Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Demon vs the Trio

*The Trio ventures through hell trying to find a place where they can at least sit down without getting burned*

Azrael: AAAAH! THIS PLACE IS A DAMNED HELL!

Nevaeh: Honey, it literally is hell.

Null: (sigh) But it is complicated. We can't rest in peace here without feeling like we're swallowing hot peppers every time we breathe.

Nevaeh: Really? But I feel fine. I'm not hot.

*Azrael and Null look at Nevaeh, not believing what she said.*

Nevaeh: (curious) What's wrong?

Azrael: You really don't feel hot? Not even a little bit?

Nevaeh: No, not at all.

Null: (thoughtful) Now that I think about it, how did you guys get here?

Nevaeh: Well...

Azrael: It's a long story, I'll just say it was the work of a deity.

Null: (somewhat surprised) Deity? Which one?

Azrael: How curious (sigh). I don't know. I don't know him and I don't know anything about him, I'll just say that his name is Alcanor.

Null: (surprised) That guy?

Nevaeh: (curious) Do you know him?

Null: Yes, let's say so. You could say that thanks to him I'm still alive, otherwise I would have been killed by a giant winged eye (sigh). And how did you find him? Or how did he find you?

Azrael: I'll tell you the story, since Nevaeh doesn't know much about it.

*Azrael takes a breath and then says*

Azrael: It may sound unrealistic to someone like you, but it all started with me and a friend named Hanzo. A portal appeared out of nowhere and sucked us in, and then we appeared in a different place and had to face two gods. I faced one named Baldur, and Hanzo faced another named Heimdall.

Null: Gods? So there are even more gods? —He sighs and falls to the ground as if his brain is burning— And I thought they were just scriptures or hieroglyphics or something (sigh). Well, the truth is, nothing surprises me anymore.

Nevaeh: (laughing) It seems that Null has already seen less common things to say that.

Azrael: (laughing) It shows (sigh). Well, I'll continue: at first we had some problems because we didn't know what was going on, but then I used all my power and killed Baldur, and Hanzo didn't hold back either and defeated Heimdall, and then more things happened. I thought I had killed Baldur, but he survived and regenerated, but what stopped me was someone I think was called Freya, as far as I remember.

Null: So much happened (dizzy).

Nevaeh: I can't believe you went through all that (surprised), I'm always impressed by how strong you are.

Azrael: (proud of what Nevaeh said) Well, you know I'm very strong, I always am (coughs), well, I'll continue.

When Freya arrived, she asked us not to kill them, and at first I just laughed, but when Baldur broke free from my grip and I saw that Freya had no other intention, I had no choice but to reluctantly let them go (sigh), and then there was an explosion and a girl appeared and suddenly it started raining fire, thank goodness, and then a female deity descended, or at least that's what she looked like, and when she descended, an overwhelming power covered the entire place, so powerful that all those gods, including Freya, Baldur, Heimdall, and other gods and those Asgardians or whatever they called themselves, retreated, thus stopping the war, and I was left trembling, as that power had no limits; in fact, I think it even surpasses limitlessness.

Null: (surprised and afraid) That much!? Does someone so indescribably powerful really exist?

Nevaeh: (afraid) I didn't expect that.

Azrael: (laughing nervously) And to top it all off, we haven't even gotten to the part about how we got here yet.

*Nevaeh and Null listen attentively to Azrael's story*

Azrael: When the war ended, I saw how suddenly everything began to distort, and Hanzo and I crossed a portal to see the goddess herself with two other beings, but I couldn't tell how powerful they were because I couldn't detect the energy of either of them. And out of nowhere, one of them, who was a girl, seemed to get angry when she saw Hanzo, and before I knew it, Hanzo lost an arm and couldn't regenerate it.

Nevaeh: Poor Hanzo, who were they and how could they take Hanzo's arm away as if it were nothing?

Null: A girl, huh (thoughtful), how to describe her.

Azrael: You seem to know something, but anyway, from what I've heard, her name is Alanai.

Null: (surprised) Alanai!

Azrael: (with a raised eyebrow) I'd like to meet her.

Null: Let's just say she wasn't very friendly and that she was the one who threw me into this hell, literally (sigh).

Nevaeh: I understand everything now.

Azrael: Well, enough of these stories, I'm getting bored!

*But just as everyone was about to resume their search, something in the atmosphere changed. Everything became more tense, oppressive, and hot, and then a powerful and immense presence appeared several miles away from where the trio was*.

Azrael: WATCH OUT!

*Azrael covers Nevaeh in his arms and creates his multi-layered barrier, while Null covers himself with a shield made of fire and lightning, and a shockwave of pure heat and energy spreads throughout the area.*

Null: Grr —he uses more energy to strengthen the shield— what the hell is going on?!

Azrael: I don't know, but I think something is coming, and it's very powerful!

*Azrael and Null's barrier and shield begin to crack, and Nevaeh has no choice but to try something*

Nevaeh: I don't know if it will work, but I'll do what I can.

*Nevaeh concentrates a large amount of energy, and just as Azrael's barrier and Null's shield are destroyed, Nevaeh manages to summon a large portal that serves as a shield against the shockwave*

Nevaeh: Just in time (tired).

Azrael: Yes, but this isn't over.

Null: I think peace and quiet have gone on vacation.

*Null prepares his sword and concentrates all his energy, and a dark, gravitational aura with great power surrounds Azrael's entire body as he assumes a combat stance.*

Azrael: They're getting closer.

*Out of nowhere, a demon resembling a minotaur with red-hot fire on its head strikes the portal with immense force, but its murderous intent pierces through the defenses, managing to stagger and disconcert everyone.*

Azrael: This won't be easy, he said as he prepared himself. It will be a fight to the death, and I have no intention of dying.

Null: I won't die either, so we're in this together now, and we'll get out of here as a team.

Nevaeh: I'll do what I can too!

Azrael: That's my girl. I'll protect you with my life, Nevaeh. I won't let this monster touch you.

*Everyone nods, and Nevaeh deactivates the portal just as the minotaur is about to fall forward, allowing Null and Azrael to take advantage of the opportunity to attack with everything they've got from the start.*
