Chapter 69. Utopia Explosive Combo Lines Explained! Yuma and Astral Were Dumbfounded!
Sei Yuki watched as the barrage of messages in the big cross-world chat kept flying by.
Even he couldn't help but grin after reading them all.
These folks sure can talk!
Because of that one Duel…
Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo instantly became the center of attention across the worlds.
Every discussion circled around those two.
Yugi Muto: "So, Yuma Tsukumo, your world is the Xyz era, right? You hardly ever see Synchro or Fusion over there?"
Yuma Tsukumo: "Yes, Senior Yugi. I heard you were the original era's King of Games. What Ace Monsters did you use back then?"
Joey Wheeler: "Haha! I'll answer for Yugi. We were all using vanilla beaters, like Red-Eyes Black Dragon, Blue-Eyes White Dragon, and Dark Magician."
Kite Tenjo: "Huh? Then your decks are really strong! I watched those themes earlier! 'Red-Eyes Dad' left a deep impression on me!"
The ZEXAL world and the DM world quickly launched into a heated, academic Duel discussion.
If they hadn't just seen how strong Red-Eyes, Blue-Eyes, and Dark Magician are in the Higher World's builds…
Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo really might have laughed at people calling "vanillas" their aces.
But now they didn't dare think that way.
On the contrary, after hearing what the DM folks said…
It sounded like their Duels were the very founding history of Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters.
That made Yuma and Kite even more curious.
The DM world!
What kind of miraculous world is it really?
What did Yugi Muto, Maximillion Pegasus, and Joey Wheeler actually go through?
Yusei Fudo: "I see. So your time is the school era, focused on Fusion?"
Jaden Yuki: "Yup! Heh-heh-heh, my Deck's HERO—HERO, okay? You saw it earlier!"
Akiza Izinski: "Is that the Destiny HERO – Destroyer Phoenix Enforcer Deck? Was that you using it? Amazing! Are students this strong now?"
Jesse Anderson: "C'mon, seniors, don't flatter us. We're nothing special. It's really your Synchros that are too cool! Stardust Dragon vs. Red Dragon Archfiend—I'll never forget it in my life!"
The 5D's world and the ZEXAL world also sparked a lively discussion.
For the faculty and students of Duel Academy…
Being able to discuss Duel theory with the actual users of Stardust Dragon and Red Dragon Archfiend was a rare, precious opportunity.
Dr. Vellian Crowler and Chancellor Sheppard wanted to seize the moment to learn the essence of Synchro Monsters.
As the four worlds collided academically…
After exchanging ideas…
The DM world and the GX world could learn Synchro and Xyz knowledge from the 5D's world and the ZEXAL world.
Conversely…
The other two worlds could learn Fusion knowledge from the former worlds.
Sei Yuki was genuinely pleased after watching.
It was clearly just a big chatroom.
But reading their conversation…
He felt a real sense of achievement—like raising these kids well.
And from it…
Sei Yuki also noticed some interesting points.
For example…
The Egyptian God Cards of the DM world and certain protagonist experiences…
Were very attractive to the other worlds.
The Earthbound Immortals, the Aesir, and the Timelords in the 5D's world…
Were likewise fascinating to the others.
Of course…
That's for later.
Right now, Sei Yuki needed to do the post-test Duel wrap-up.
Namely, summarize the lines and builds for the Utopia Deck and the Galaxy-Eyes Deck.
So Yuma Tsukumo and Kite Tenjo would understand…
What they missed during their earlier combo lines.
And what else was lacking—why the ideas didn't occur to them mid-Duel.
With that thought…
Sei Yuki immediately pulled up the relevant video.
Soon…
A title flashed on-screen.
"Utopia in Master Duel—Skyrocket! Do you really understand Number 39's true weight?"
All six Duel Worlds received the new short video that Sei Yuki from the Higher World had prepared for them.
ZEXAL World.
Seeing this, Yuma Tsukumo, Kite Tenjo, and the others quickly muted the other worlds.
Both wore serious expressions.
No doubt…
What followed would be the summary lecture.
It would show them, respectively…
What "Utopia" really is.
And what "Galaxy-Eyes" really is.
Through this video…
They were sure to learn a ton of interesting tech.
Hence…
They immediately muted the other worlds—that was one of the reasons.
In the short video…
The content creator "Soaring Guru" began explaining Utopia Deck construction.
Soaring Guru: "Welcome, welcome to the Guru's little class, Duelists!"
Soaring Guru: "Today I'm bringing my favorite build—Onomat Utopia!"
"So, as everyone knows, Utopia is an Xyz-centric, in-archetype explosive combo Deck!"
"The construction is extremely simple: besides the in-archetype 'three little guys,' you run cards like 'ZS - Ascended Sage' and 'ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber,' etc."
"Now here's the question."
"Do you really understand how Utopia explodes, and how the cards in a Utopia build fit together to make boards?"
This soul-searching question…
Shut up all Duelists who didn't understand Utopia.
And it was almost as if the question were directed at Yuma Tsukumo himself.
He had wanted to say, "Of course I do," but seeing Astral's look, he swallowed the words.
If it were a normal Xyz Deck…
He'd definitely understand.
But if it's a Higher World build…
He really didn't.
Earlier, he just played by pure Utopia instinct and the "light up what's lit" approach.
In the end, even he didn't expect to actually beat Kite Tenjo.
Soaring Guru: "Alright, let's get into combo lines."
Soaring Guru: "First we'll set aside the 'three little guys'; those are too easy to convert into boards."
"We'll start from the hand when we have two Level 4s to make an Xyz, but no Rank-Up-Magic or no way to search it."
"Line #1: If your hand is 'Dodododwarf Gogogoglove' and 'Zubababancho Gagagacoat'…"
"Normal Summon the Glove, use its effect to fetch the Coat."
"Overlay the two Level 4s to Xyz Summon 'Number 39: Utopia Double.'"
"Activate Double's effect to search 'Double or Nothing!,' then make 'Number 39: Utopia.'"
"From here you pressure with combat, and later lines can convert into broader boards once Rank-Up becomes available."
"That's it. Easy!"
Indeed!
Just looking at this 2-card line…
Yuma Tsukumo had already done it before!
So at this point, Yuma was feeling pretty proud!
At least, he'd used exactly this idea to crack Kite Tenjo's board!
The other worlds also praised Yuma at this moment.
And that was only Line #1.
Soaring Guru: "Line #2: when you can search a Rank-Up-Magic."
"If your hand has 'Utopic Onomatopoeia' plus the key 'ZS - Ascended Sage'…"
"First Special Summon Ascended Sage, Normal Summon Utopic Onomatopoeia."
"Overlay the two Level 4s to make Utopia Double."
"Use Double to search 'Double or Nothing!,' then Xyz Summon 'Number 39: Utopia.'"
"At this point Ascended Sage lets you search a Rank-Up-Magic."
"Then climb into 'Number S39: Utopia Prime' to build materials."
"Activate the Rank-Up to go into 'Number 99: Utopia Dragonar!'"
"Use 99's effect: detach 2 materials to Special Summon 'ZW - Leo Arms.'"
"Use Leo Arms's search to add 'ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber,' then equip to a 'Utopia.'"
"That gives you two monster-effect negations."
"Then on the opponent's turn, during any timing window, spend 99's materials to bring out 'Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy!'"
"That's a Spell negate online, and Titanic Galaxy can also manipulate attacks."
"Have you paid tuition yet?"
At this step…
Yuma Tsukumo, who had been following fine, suddenly froze.
Kite Tenjo, beside him, was stunned too.
Wait, a Utopia Deck?
You… actually run Galaxy-Eyes cards in it?!
Huh?!
Alright, alright—so that's how we're playing it!
Kite Tenjo nearly cried from frustration.
His Titanic Galaxy was being included in his archrival Yuma's Utopia Deck!
"Uh, so that's why my Extra had a Galaxy-Eyes card."
"I thought Sei Yuki mis-sorted the list, but it turns out it's for the 99 line!"
"Any timing? Got it, got it!"
Only now did Yuma realize why he'd seen a Galaxy-Eyes card in the Extra Deck earlier.
Turns out…
It was for establishing a first-turn negate!
Soaring Guru: "Next are the three little guys' lines."
Soaring Guru: "The standard Utopic Onomatopoeia + Glove + Coat."
"Normal Summon the Glove to fetch Utopic Onomatopoeia."
"Special Summon the Gagagacoat, making three Level 4s on field."
"Leave the Coat; overlay Utopic Onomatopoeia and the Glove to Xyz Summon 'ZS - Utopic Sage.'"
"Utopic Sage detaches 2 to Special Summon 'ZS - Ascended Sage' from the Deck."
"Gagagacoat revives Utopic Onomatopoeia; Dodododwarf Gogogoglove revives itself from the GY."
"You now have four Level 4s."
"Overlay Ascended Sage and the Glove to make 'Number 39: Utopia.'"
"Ascended Sage searches your Rank-Up-Magic."
"Then it's the same formula: climb with the Quick-Play into 99, detach to pull 'ZW - Leo Arms,' and equip with 'ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber.'"
"Meanwhile, overlay Utopic Onomatopoeia and Gagagacoat to make 'Gagagaga Magician.'"
"Detach with Magician to revive 'Number 39: Utopia.'"
"Then overlay Magician and 'ZS - Utopic Sage' to make 'Number F0: Utopic Future!'"
"Upgrade it into 'Number F0: Utopic Draco Future!'"
"Finally, on the opponent's turn, use 99 to bring out Titanic Galaxy. That's all."
"You paid tuition now?"
"..."
Silence.
The ZEXAL world fell silent again.
Yuma Tsukumo blinked, listening to this so-called Guru's narration…
Matching it with the on-screen end-board…
On the opponent's turn…
Our first-turn board ends up as:
"Number F0: Utopic Draco Future," 3000 ATK! Cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects! Monster-effect negate plus control steal!
"Number 38: Hope Harbinger Dragon Titanic Galaxy," 3000 ATK! Spell negate! Redirect attacks!
"ZW - Leo Arms" equipped to "Utopia" with "ZW - Pegasus Twin Saber," effective ATK pressure and two monster-effect negates online!
"Number 99: Utopia Dragonar," 3000 ATK! During battle, the opponent's monster's ATK becomes 0!
These four monsters…
Laid out on the field…
The board presence was absolutely maxed out!
And if your hand held more resources…
You could even make other Xyz—like Abyss Dweller, Steelswarm Roach, and other Rank 4 interruptions.
Which is just absurd!
Trying to break through that board…
Wouldn't be easy at all!
It's not inferior to Stardust Dragon's four-interrupt end-board!
"Whoa! The lines are so clever! So fresh!"
"I feel like he's better at sky-rocketing than me!"
"If you gave me this first-turn setup, I honestly wouldn't have thought to play it this way!"
Yuma Tsukumo swallowed hard after watching that end-board.
He was already totally stunned.
Astral slowly exhaled; even he hadn't expected you could logic your way into Draco Future like that.
Other Xyz Duelists were baffled too.
There's actually a Rank 0 Xyz Monster?!
What the—?!
This was the first time they'd seen a Rank 0 Xyz.
Nash and Rio Kamishiro stared wide-eyed at each other.
That Rank 0 Draco Future, along with the Rank 13 they'd seen earlier…
This world was downright magical!
Soaring Guru: "Next is the 'Chair King' line."
Soaring Guru: "The key is using 'The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch.'"
"The idea is the same—find a way to get into 99, then detach 2 materials to Special Summon 'Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker.'"
"The real core is 'Astraltopia': among its effects, one lets you send a card to the GY to search a 'ZEXAL' Spell/Trap such as 'Zexal Construction.'"
"And 'Zexal Construction' can search 'The Phantom Knights' Rank-Up-Magic Launch.'"
"So, on the opponent's turn, use that Rank-Up to rank up your 'Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker.'"
"And finally climb into 'D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga.'"
Only after the last line was explained…
Did Yuma Tsukumo and Astral truly go slack-jawed.
What the heck?
The Utopia Deck doing a dream link with The Phantom Knights?
You can even play that way?
In a flash…
They finally understood those Extra Deck inclusions from the Higher World—
Not a single slot was wasted!
Whether it was the Galaxy-Eyes Xyz monsters earlier…
Or "D/D/D Duo-Dawn King Kali Yuga" now…
Or the previously confusing "Astraltopia"…
Every card…
Could play a crucial role in the build.
And those non-Utopia extras…
They were all makeable.
It wasn't that they couldn't be made!
More outrageous still…
Was that none of these operations were complicated!
They were simple enough that even entry-level Duelists could follow!
That completely broke Yuma and Astral.
"Astral, I'm shocked!"
"These cards each have a wonderful purpose!"
"And to think I'd suspected the Higher World stuffed non-Utopia cards in just for show."
Yuma gave a bitter laugh.
Astral was just as stunned.
"Yuma, I'm not much better."
"Sei Yuki's Higher World… I really can't keep up with the leaps in thinking."
"If you tack on this 'Chair King' mini-package to Utopia, and layer it onto the first-turn board, it's incredibly hard to crack."
Astral gave a wry, self-deprecating smile.
He, too, had wondered what those cards were for.
Now, finally, it was all answered.
As for the 'Chair King's' power—the earlier Red-Eyes segment had touched on it.
That outrageous opponent-turn Rank-Up makes all other cards on the field unable to activate, and negates them.
A terrifying blanket lock and on-activation negate.
Tell me…
With that first-turn board plus 'Chair King' layered on top, how miserable would the opponent be?
