Jayden clenched his fists. She was gonna get bitten.
What should he do? He couldn't use the Torchlight since the double-headed snake was close to Zoe's leg.
'Fuck!' Jayden clenched his teeth and shut his eyes tight.
He stepped in, pain stabbing through his leg and warm liquid crawling down from four points where the snake fangs managed to pierce him.
Zoe picked up the painful grin on his face and looked down at his leg. Her breath caught in her chest, and her hands immediately wrapped around her mouth.
It was clear he had stepped in to save her, but now, she couldn't forgive herself for being distracted, not as much as she couldn't forgive the snake.
"Jayden!" She screamed out loud slashing the snake precisely in half.
A normal snake would be caught by the tail when it's preyed on, but Mana had evaded that limitation, and now there was another head in the tail of the beast.
"How... dare you!" She roared, slashing the body of the snake into countless pieces.
It wasn't even given the time to growl in pain before Zoe turned it into diced cucumbers. She turned to Jayden with tears welling up in her eyes.
"I-I'm sorry I let down my guard", Zoe muttered, falling to his feet.
Her eyes widened—she was shocked to see that the snake barely penetrated through Jayden's skin. For an ordinary human, that was tough, but what she didn't know was that he was no ordinary human.
Zoe didn't need to think twice, she began the blood suction process, then tore the edge of her gown and used it to tie up the injury.
Jayden was completely paralysed by her actions, he just watched her drop her ego and sucked venom out of him. Tears left his eyes, not because of the pain he felt in his legs, but because he had gotten the answer to a question that had been holding him back.
The care she just showed.
Jayden smiled. Now, he knew exactly how she felt about him.
"You're okay?" Zoe muttered as she stood up to meet his gaze.
Jayden didn't reply; he was still lost in thoughts of her actions.
Zoe turned her gaze from him. "You're gonna stop staring at me, it's beginning to feel awkward."
"Thank you, Zoe", he whispered as he pulled her into a warm hug.
Zoe's face flushed completely red, she could no longer hold the storm of emotions that was welling up in her.
She smacked Jayden's head, pushing out of his arm and pointing at him, "I told you not to touch me until you've apologised"
Jayden chuckled, "Let's get this bat so we can get you a glass of water"
Only then did Zoe notice the bitterness in her mouth. She recoiled saliva in her mouth and spat it out.
"No", she grinned, "Let's get this bat and get you proper treatments."

Meanwhile, Ryan and Natasha were quietly walking their path when they noticed a single vampire bat charging at them from the sky.
No, it was charging at Natasha because Ryan was nearly invisible, thanks to his glass frog evolved aspect, which concealed his presence, and that was the bait Jayden used in devising a strategy for him.
Natasha already took a stance, prepared to strike with her spare while Ryan stood four steps away from her, holding his spare beneath his waist, until that moment when the bat was flying past him.
The bat could clearly see Ryan but it never picked up a sight signal from him, so in other words, the poor beast was thinking Ryan was some stiff tree.
Just when the bat was flying past his gaze, Ryan lifted his spare and the bat crashed right into it and fell to the ground.
He smiled, never believing such a weak strategy would work but he was proved wrong to his own face.
Natasha dropped her stance and raised a thumb at him, and he did the same to her.

Elsewhere, Tyler and Ella were intensely battling a vampire bat.
It would fly up and come back each time with a powerful strike that Tyler barely defended with his plant vines.
Tyler's vines would automatically react to defend him whenever anything was thrown at him even when he was asleep.
But his vines were too weak to hold such a powerful beast, which was why Jayden requested teaming up with Zoe's team.
He stood in front of Ella in defence while she held her blow gun waiting for the moment her aim was on target.
The vampire bat was charging in with hid claws this time
Immediately, it got into range, Tyler's vines sprang up to defend, but the bat charged right through them, slashing every vine in its way.
Tyler stumbled backwards when his defence was completely broken, his eyes met with those of the bat, watching its fore limbs that extended with long claws closing on both sides of his head
"Ellaaa", Tyler pressed as his heart began beating faster.
At the very last moment, Ella blew air into the gun and pellets blasted out, stabbing right at the beast's head and just like that, it lost control and fell to the ground.
Tyler took in a deep breath, then called for a high five..
"Good job"

In the heart of the farm, Jayden and Zoe continued on the straight path, until they got to the end.
The next part of the farm was demarcated by the same wire mesh fence.
"Beyond there is probably the zone two Mr Williams was talking about," Zoe said.
Jayden saw the door that led inside, but the feeling to walk into such a place never crossed his mind. He had begun to see how life was sweet when you were with that one person who mattered, so he wasn't ready to throw away his life.
Who knew what kinda beast were there?.
"So do these bats expect us to come looking for them in trees" Jayden sighed.
Zoe pointed towards the path they had just walked, "No, I think they're coming right to us."
Jayden turned to see a cloud of vampire bats flying right at them. "The fuck!"
