Chapter 55 - Gold Shines Everywhere

Everyone enjoyed the meal, thanks to Lin Feng's surprisingly good cooking.

"Oh right, I almost forgot the main thing because we were too busy eating."

Mitsugetsu Miyako, halfway through her meal, wiped her mouth and placed a manga magazine on the table. She turned to Lin Feng with a smile. "Lin Feng, the layout and schedule for your work are all set. If everything goes as planned, your work will be officially published in next Monday's Weekly Shonen. Here's a sample; you can take a look first."

"Really? Congratulations, Lin Feng!"

Shizuka also congratulated Lin Feng after hearing Mitsugetsu Miyako.

As Lin Feng's classmate and desk-mate, Shizuka knew how much effort he had put into this manga. She was very happy for him that he was finally seeing results.

"Um, thank you."

"But Miyako, the publishing schedule is incredibly fast, isn't it…?"

Lin Feng first thanked Shizuka for her congratulations. Then, he picked up the sample copy on the table, flipping through it while looking at Mitsugetsu Miyako with some surprise.

Based on his understanding from his previous life, the process of a manga, from submission to review, then passing the review and starting layout preparation for release, would take at least a week or even half a month.

Could it be that efficiency is this high in this era? Or perhaps, in Neon Country, a country with a relatively rapid development of manga, anime, and the two-dimensional culture, is it always like this?

In fact, Lin Feng wasn't wrong in his thinking. Neon Country does indeed place more emphasis on the development of two-dimensional culture.

However, if a new author wants to go through the normal channels, step by step from submission, to review, and finally to layout and publication, it would definitely take a considerable amount of time.

But this process only applies to ordinary new authors.

It was obvious that Lin Feng wasn't just another run-of-the-mill newcomer.

Ever since Mitsugetsu Miyako accidentally discovered his work during proofreading, it immediately caught the attention of the entire leadership at the publishing house.

As the saying goes, gold shines everywhere.

Excellent works are the same.

For the editors, who had to deal with a mountain of tedious, uninteresting works every day, Lin Feng's work was a breath of fresh air.

It was like a traveler, on the verge of dying of thirst in the desert, suddenly discovering a clear spring – a feeling of excitement and elation.

Almost all the editors, after reading Lin Feng's original manuscript, were brimming with confidence in the work.

A work this excellent was almost guaranteed to be a bestseller.

That's precisely why Lin Feng's work was able to be scheduled for the Weekly Shonen magazine's layout so quickly, with its debut set for next Monday.

Of course, saying next Monday sounds far off, but it's actually tomorrow.

You can imagine just how fast this is.

Remember, Lin Feng submitted his work only yesterday morning, and now, after just today, the debut is confirmed for tomorrow.

If Lin Feng's work didn't have significant weight, it probably wouldn't have received such special treatment.

"Is this fast? Hmm... I guess it's alright..."

After hearing Lin Feng's somewhat surprised tone, Mitsugetsu Miyako recalled the discussions among the chief editors in the publishing house's office.

If Weekly Shonen didn't have a fixed update time every Monday, the publication of Lin Feng's work might have been even earlier.

Currently, the most influential manga magazine published by the publishing house is Weekly Shonen, where some classic serialized manga series have a place.

The other manga magazines, due to their smaller circulation and sales volume, didn't have their editors planning to publish the extremely promising work, Demon Slayer, in them.

In any case, they needed to use the traffic platform of Weekly Shonen to allow more readers to see this emerging work.

"So Miyako, you came here today specifically for this matter?"

Lin Feng, while flipping through the sample copy in his hands, asked with some curiosity.

He had previously learned about Weekly Shonen, and it could be said that it was Yurong Publishing's best-selling manga magazine.

Being able to publish his work in it was enough to show how much Yurong Publishing valued Demon Slayer.

Moreover, for promotional effect, Demon Slayer also occupied a relatively prominent position on the cover of the entire magazine.

"Well, it wasn't exactly a special trip. I just happened to be in the area for something else, so I figured I'd bring the sample copy over for you to see."

"Besides, you're an author I need to work with. It's not unreasonable for an editor to get a better understanding of their author's situation, right?" Mitsugetsu Miyako said with a smile, giving herself a very good reason for being there.

"Alright, well, you've seen how things are here. That's pretty much it," Lin Feng said with a shrug.

Regardless, he was very grateful to Mitsugetsu Miyako for this.

A talented horse and a good judge of horses – neither can achieve much without the other.

If it weren't for Mitsugetsu Miyako, his work might still be sitting on a desk with all the other submissions, possibly left untouched for several more days.

After all, there were simply too many submissions every day, and the number of high-quality, engaging works was far too few.

The meal concluded during their conversation.

The sky outside was already quite late, and the streetlights had come on.

Because she had to go to school tomorrow, Shizuka chose to leave after finishing the meal.

After handing over some information to Lin Feng, Mitsugetsu Miyako also left.

Another reason for her visit was that Lin Feng's work had been decided to be published in Weekly Shonen.

So, the initial royalties needed to be paid to him. However, Lin Feng hadn't filled out the relevant payment information last time. This time, Mitsugetsu Miyako came to handle that task with Lin Feng.

After all, Yurong Publishing, such a large publishing group, would be a disgrace if they delayed paying their authors' royalties.

After handing over all this information, Lin Feng happily stayed at home, waiting for the money to be transferred.

It has to be said, this feeling was pretty good.
