Chapter 80 - Time Poker

Minutes earlier:

Todor, leaning against a wall, close to a regular referee.

Todor: Hey, ref' guy.

Referee: Huh? M-ME?

Todor: What? You haven't seen perfection yet? I want to ask a favor.

Referee: F-From me? What could you- . . . Huh? I guess, sure...

Todor: It was the CEO, right? What did he say?

Referee: Just tell already why you are here...

Todor: So, the next game starts soon, and I'm pretty sure Bandeer wants me to play a game against Greg for some reason.

Referee: Should I do something against it or what? They are allowed to play whatever game there!

Todor: Not that, I'm thinking about what kind of game would Bandeer come up with. Since there is not much time for it, it's probably a quick one, but there is a possibility that the game has to do something with itself.

Referee: Time? So what?

Todor: If my theory turns out to be true, I want you to do something, it would just be a small thing, I swear.

Back to the game

Time Poker ! !

Bandeer: What is really important, that there will be secret rules and events! Like, for example, if X wins, then in the next turn, Y is guaranteed to get a specific card! (This is not an actual rule from the game next being played)

Bandeer takes out a pile of playing cards from his sleeves.

Bandeer: 10 cards! You will play with 10 cards in total! Though, I will not tell which cards these are! You have to figure it out, you can call it the 1st secret rule!

Todor (The first secret rule is cracked. By how he holds those cards, like in the 3rd game, and how he glanced at me for a fraction of a second, those 10 cards are the same as the cards from Joker's Gambit, so the deck should look like this -> 1;1;2;2;3;3;4;4;J;J)

Bandeer: As the name of the game suggests, this game has to do something with time. Let me tell you right away! It will be the resource you two will bet with!

Greg: Care to explain how?..

Bandeer: Since you asked so nicely... Kukuku! Since the...

Radio interrupts him: Point Poker starts in 18 minutes! Be ready until then!

Bandeer: 23 minutes? Interesting then, I will end the explanation of the rules and start the game when we will have exactly 16 minutes left for Point Poker! We will end the game at the latest when there is only 1 minute left for it to start!

Todor: So the game will last 15 minutes.

Bandeer: Kukuku! Well, maybe. Depends on how good you will play!

Todor: How shocking. I absolutely did not think about that.

Bandeer: STOP! KUKU!! There is no way you would have known about it!

Todor: You are going to run out of your time...

Bandeer: Kuku... So, then I'm going to explain how the betting works!

Betting:

Starting pot is 15 seconds

Maximum first bet is 1 minute

If you want to raise, the maximum is twice as the previous bet or raise.

The maximum that can be in the pot is 5 minutes!

The starting pot can increase!

Greg: How can it increase?

Bandeer: Kukuku! Up to you to figure it out! Also I'm not done explaining the rules for betting! It will be a little different since you don't own time, like you own chips at a poker table, so if you raise, it does not immediately go to the bet. Imagine the bet is currently 1 minute exactly, then if the next player is raising to 2 minutes, then the bet is not 2 minutes yet, if that player decides to fold, then that player will lose that 1 minute, the bet only becomes 2 minute if the other player calls, and the last case, the other player raises, let's say to 3 minutes, in this case, the bet become 2 minute, since the other player originally raised up to that point, and it only becomes 3 minutes if that player calls or raises again. Well? What do you think?

Greg: This makes sense... Since time is abstract, you can't just push "2 minutes" into the pot, it needs to be validated. If you think about it, in real poker as well, if you raise, but no one calls, then you gain the same as winning without raising.

Bandeer: Yeah, like it? Though there is one more thing to be explained about it! The time you bet with it determines the end of the game!

When you start, the game has exactly 15 minutes left from the game. As I have decided though, if one of you wins the bet, the end time of the game will be shortened by the amount of time that is in the pot, if the other one of you is the winner of a round, then it will be added to the end time of the game!

This is what will also decide the winner, if the game still would need to continue, Greg will win, and if the game countdown reaches zero before the gametime reaches 15 minutes since the start of the game, Todor will win.

Todor: ...

Bandeer: Why? I think it's really cool!

Also! If one player raises, the other player has to react to that first! When the cards are being dealt, before any raises and bets, both of you can decide if you want to drop 1 of your cards to get another one for it!

Naturally, the game will go in back and forth - X does this, Y reacts to it - even if I am the one who reacts to it, yours, the players are not allowed to take more than 15 seconds in one round. Otherwise, you will take a penalty loss equal to what is in the pot at the moment!

Greg: Is that it?

Bandeer: Almost... Kukuku! There will be a community card that I will show, but only to one of you! It will still function as a regular community card, it counts as both of yours cards, but only 1 of you get to see it, figure out how I decide!

Todor: Amazing, really...

Bandeer: What's with your... Kuku... Whatever... Both of you are ready? Then let me deal the cards for the first round, and start!
