Chapter 94 - Chapter 94 Deep Night Pursuit

Chapter 94 Deep Night Pursuit

At 2 Narcissus Street, Klein resisted the urge to immediately enjoy dinner, returning to his room under the pretense of changing clothes. In reality, he walked four steps counter-clockwise, arriving above the gray fog.

Behind the bronze long table, he skillfully materialized paper and pen, and quickly wrote down the content he was preparing to divine.

"Triss's whereabouts."

Picking up the parchment, Klein, enveloped in a thick gray mist and possessing a transcendent demeanor, closed his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and silently chanted the divination statements. After chanting seven times, he closed his eyes, entered a dream, and used his spirituality to explore the results of the divination.

In the hazy dream, he saw Triss, with her round, sweet, and gentle face, standing in a luxurious room. Opposite Triss was a veiled woman, her features obscured by the veil, but her curvaceous figure alone was enough to spark endless imagination.

Who is this, Triss's superior?

Klein wondered silently.

He tried hard to discern the furnishings of the room, or to identify the corresponding area through the window, but he couldn't. As his spirituality struggled to sustain itself, he had no choice but to withdraw from the dream, leave the gray fog, and return to the real world.

On the bright side, at least I know Triss still has a superior in Tingen, and I can tell the captain tomorrow. Klein thought this, feeling the hunger in his stomach, and hurried downstairs.

Then, he saw his sister Melissa staring at him with a strange look.

"What's wrong?"

"Klein, didn't you say you were going to change clothes?"

Melissa asked.

Hmm?

Klein looked down and realized that he had been too rushed when coming downstairs and had forgotten to change clothes. So what was the excuse he had just made?

He could only give an awkward smile and say, "Uh, I forgot."

At the same time, in a certain mansion on Orsner Street, East Borough, Tingen City.

"I've done enough for you. The Nighthawks have already found me, and I'm leaving Tingen!"

Triss handed over the bottle containing the red liquid, saying this at the same time. Her pretty, round face was now pale from blood loss, making her appear pitiful.

Opposite her, Mrs. Sharon, wearing gloves and a veil, took the bottle.

She looked at Triss, paused, then suddenly said, "You're injured?"

"No, you're cursed?"

Her tone was surprised when she spoke the first sentence. But when she spoke the second sentence, her voice became incredibly cold, as if carrying a bone-deep resentment.

Triss couldn't help but tremble, then was forced to pull open her collar at Mrs. Sharon's command, revealing her wounds. Mrs. Sharon stroked the wounds, sensing a familiar aura, and her eyes beneath the veil gradually grew cold.

"Click, click."

Lu Ze continuously wound the clockwork clown doll, infusing it with his spirituality.

Cecilia sat beside him, watching his actions, her eyes revealing a worried expression, but she said nothing.

About half an hour had passed since they returned home. Lu Ze quickly ate dinner, then began to pack his belongings, preparing to hunt down the Demoness and retrieve her heart. Ms. M had no intention of taking action, so he could only do it himself, as a Sequence 8 Beyonder, to hunt down a Sequence 7 Beyonder.

Lu Ze felt his spirituality being consumed; after about a third was used up, he stopped winding. This amount of spirituality could sustain the clockwork clown for about a minute. Although not quite enough, considering that spirituality might have other uses, this would have to do for now.

Although it was a Sequence 8 against a Sequence 7, he was not without a chance of winning.

Firstly, the opponent had already fought with the Nighthawks, and both her spirituality and items were depleted. Things like that substitute silver mirror and her invisibility materials would need to be prepared again.

Secondly, the opponent had also suffered his curse, and her physical condition was poor.

Finally, Lu Ze had quite a few trump cards. Three Beyonder items, the abilities of Listening, Secret Prayer, and Filthy Utterance, as well as the talisman embedded in the back of his hand. However, these were mainly for dealing with Ms. M, so he would try not to use them if possible.

"You seem very enthusiastic."

Ms. M looked at him and suddenly said with a smile.

"Didn't you tell me to do it?"

Lu Ze looked up at her, asking back calmly.

"Of course, I also have my own purpose. The Demoness's body, it seems, can be used as a material for a ritual."

He explained further.

The act of taking the Demoness's heart was truly difficult to conceal, so after considering it, Lu Ze simply laid it bare. He planned to take various materials from the Demoness's body, hiding the heart among them, which would make it seem less conspicuous.

"I see."

Ms. M said softly, unable to tell from her reaction whether she believed him or not.

As they spoke, Lu Ze had already finished winding the Clown and tucked it into his inner coat pocket. He then checked his various materials, reloaded his revolver and put it back in its holster, and hid his ceremonial silver dagger in his sleeve. Only then did he put on his overcoat, don his hat, and walk to the porch.

He thought for a moment and also picked up the cane standing by the Door.

"Lu Ze, be careful!"

His sister said with concern behind him.

"Don't worry, I'll be fine."

Lu Ze smiled at his sister, turned, and went out the Door.

It was getting late, the red moon shone, and a cool night breeze blew. Lu Ze tightened his overcoat and glanced at 2 Narcissus Street, one house away, where the lights were bright. He bent down, quietly passing by Number 2 to avoid making noise and attracting the people inside. If they saw him, it would be difficult to explain.

Lu Ze didn't relax until he reached the street corner. He looked left and right; there were no pedestrians on the street. He took out the blood-stained handkerchief from his overcoat pocket, then used the silver dagger to cut his palm, pressing the blood-stained part of the handkerchief against the wound. Immediately, he began to softly chant the True Creator's honorific name.

Before long, the bloodstain that had been congealed on the handkerchief suddenly began to move, extending in a certain direction.

It seems to be over there.

Lu Ze clenched his fist, covering his wound with the handkerchief, and proceeded in the indicated direction. After walking about a block, he encountered a carriage and hailed it.

"Sir, where are you going?"

The coachman asked.

"Go that way first."

Lu Ze pointed in a direction.

"Alright."

The coachman didn't care that he got a vague answer; their carriages charged by time, and the longer Lu Ze delayed, the more he earned.

Every time the carriage passed a block, Lu Ze re-positioned the direction, and eventually, he found himself on Orsner Street in the East Borough of Tingen City, circling one of the mansions several times.

That's right, she's hiding here!

Lu Ze had the carriage drive one street away, then stopped it, paid the fare, and got out.

From a distance, the house stood silently in the dark night, as if awaiting his arrival.
