Chapter 89 - Chapter 89. Armityle Fusion Falls to Super Starslayer TY-PHON! The VRAINS World Opens!

Chapter 89. Armityle Fusion Falls to Super Starslayer TY-PHON! The VRAINS World Opens!

After all, it has a powerful effect.

Matched with easy summoning conditions.

And you can even use an opponent's monster to Link Summon.

That alone was enough for the old-guard duelists to agree this card would be a breakout hit in the Higher World.

VRAINS world.

The moment Underworld Goddess of the Closed World hit the field, the duelists of the Link world couldn't stay calm anymore.

What the heck?

What is this?

It's a Link Monster!

And what are they?

They're the Link world!

This sudden Underworld Goddess appearing broke everyone's mental guard in an instant.

"Whoa! The 'fake-card' Link boss shows up again! This guy's nuts!"

"Uh, does anyone remember what deck he's even playing? Why does he have so many ace combos that aren't even from one engine?"

"He's just drawing them—when luck comes, nobody can stop it, I'm telling you!"

"For real! His luck's cracked! He's got this one in the bag!"

"..."

Yeah.

This game, Wagatsuma Trudia's luck was basically maxed out.

Great opening draws that fed monsters to enable his second Accel.

Marshmallon in the midgame to block a lethal swing.

And in the endgame he could still make Underworld Goddess to establish a board.

He'd practically already won.

Inside the short video.

It felt like Wagatsuma Trudia was thinking the same thing right now.

Wagatsuma Trudia: "I enter the Battle Phase!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "Under the invincible effect of Underworld Goddess, your Yubel is negated."

"Attack—take 3000!"

Beloved Yandere: "I activate Yubel in the Graveyard!"

Beloved Yandere: "When this card is destroyed by a method other than its third effect, I can activate it and Special Summon 'Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever' from my hand, Deck, or Graveyard!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "Useless—Underworld Goddess activates to negate your Graveyard monster effect."

Beloved Yandere: "Oh? But you can't negate my Unchained Soul Lord of Yama in the Graveyard!"

Beloved Yandere: "I activate the Soul Lord's effect, banish it, and revive a Fiend from my Graveyard!"

"Since you like to play that way—"

"Then the Fiend I can revive, and the one with no 'revived this way' self-restriction, is—"

"'Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever'!"

After struggling, Beloved Yandere wrested back the advantage.

On the field, 'Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever' had equally strong protection.

Underworld Goddess could no longer negate 'Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever.'

The board looked like it had entered a stalemate.

Wagatsuma Trudia: "Heh… clinging to life."

Wagatsuma Trudia: "Turn end."

Beloved Yandere: "My turn! Draw!"

Beloved Yandere: "I attack your Underworld Goddess with 'Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever'!"

"I activate its effect!"

"At the end of the Damage Step when this card battles an opponent's monster, inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK, then banish that monster."

"Take 3000 LP!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "But thanks to Underworld Goddess's protection, Underworld Goddess won't be banished."

On the field, even Wagatsuma Trudia's voice was starting to sound anxious.

He had clearly realized his advantage had evaporated the moment this Fusion Yubel appeared.

Because Link Monsters can't be in Defense Position.

At the same time, he had no solution to this Fusion Yubel right now.

Once the next turn arrived, that Fusion Yubel could keep swinging at him.

And his Life Points were down to 250 LP.

GX world.

It wasn't just Wagatsuma Trudia who realized this.

Every student and teacher at Duel Academy did, too.

"He's done for—this is his last chance."

"Fusion Yubel's resistances are solid."

"And his Underworld Goddess can't deal with Yubel."

"In other words, next turn he must find a way to remove Yubel."

Jaden Yuki analyzed coolly, then smiled faintly.

The other duelists, after hearing Jaden's words, all looked thoughtful.

Savor it carefully.

Whoa.

It's true.

5D's world.

Yusei Fudo likewise noticed both duelists had hit a final-turn deadlock.

Wagatsuma Trudia: 250 LP.

Beloved Yandere: 5000 LP.

In this situation, Beloved Yandere had error tolerance.

Even if he couldn't clear Underworld Goddess, with resources churning it wouldn't be easy to get OTK'd.

But Wagatsuma Trudia had no tolerance left.

He had one last turn.

Win, or lose.

"Let me see."

"At this point, Wagatsuma Trudia—can you still turn this around?"

Inside the short video.

Beloved Yandere seemed to want to push the advantage even further.

Beloved Yandere: "Main Phase 2!"

Beloved Yandere: "I activate the Field Spell Nightmare Throne!"

"Per its effect, I search Dark Beckoning Beast."

"I Normal Summon Dark Beckoning Beast."

"Dark Beckoning Beast's effect—add my last Opening of the Spirit Gates from the Deck!"

"I activate Opening of the Spirit Gates to search Chaos Summoning Beast!"

"Don't forget—Beckoning Beast also gives me an extra Normal Summon!"

"I Tribute Beckoning Beast to Tribute Summon Chaos Summoning Beast!"

"I activate Chaos Summoning Beast's effect!"

"I Tribute it to Special Summon this monster from the Deck—Raviel, Lord of Phantasms!"

"Then I banish Chaos Summoning Beast from the Graveyard to add Uria, Lord of Searing Flames from the Deck!"

"Right now, my hand, field, and Graveyard have all three Sacred Beasts ready!"

"..."

At this point, Beloved Yandere gave a mysterious smile.

With that smile, the entire GX world shuddered again.

No way?!

Seriously?!

Could it be—

He's going to take the three Sacred Beasts and…?

Beloved Yandere: "Underworld Goddess, is it?"

Beloved Yandere: "I activate Phantasmal Summoning Beast in the Graveyard—banish it to search this card!"

Beloved Yandere: "Dimension Fusion Destruction!"

"I activate this Spell!"

"Come forth! Use the three Sacred Beasts as Fusion Material!"

"Fusion Summon!!"

"Armityle the Chaos Phantasm – Phantom of Fury!!!"

"I activate its effect—I'm giving this card to you."

"No need to be polite!"

"My End Phase!"

"I activate Armityle the Chaos Phantasm – Phantom of Fury!"

"Your Underworld Goddess—banished!!"

"...."

DM world: "???"

GX world: "???"

ARC-V world: "???"

VRAINS world: "???"

All six worlds were dumbfounded.

And their shock came in layers upon layers.

GX world was okay—they could sort of guess it.

But the other five worlds never imagined the very last line would solve Underworld Goddess.

In the group chat, messages exploded in an instant.

Maximillion Pegasus: "Good—too good! I thought he'd just bring out the Sacred Beasts to stall, but who knew—he fused!"

Kalin Kessler: "Mr. Pegasus, that's nothing! I thought after he fused he'd drop the big boss to finish in one go, but he gave the fusion to his opponent?!"

Tori Meadows: "Handing the monster over was already unexpected, but then he actually cleared Underworld Goddess! Wild!"

Zarc: "Underworld Goddess's protection targets only the opponent—it doesn't protect itself, and this 'fusion of the three Sacred Beasts,' once given to the opponent, counts as the opponent activating the effect."

Amid chatter from duelists across the worlds, reversal upon reversal and shattered dueling logic kept them stunned and unable to snap out of it.

Meanwhile, after Beloved Yandere's End Phase, Armityle the Chaos Phantasm also appeared on his own field.

The advantage spiked again.

Beloved Yandere: "Well? Ready to surrender?"

Beloved Yandere: "Without Underworld Goddess, your resources are about spent, right? Still think you can come back?"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "So strong—too strong! My turn!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "You know the saying?"

"A true Duelist makes even the result of a draw inevitable!"

"The card I draw is—my second—Shining Sarcophagus."

Beloved Yandere: "???"

Beloved Yandere: "Nani? Don't tell me—!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "That's right! I activate Shining Sarcophagus!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "I search Gandora-G the Dragon of Destruction! I Special Summon Gandora-G!"

"Since my Life Points are low anyway, I pay half my LP!"

"Destroy and banish every card on the field!"

Ultimate life-lock: 125 LP.

Gandora ATK: 12,000.

After the board wipe, Beloved Yandere still had Yubel left.

Wagatsuma Trudia: "Gandora's effect—Gadget Trio's Level increases by 4!"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "I activate Gadget Trio to search the Spell Silence of Time – Turn Silence from the Deck!"

"My field now has two Level 8 monsters!"

"But to summon this monster, I only need one monster to construct the Xyz network!"

"I think you've already guessed it, right?"

Beloved Yandere: "Ty… Typhon?"

Wagatsuma Trudia: "Correct! Overlay Xyz Summon!"

"Super Starslayer TY-PHON – Sky Crisis!!!"

"I activate TY-PHON's second effect!"

"Once per turn, I detach 1 material to return 1 monster on the field to the hand!"

"Bounce your 'Yubel – The Loving Defender Forever'!"

"Battle Phase!"

"Direct attack!"

"1300 plus 2900!"

"You're down to 800!"

"....."

After that last chunk of damage, Beloved Yandere had no error tolerance left.

His turn.

Beloved Yandere had only one final turn.

Beloved Yandere: "My turn! Draw!"

Beloved Yandere: "I… end my turn."

"...."

Next turn, Beloved Yandere drew and immediately chose to end.

Seeing this, duelists across the six worlds all stiffened.

This…?

What does that mean?

He didn't draw the key card to break through?

Is it over?

Before the old-guard duelists could react, Wagatsuma Trudia delivered a merciful final strike with Super Starslayer TY-PHON.

Duel over.

Winner: Wagatsuma Trudia.

With the victory, Beloved Yandere slowly revealed the card he drew.

It was a Yubel card that had never appeared all game.

"Yubel – The Ultimate Nightmare."

Seeing that card, every dueling world erupted.

As if it were destiny.

They'd used almost every Yubel ace in the Deck.

Spells and Traps included.

Stage 1, stage 2.

But the stage 3 "Yubel – The Ultimate Nightmare" just happened to be the one missing.

Like the name—the ultimate nightmare...

DM world.

"The bond with the Deck still wasn't enough."

Yugi Muto murmured this single line.

Beside him, Joey Wheeler's mouth twitched.

Not enough bond, huh?

So if Yugi had been playing, would that draw have turned it around?

GX world.

"It's over."

"What a pity—this is Beloved Yandere's Yubel."

"He wanted that card in hand a little too badly."

Jaden Yuki seemed a bit spooked.

Thinking it over, you still gotta be a HERO main, huh.

New players can't go wrong with HERO.

Main world.

Sei Yuki also felt a bit of pity at that draw.

Watching the whole duel, it was obvious both duelists were playing their hearts out.

Setting boards and breaking boards.

Extending and cracking.

Both had pushed to their limits.

Especially that last "three Sacred Beasts fuse to out Underworld Goddess and refuel" line.

But the ridiculous part was that the guy ripped a second Shining Sarcophagus—can you believe it?

And not just that.

It might even be that, in a 40-card Deck, he only ran two copies.

And he saw both.

That's what you call a god-draw.

"Nothing you can do."

"He didn't lose in vain."

"The opponent's showmanship factor was maxed out."

"Hoo… right."

"Looks like I can unlock the last world."

"If I remember right, it's the VRAINS world, yeah?"

"The final Yu-Gi-Oh! anime?"

"The seventh series, Rush Duel, is a different beast."

"I can only hope K-Snake cooks up some new sauce and summoning methods!"

Just thinking about it ticked Sei Yuki off.

Why release Rush Duel—what were they thinking!

Sure, Rush Duel is simple and great for new players.

But who doesn't love spewing first-turn paragraphs so your opponent can't play Yu-Gi-Oh?

Having thought so, Sei Yuki quickly chose to unlock the final dueling world.

[Congratulations to user Sei Yuki for successfully unlocking the VRAINS world!]

[Connecting to the VRAINS world.]

[VRAINS world has successfully joined the group chat.]

[....]

As the string of system messages appeared, Sei Yuki's voice echoed across the VRAINS world ahead of schedule.

Sei Yuki: "I'm glad to unlock your VR realm last."

Sei Yuki: "I'm Sei Yuki, a Duelist from the Higher World. I trust you don't doubt that identity."

In short order, his words spread to every corner of the VR realm.

Yusaku Fujiki's eyes flashed.

Akira Zaizen smiled faintly.

Theodore Hamilton felt a spark of fighting spirit.

It's here?

Duelists of the VR realm actually took it in stride.

You could even say they'd been waiting for this moment for a long time.

Maybe because they're the newest world, their acceptance level was higher than the old guard's.

"Hm? Who are these people?"

"Yugi Muto?"

"Jaden Yuki?"

"DM world?"

"ZEXAL world?"

Beside her, Skye Zaizen quickly noticed other avatar-like duelist info popping up around them.

That gave Skye quite a scare.

Sei Yuki: "Oh, those people are…"

Sei Yuki: "I'll give a quick explanation."

After listening to Sei Yuki's explanation, they finally understood those data tags belonged to duelists from other worlds.
