Chapter 56 - Truth in The Shadows

The night air was still, the moon hanging low over the campus like a silent witness. Inside the boys' dorm, the atmosphere was anything but calm.

Lucian leaned against the window, arms crossed, eyes sharp as always. Devin sat on the couch, spinning a silver ring around his finger, lost in thought. Davon paced slowly across the room, his expression unreadable.

Finally, Devin broke the silence. "We can't keep lying to them, Davon."

Davon stopped. "Lying?" His tone was low, defensive.

"Yes," Lucian said flatly. "You've seen what's happened — Ellie's gone off the rails, and the girls are already half-suspicious. If anything worse happens, they deserve to know who we are. At least Patricia and Anastasia."

Davon exhaled heavily. "You think I don't know that? But telling them means dragging them into danger. The less they know, the safer they are."

Devin's jaw tightened. "Safe? You really think ignorance equals safety? Because I don't."

Lucian pushed away from the wall, walking over. "They've already seen too much. If they find out from someone else, it'll destroy their trust in us — and you know Elise trusts you the most."

That name hung in the air like a spark ready to ignite. Davon turned away, his voice quieter. "Exactly why I can't tell her yet."

Devin frowned. "So we tell the other two?"

Lucian nodded. "Yeah. Anastasia and Patricia. They're sharp — they'll understand. And they'll keep Elise calm if she ever starts asking questions."

Devin hesitated, then glanced at Davon. "We'll tell them tomorrow night. But…" he gave a lopsided grin, "you better not stop us this time."

Davon didn't answer at first. His gaze drifted toward the moonlight spilling across the floor, memories flickering in his eyes — the blood, the battles, the centuries-old curse they carried.

Finally, he muttered, "Do what you want. But Elise stays out of it. Not yet."

Lucian smirked slightly, exchanging a look with Devin. "Fine. But don't think we won't protect her too."

Devin leaned back, arms behind his head. "Guess it's settled then. Tomorrow, we tell them."

Davon's eyes glowed faintly red in the dim light, a flash that vanished as quickly as it came. "Just make sure they can handle the truth… because once they know, there's no going back."

The room went silent again, heavy with the weight of what they were about to do. Outside, the night wind whispered through the trees — carrying with it a sense of change, and the faintest echo of something dark watching from afar.
