Ava did not realize she had left her phone behind.
Not until she was back in her room, the door closed softly behind her, the silence settling around her after snooping around. She knew that she had done something she shouldn't have been doing but once she started it was hard to stop.
She stood there for a moment, her back against the wood, her heart still beating faster than it should have been. Damian's room lingered on her skin, the faint scent of him that lingered everywhere in his room. the weight of his presence even when he wasn't there. She pressed her palm briefly to her chest, grounding herself, then exhaled slowly. She must really be out of her mind for thinking of him this way.
It was only when she reached for her phone out of habit that her fingers met nothing but air.
Ava frowned.
She turned, scanning the room, then checked the bedside table. Nothing. Her brow creased deeper as realization dawned.
She had taken it out in Damian's room.
