Maya woke up to her phone exploding. Hundreds of notifications. Messages. Tags. Comments. The game highlights had gone viral overnight.
Great. Just what I needed.
Zoe was already awake, scrolling through her laptop with a manic grin. "You're famous. Like, actually famous. ESPN covered the game. Sports Illustrated wants an interview. There's a think piece in the Washington Post about gender barriers in youth sports."
"It's 7 AM. How are you this awake?"
"Adrenaline. Also, coffee. Lots of coffee." Zoe turned her screen around. "Look at this highlight reel. Your chip has been viewed over two million times."
Maya groaned, pulled the pillow over her head. "Make it stop."
"Can't stop fame, bestie. You're officially a big deal now."
A text from Dean Thorne interrupted: My office. 9 AM. Media management meeting.
Another from Coach: Team meeting at 10. Mandatory. Don't be late.
And one from Ethan: Morning, champion. Ready for the circus?
