Chapter 7 - The Ultimate Soldier

The piranhas are starting to come towards us.

I don't know how many are coming, but I'm absolutely certain there will be more than twenty.

I stood behind Archer, scared, but she seemed very calm, yet serious. It's the first time I've seen her so serious.

Rogue Archer (serious)

— "Master, Saber."

Gabriela & Saber

— "...?"

Rogue Archer

— "Get out. Go back home."

Gabriela

— "WHAT?! BUT-?!"

Rogue Archer

— "I SAID GET OUT!"

I look at Archer, still hesitant.

I don't want to leave her behind, especially not in this fog.

But my arm is being dragged along by Saber.

Saber

— "Master, cmon!"

My arm continues be dragged by Saber.

My body lets itself drift as we both disappear into the night fog.

My worry for Archer only continues to grow. What does that idiot think she's doing?!

What is she thinking of doing, playing the hero?

Please Archer, whatever you're thinking... Please come back home...

[Now, from Rogue Archer's point of view.]

I see Master and Saber disappearing between the fog. I think is better for now.

Saber was humiliated by Assassin and the only thing I could do was watching... But not now.

Saber may have been humiliated, Master may be inexperienced. But I had comrades who had felt the same way - inexperienced, humiliated, fear.

This type of situation is normal when we are not prepared for something we are not prepared for at the moment.

I turn around and I see fish figures, the same piranhas I saw. Tch... I already faced worse. This is just another day on job for me.

Rogue Archer

— (Heh, It's time to shed the first blood) "Cmon, you bastards!"

I pull out my gun, a machine gun. My precious Luisinha.

She doesn't and never will let me down as long as I'm on the front lines.

I start shooting at the piranhas. I never thought I'd be shooting at piranhas one day. But I guess that's what we Servants have to deal with. But what does it matter? My duty is to protect and help.

Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang!

The sound of gunpowder exploding, the sound of bullets firing, the sound of penetration.

A loop of the same melody I heard when I was alive. And a non-stop one. One by one they fall. One by one, the more they come.

Ayako Mitsuzuri, the girl's body that I possess, she is screaming inside me to stop, its too much. I will not make it and Im going nuts.

And she's right, I'm going nuts, but as a soldier, my duty is to be on the front line and attack.

This is what a soldier does. Advance and kill until he is killed. This is what we were trained for.

We were trained to face the worst. The worst we never imagined witnessing. We sacrificed our fear for the hope of the innocent. Of those who await the arrival of their loved ones by facing their fear.

Rogue Archer

— "Tch- It seems like you guys are endless. But I don't care, BRING ON!"

I keep firing nonstop. All the shots hit their targets, but the more they die, the more they keep appearing. They look like weeds.

This is getting worse and worse, but I have to endure it. The only option I have is my Noble Phantasm. But should I deploy it? Or is an bad idea to do it?

It seems that when one dies, they multiply.

Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang! Ba-bang!

Damn it, they're coming in droves now. Well... Looks like it's going to have to be...

Rogue Archer (chanting Noble Phantasm)

— "I didn't ask for glory. I didn't ask for applause. I was just there, and nobody else stayed. If I have to be an army, then so be it. One soldier . A thousand barriers. A thousand bullets. Zero retreats... One Against a Thous-"

BAN! BAN! BAN!

Suddenly, a silence falls. I stop to awaken my Noble Phantasm when I no longer see any piranhas in my path.

It took three shots to wipe them all out. But... HOW?! Who could possibly have done this?! A Divine Spirit?!

???

— "There's no need to do that, Rogue Servant. You did a good job."

Rogue Archer

— "What...?"

I begin to see two figures emerge from the fog and hear an unknown voice. It's definitely not Master.

And now up close, it was a woman and beside her, a man dressed in winter clothes. That man is a 100% Servant but... for some reason I feel like I know him from somewhere...

I immediately raise my machine gun.

Rogue Archer

— "Who are you!"

???

— "Calm down, calm down. We didn't come here to fight. In fact, we came here to help."

— "Im Cerejeira Elron, from Chaldea. And this my servant, Archer."

Rogue Archer

— "...?"

[Changing point of view back to Gabriela]

Saber

— "Haaaa... Haaaa... Haaaa... We are almost there Master, hold tight on me."

I continue holding tight on Saber on his back since he decided is better for me to do piggy back and carrying me.

This is embarrassing, way too embarrassing. It's like those crappy princess stories where a prince helps the princess.

But what's really affecting me is Archer...

Gabriela

— "... Archer...."

Saber

— "Don't worry, she's fine, Master. She'll be able to handle it."

Gabriela

— "I hope so..."

Then, out of nowhere, my cell phone starts ringing.

The melodic sound catches my attention. I take my phone out and when I look at the screen, a number I don't recognize is calling me.

I would normally reject unknown numbers, but at this hour of the night... it tells me I should answer...

I answer the call and bring my phone screen to my ear.

Gabriela

— "Hello...?"

???

— "Gabi?!"

A familiar voice is heard on the other end. It's Diana!

Gabriela

— "Diana! How did-"

Diana

— "I'll explain later. Come to my house. NOW! I will send my address! BYE BYE!"

She hangs up immediately. I don't know what she wants, but it seems like an emergency.Five seconds later, a notification pops up on my screen with her home address.

Gabriela

— "Saber, change of plans! Off to Diana's house, now! I'll tell you where it is, just follow my instructions."

Saber

— "Understood, Master!"
