The soft light of the morning sun broke through the curtains of the hospital room, painting the white walls in golden hues. A faint scent of antiseptic lingered in the air, but over it - a barely perceptible smell of something new, something familiar.
Minjun slowly opened his eyes. His head felt slightly heavy, his body weak after the operation, but the first thing he saw was a familiar silhouette. Hyuk was sitting nearby, holding a baby neatly wrapped in a white blanket. His gaze was full of awe and such pure love that Minjun's breath caught.
"Minjun..." Hyuk looked up, noticing that the omega was awake. His voice was soft, almost a whisper. "Look... this is our son."
He carefully got up and came closer. The baby, as if sensing the movement, squeaked and stirred a little, wrinkling his face and breathing quietly. Minjun held out his hands, and Hyuk gently passed the baby to him.
"Careful... he's so tiny..." his voice trembled.
Minjun pressed the baby to his chest, and tears immediately welled up in his eyes. A tiny face, tiny fingers that weakly clutched the fabric of his hospital gown. The scent - warm, fresh, like life itself.
"He's... he's perfect," Minjun whispered, touching his forehead with his lips. Tears rolled down his cheeks, but they were tears of happiness. "Look at him, Hyuk... his eyes... they're as dark... as mine."
Hyuk sat down next to him, embracing them both, holding them close. His chin rested on the top of Minjun's head, his breath warm and steady.
"I don't even know how I deserved you," he said quietly. "But I swear, I'll never let you go. You are my everything."
At that moment, the doctor entered the room. She smiled, seeing the scene before her.
"Congratulations again," she said softly. "The delivery was successful. Both you and the baby are fine. But, Minjun-ssi, you need to stay in the hospital for at least a week. We need to monitor your vitals and make sure your body has recovered after the operation."
Minjun nodded, gently pressing the baby to him.
"I understand," he replied quietly.
The doctor smiled once more and left, leaving the three of them in the warm silence.
Hyuk looked up at Minjun and the baby. His heart was filled with tenderness and pride. A feeling settled inside him that was impossible to describe in words: he wanted to protect them both, to hold this small world in his hands.
In the evening, returning home to get their things, Hyuk spent a long time packing a bag. He folded Minjun's favorite soft pajamas, comfortable slippers, and books that might entertain him in the hospital. And next to them - tiny onesies and blankets they had bought in advance, as if they had a premonition of this day.
Every item caused a slight tremor in his chest. "Now I'm a father," the thought crossed his mind. A word that made the world seem both frightening and bright.
After packing, he sat on the sofa. The room was unusually quiet without Minjun. His gaze fell on the phone, and his fingers automatically dialed a familiar number.
"Hello?" the even, familiar voice of the secretary answered.
Hyuk closed his eyes for a moment, gathering his strength.
"It's Hyuk," he said firmly. "I wanted to tell you... everything went well. Minjun is fine. And we have a healthy baby boy. With dark eyes... like Minjun's."
Silence hung on the other end of the line. Then the secretary sighed.
"I am glad to hear that."
Hyuk gripped the phone tighter.
"Can you tell me how I can contact his father? I want... I have to tell him. He has a grandson now. And I want to bring him to the hospital so they can meet."
The secretary's voice remained reserved, but a soft note slipped into it:
"Think about it, Hyuk-ssi. Mr. Kim is not easy to convince. But I hear... that you are sincere. I'll contact you later."
Hyuk nodded, even though he knew he couldn't be seen.
"Please... just let him look at his grandson."
When the call ended, he sat in silence, looking at the neatly folded clothes. And for the first time in a long time, not only anxiety but also hope appeared inside him: maybe the baby could connect what had seemed impossible before.
