Chapter 14: An Easy Meal!

The next day, after resting for a while,
Goten and Trunks met in one of the forests, ready to begin their search for the Dragon Balls.
"Trunks, what's that device in your hand…?"
Goten looked curiously at the Dragon Radar that Trunks was holding.
"This is called the Dragon Radar… with it, we can find the Dragon Balls much faster."
"Really… that's amazing!"
Trunks nodded, and when he looked at the radar, he was surprised to see that five balls were all in the same place.
"Could a human have gathered this many Dragon Balls…?"
Trunks thought as he slipped the radar into his pocket.
"Alright, Goten, follow me…"
Goten nodded, and immediately, the two set off to search for the Dragon Balls.
For two powerful Saiyan fighters,
it was easier than drinking water.
Instead of heading straight for the five balls, Trunks decided to go after the remaining two first.
Easily, Goten and Trunks found one hidden beneath a sandy dune in the desert.
The other one was harder to get—
a giant whale had swallowed it.
Although the two could have easily killed and destroyed the whale, they decided not to.
By entering the whale's stomach, they managed to retrieve the Four-Star Dragon Ball,
along with the Three-Star Ball they had already secured.
"Alright, Goten… looks like the rest of the Dragon Balls are all gathered in one place."
"About 550 kilometers east of here."
Goten nodded, and the two quickly set off.
Before long, they arrived at a mountain—or rather, a cave.
Inside the cave, they found the remaining Dragon Balls.
"How strange… who would collect all the Dragon Balls and just leave them here?"
Although Goten said this, Trunks didn't really care.
For them, this was actually better,
like an easy and delicious meal.
Gathering all the Dragon Balls, Trunks smiled as he carried them out of the cave.
"Appear, Shenron… and grant my wish!"
BOOOOM!
A violent storm erupted as the sky turned dark with black clouds.
Before Goten and Trunks' eyes, an enormous green Eastern Dragon appeared.
"You have three wishes… speak your first!"
Shenron's deep, terrifying voice resounded.
"I wish for my father, Son Goku, to come back to life…"
Goten shouted immediately with excitement, while Trunks looked on with a faint smile.
"He means to revive everyone who died from Cell's explosion on King Kai's planet, except for Cell himself of course…"
Trunks explained.
"Simple! Son Goku and the others have been restored, but he still remains in the Other World on King Kai's planet!"
Shenron declared, and upon hearing this, Goten jumped in joy.
"Now, what is your second wish?"
Shenron asked Trunks, who fell into deep thought.
"I do have some wishes that would help me train, but… I feel like the Majin Buu events are approaching.
If I make a wish now, the Dragon Balls will vanish, and they won't be usable again for a whole year."
Thinking this, Trunks sighed and waved Shenron away.
At once, Shenron disappeared in a golden flash as the Dragon Balls scattered across the world.
"Hmmm… why did Shenron leave?" Goten asked, looking at Trunks.
"Don't worry about it… let's go get your father now."
"Yeah, let's go!!" Goten shouted, preparing to fly off.
"Wait, Goten… we'll use my Instant Transmission technique instead!"
Trunks stopped the overly excited Goten.
"You mean the one you were training on in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber…?"
Goten asked with curiosity.
Trunks nodded with a smile. Although he had mastered Goku's Instant Transmission after defeating him,
he couldn't just suddenly reveal he had it without practice.
So, while pretending to train with Goten,
Trunks had actually been developing this technique.
The principle of Instant Transmission was simple:
sensing someone's ki and teleporting to it using Yardrat magic,
which Goku had learned after defeating Frieza in Dragon Ball Z.
Trunks, however, thought differently—
he could leave his own ki in a set location and teleport there anytime,
making it faster and easier than tracking someone else's ki.
So, while pushing his Super Saiyan 4 training forward,
Trunks was also honing this improved version of Instant Transmission.
Though he struggled to keep the ki from fading too quickly over time,
he eventually succeeded.
This marked a breakthrough in his mastery of Instant Transmission.
"Alright, are you ready, Goten?"
Trunks asked with a smile as he placed a hand on Goten's shoulder.
"Yeah… let's go!"
And with Goten's words, the two vanished instantly.

On King Kai's planet.
Goku was training as usual, while King Kai had been watching Goten and Trunks for some time.
When he saw Goten wish for his father's return, he sighed.
"Like father, like son… this boy forgot about us!"
He sighed in disappointment, but when he saw Trunks clarify the wish and include him as well, he smiled.
"If only Goku had half the brains this boy does…"
King Kai muttered with a smile as he turned toward Goku,
who suddenly stopped training when he felt himself alive again.
He looked at his hands, then at his body, before grinning.
"Hehehe… now I can fight Trunks again!"
"….."
Trunks and Goten had just arrived, and upon hearing this, Trunks felt a headache coming.
This Son Goku would probably keep challenging him every single day.
