Chapter 53 - Chapter 53 Daly's Request

Chapter 53 Daly's Request

When Luze and his party arrived at Port Enmat, they had just boarded the carriage when Ms. Daly, who had come to greet them, suddenly threw out an explosive topic before they could even exchange a few pleasantries.

"The three of you should all know the role-playing method by now, right?" Ms. Daly asked with a smile, her gaze sweeping over the three of them.

How did she know?

Lu Ze's eyebrows twitched, but he remained silent.

Not only did he remain silent, but the other two in the carriage also kept quiet. Leonard and Klein glanced at Luzer together. They had both hinted at the acting method to Luzer before, and now they both understood that Luzer had mastered the method of digesting the potion.

For a moment, only the sound of horses' hooves and carriage wheels rolling over the road could be heard, and the atmosphere became strange.

Shouldn't this be something that's kept unspoken? Why say it out loud?

Lu Ze thought to himself that he didn't understand why Dai Li had brought the topic up.

"Hehe, look at you guys, you're like innocent men who don't want to reveal their romantic history. You think you haven't said anything, but you've already completely exposed yourself."

Dai Li couldn't help but laugh.

Madam, what you said is somewhat harassing.

Lu Ze's lips twitched, and he asked, "Ms. Dai Li, how did you know?"

He didn't recall ever meeting Dai Li much, so why did she reveal his secrets so quickly?

"I found out from the letters Dunn wrote to me."

Daly gently pinched her round, white fingers. "Dunn told me that Klein joined the Divination Club, and you, Luze, are trying out all sorts of rituals every day. The speed at which you two have mastered potions has exceeded his expectations. As for Leonard, I started to suspect you when I was in Tingen, but you've always been carefree and haven't paid much attention to digesting potions, so I only recently dared to be sure."

Leonard chuckled and offered no explanation.

It turned out that the captain had leaked the information.

"The captain should reflect on his actions, as he is communicating with a lady but only talking about work and not showing any romance."

Lu Ze said with a hint of helplessness, "Ms. Daly, so why are you asking this?"

So Daly began to explain. It turned out that the incident stemmed from Klein, who not only hinted at the role-playing method to Luzer but also subtly shared it with Dunn. Dunn may have sensed his intention, but because Klein hadn't explained it clearly, he didn't fully understand and couldn't ask directly, so he mentioned it in a letter to Daly.

No wonder the captain appeared in my dream last night.

Lu Ze thought to himself.

"I need your help to explain the role-playing method to Dunn in detail. It needs to be done quickly, before the church makes you keep it a secret," Daly said to them. "Sharing this method is strictly forbidden within the church. I have sworn an oath before the sacred object of the goddess that I will not share this with anyone who does not know the role-playing method. I only dared to talk to you about this after I was sure that you all understood it."

As for why the church was keeping the news under wraps, Daly didn't know either. The church only said it was confidential and she wouldn't know the reason until she was promoted to archbishop or senior deacon.

"I understand, Ms. Daly."

Klein said seriously, "When I get back from my business trip, I will talk to the captain about it properly before I make a special application."

Ms. Daly really cares about the captain; she specifically sought out an opportunity to ask us for help.

Lu Ze thought to himself.

"That's great!"

Daly seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

As the group inside the carriage talked, it traveled through the streets of Enmat. They had barely finished their conversation when the carriage arrived at the headquarters of the Enmat Night Watchers. The building's sign read, "Enmat Fishing Club," and was decorated with stylized silhouettes of fishing rods, hooks, and sea fish.

Lu Ze was stunned when he saw the sign.

He suddenly felt that, compared to that, the name Blackthorn Security Company was all too normal.

"This is a coastal area after all, and many cases happen near the water. Using this name as a cover is more appropriate," Dai Li explained, leading the group into the club.

Unlike the Blackthorn Security Company's lobby, which had partitions to separate the front and back, the fishing club's space was completely open. Several sofas were arranged around a table, forming several groups throughout the lobby. The night watchmen were scattered among the sofas in twos and threes, some chatting, others resting with their eyes closed.

The population is twice that of Tingen.

Lu Ze thought to himself, he keenly observing that although these people sat casually, their brows and eyes betrayed anxiety and unease, as if they were enduring something. A certain faint scent permeated the surroundings, which Lu Ze felt was both familiar and deeply disgusted with.

Without a doubt, it is the aura of the true Creator.

"Welcome back, Ms. Daly."

The receptionist was a handsome male waiter wearing a shirt and vest with a black bow tie. He bowed slightly to Lu Ze and the others, saying, "These three must be the reinforcements from Tingen."

When the night watchman who was closer to the front desk heard the word "Tinggen," he couldn't help but turn around and cast a scrutinizing look at the three of them.

"Please leave your names here so I can register you."

The waiter took the register and said.

Where is Captain Edward?

While Lu Ze and the other two finished registering, Dai Li asked.

"The captain had to go out on business. Before he left, he told me that he would be back tomorrow and asked me to arrange the food and lodging for everyone first, and that we could talk about anything else tomorrow."

The waiter said respectfully.

Why aren't you seeing us?

Lu Ze and the other two exchanged glances.

What does this mean? Are they deliberately ignoring us and giving us a hard time first?

Ms. Dai Li's shoulders shrugged slightly and then dropped, as if she had taken a deep breath.

"Didn't the captain say what he was going out to do?"

She asked calmly.

"I'm sorry, I don't know."

The waiter shook his head.

"."

Daly was speechless for a moment, seemingly completely speechless at the captain of the Port Enmat.

Lu Ze thought for a moment, then quickly wrote his name in the register and handed it back to the waiter. "Since we've come here to help, we'll naturally follow the host's lead. It's getting late, so please help us arrange our food and lodging."

Since it wasn't a case in Tingen, and the other party wasn't in a hurry, he had even less reason to be. He was happy to have some peace and quiet, hoping the matter would be resolved without him even having to lift a finger. It was like he'd had a free trip to Port-Enmat, and even received travel expenses.

So, under the watchful eyes of the other night watchmen in Enmat, Luze and his companions were led out of the hall and to the inn next door. This inn seemed to be owned by the local night watch team, specifically catering to out-of-town guests. Because Enmat was a transportation hub, many night watchmen and related personnel passed through, so they simply bought the adjacent building and converted it into an inn.

"They seem to be hostile towards us."

After settling into the standard room at the hotel, Leonard suddenly spoke up.

"It's mainly about me."

Lu Ze smiled and said nonchalantly.

This seems understandable, given that they had been tormented by the same enemy for a long time.
