregarding all other lives, he was only accelerating the world's destruction.]
[Host, I hope you can maintain your true heart. You are now the chosen successor of the world-will. You can replace it at any time. If even you lose yourself to power, then our world will have no future.]
Yosuke laughed freely.
"Don't worry. I'm not that obsessed with power. Once I retrieve the fragment of law stolen by the Priest Master and bring it back, I'll return it to the world-will. That power was never meant to belong solely to me."
Elsewhere, a reply from the Land of Iron arrived in Konoha.
In an underground base, Aburame Ryoma knelt respectfully on one knee while Danzo, seated above, read the letter with a gleam in his eyes.
"Heh. That monkey's son Asuma truly is something. No wonder the old monkey never even considered him for the Hokage position. Rebellious, hot-blooded, impulsive—just those three traits alone disqualify him. And now he's brought some unknown warrior named Ubuyashiki Yosuke into the Leaf. What a joke."
The letter Danzo held was penned personally by General Mifune of the Land of Iron. It read:
[The Land of Iron has no samurai wielding an ominous demon blade named Ubuyashiki Yosuke.]
Aburame Ryoma asked, "Danzo-sama, shall we detain Kiriya Yosuke immediately?"
Danzo gave a cold laugh.
"No rush. Ryoma, tell me—why would this Yosuke come to the Leaf?"
Ryoma vaguely sensed where this was going but bowed his head. "This subordinate does not know."
"At a time like this—when Uzumaki Kushina is pregnant—a powerful unknown individual suddenly appears? His intentions are anything but small…"
Danzo issued his order:
"Ryoma, go meet this Yosuke. Tell him I want to see him. Then notify the sealing unit in Root to drop all other missions. For the next seven months, their only priority is to train in sealing techniques."
'Yes!' Ryoma withdrew to relay the instructions.
At that moment, Yosuke was admiring the scenery in Konoha's forest when—
Suddenly, not far away, he heard the sounds of slashing and sharp exhalations.
Approaching, he found a brown-haired man with long bangs, wearing a ninja cap, a black bodysuit, and a green flak jacket. Dark circles marked his face. He gripped a katana, practicing sword techniques.
The man's face was pale, and between swings he would cough occasionally.
Yet despite that, he continued swinging without rest, purely driven by will.
This unwavering determination moved Yosuke. He stepped forward and advised, "Training like this won't be effective."
Hearing the unexpected voice, the man stopped mid-swing and looked at Yosuke warily. "Who are you?"
"Ubuyashiki Yosuke."
Recognition dawned on the man.
The news of Yosuke's clash with Uzumaki Kushina—and Minato stepping in to stop them—had already spread throughout the Leaf. Everyone knew that a powerful, wandering samurai from the Land of Iron had arrived.
"I am Gekko Hayate. May I ask why you say my training is useless?"
As a swordsman himself, he held great respect for samurai of the Land of Iron and asked earnestly.
"Your body can't handle such intense training. Forcing it will only cause further damage until it becomes irreversible. You might see some short-term improvement, but that burst won't last. In the end, your strength will drop far below what it is now. You're still young—there's no need to use methods that burn through your body."
To someone who worked so hard, Yosuke felt genuine respect and patiently explained everything in detail.
