Theo landing awkwardly outside, had his knees bending as his feet tilted He froze instantly with a pounding heart he waited for a shout that never came.
~Quiet~
The everyone was asleep.
Theo wiping imaginey sweat from his forehead "that was a close call"
Elizabeth sneaking behind him "Yeah that was what are we hiding from"
A shiver running down Theo is spine made him scared quickly covering her mouth he jumped holding her into a nearby bush "shushhhhh*
After afew moments he let go of her mouth
Elizabeth ready to beat him for this was cut short as the two hurried the doctor walk to the kitchen
The two going as quiet as a rock didn't even move till the doctor walked back to his room
Theo not wasting a moment got Eliza' hand and run for it stopping down the road
Eliza panting for exhaustion "what the hell Theo why are we running from your dad mister Levin didn't ground you again did he?"
Theo equally exhausted crouched *No my dad didn't more importantly what were you doing sneaky into my house at the dead of night liz"
Elizabeth looking nervously away didn't respond "stop changing the subject what are you doing sneaking out of your house"
Theo looking nervously away struggled trying to explain using different hand gestures "I was going for a walk"
Elizabeth not buying it stared at him "Your going to have to try better then that"
Theo looking back gave a mocking giggle "says the home invader what do you think the other kids will say of they found out"
Elizabeth shocked by his blackmail gave a grin and pointed at him "What about you"
Confused Theo tilted his head "what about me"
Elizabeth continuing showed him a key that was on him Waving it blackmailingly "what will your dad do to you if he found out you stolen this key"
The energy lamps swayed softly with a blue glow stretching thin shadows along the paths. Theo swallowed hard and nervously looked at the key "how did you get that"
Elizabeth smiling at her victory continued Waving it "Oh this you know when you covered my mouth I just helped myself to what have was in you pocket"
"Stupid," he muttered under his breath. "This is really stupid." as they both walked towards the mountain
Elizabeth still confused asked him "so if I get this right and correct be if am wrong you saw lighting in the clear day and your first instinct is to go and investigate it" she just stared at him like he wasn't all right in the head
"Shut up I didn't ask you to come with me your just insufferable" Theo said as he walked faster had towards the path to the mountain
Elizabeth thinking internally as she run after him to catch up "sure am insufferable the insufferable one said"
The path toward the mountain wasn't one people got near Not because they were told to but because the whole of Hollowreach is surrounded by a barrier and the key this kids now had was one of many that created a temporary distortion in to barrier creating a gate
Theo hesitated at the edge of the settlement glanced at the barrier it would be invisible to any one without the ability to read energy flow closing his eyes he cried alittle as he could barely see it.
Elizabeth looking nervous turned to Theo "you not serious right am still waiting to hear you say it was a joke"
Theo giving her a smile used the key on the barrier faint crack spread and tore into a rift letting them pass through
"Isn't it just funny joke liz" Theo asked sarcastically
The two staring at the rift looked at each other Elizabeth looking at him nervously "your seriously going out there you do know there are horrors there"
Theo swallowing hard fended courage "thats the fun part isn't it you can go back if you're scared"
Elizabeth swallowing hard looked at rift "As if I would let you have the half of it"
And like that the two walked through the rift to the terrors they will find beyond the barrier
