She closed the window before lying, wanting to shut the world on before sleeping. She wanted to sleep rest, which she was not able to do yesterday night
Aria dropped onto her bed with a sigh, the late afternoon sun slanting through her open window in warm, dusty stripes. The house was quiet, her mother in the kitchen, her father at the council meeting, the world outside humming with the lazy buzz of summer bees. For the first time all day, she could breathe.
She closed her eyes, fingers resting on the nightstand .
Just five minutes of peace. That's all she asked.
