Chapter 182. Tag-Team of Red Dragon Archfiend & Centurion! Link-6 After Horus's Explosive Swarm
Yusaku Fujiki was wondering whether, along his dueling journey, he had also run into so-called rule-sharking cheaters.
As duelists across the various worlds gained a grasp of the high-tier world's rule-sharking and cheating tricks, quite a few duelists—just like Yusaku—gradually began reflecting on, or rather recalling, the dueling situations in their own worlds.
After this wave of recollection, the group chat exploded with messages.
Dr. Vellian Crowler: "Hey, hey, hey! Jaden Yuki, in your entrance exam—did you pull that 'Skyscraper' out of your pants or what?!"
Jaden Yuki: "Professor, you're wronging me here. I should be the one asking why you can Normal Summon 'Ancient Gear Golem' every single game!"
Seto Kaiba: "Hmph! Yugi, I don't believe a duelist like you would rely on any rule-sharking nonsense… As for that 'Dark Magician' of yours..."
Yugi Muto: "Kaiba! After all our years of dueling—if you're going to say that about me, then I'll have to ask why you always draw three 'Blue-Eyes' with 'Polymerization' ready!"
Yuma Tsukumo: "C'mon, everyone, no need to tense up. Our duel systems are pretty advanced, right? Cheating doesn't exist!"
Yuya Sakaki: "I kinda remember a duelist in our world saying something like, 'Even though it's not written on the card, it can Special Summon!' I forgot who it was!"
In the main world, Sei Yuki watched the flood of group messages with great amusement.
He hadn't expected that watching a few short videos about rule-sharking and cheating would get duelists from all worlds reminiscing and hunting for possible cheaters among themselves.
It had to be said!
The most miraculous top-deck artist… had to be the original series' Yugi Muto, right?
After all, back then, many card rules weren't fully refined.
So plenty of on-the-spot "interpretations" naturally cropped up.
He wondered if there would be a chance later to find some of those moments and watch them.
With that thought, Sei Yuki quickly started searching for the next short video.
Soon enough, his eyes locked onto a tag-team duel video!
"The Bond of Red Dragon Archfiend and Centurion! Breaking the Shackles with The Crimson Dragon and Horus!"
A short title, yet stuffed with a mountain of deck content!
After reading it, Sei Yuki immediately decided on this next video!
At the same time, the video title appeared across the various duel worlds.
Seeing the title finally cooled down the frenzy of hunting for cheaters and rule-sharkers.
Red Dragon Archfiend!
Centurion?
Those two decks were no strangers—they'd appeared before.
And they'd already seen Horus explained and showcased.
So everyone was familiar with these three.
But "The Crimson Dragon"?
What kind of deck was that supposed to be?
Under the bewildered gazes of the old-guard duelists, the duel feed quickly came up!
A-side Duelist: First turn
B Blue Duelist: Second turn
C Red Duelist: Third turn
D Blue Duelist: Fourth turn
Both teams' Life Points: 16,000!
They shared the Field, Graveyard, and banished zone!
A-side Duelist: "All right, we're doing a tag-team duel this time!"
A-side Duelist: "Another showcase packed with prodigies!"
A-side Duelist: "I'll take the first move!"
"When I control no monsters, I can Special Summon 'Crimson Resonator'!"
"Normal Summon 'Bone Archfiend'!"
"Level 4 Bone Archfiend plus Level 2 Tuner Crimson Resonator equals Level 6!"
"Synchro Summon! 'Red Rising Dragon'!"
"Red Rising Dragon activates, reviving 'Crimson Resonator' from the Graveyard!"
"Crimson Resonator activates—Special Summon two 'Synkron Resonator' from the Deck!"
"Level 6 'Red Rising Dragon' plus Level 2 Tuner 'Crimson Resonator' equals Level 8!"
"Synchro Summon! 'Red Dragon Archfiend'!"
"I activate the Continuous Spell 'Crimson Gaia,' use its effect to search 'Red Zone,' then set it!"
"I Special Summon 'Synkron Resonator' from my hand!"
"I tune 1-Star 'Synkron Resonator' with Level 8 'Red Dragon Archfiend'!"
"Level 9 Synchro Summon! 'Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss'!"
"'Synkron Resonator' in the GY activates—I add 'Crimson Resonator' back to hand!"
"'Red Dragon Archfiend' effect—I Special Summon 'Red Dragon Archfiend' from the Extra Deck!"
"When there's a Level 5 or higher DARK monster on the field, I can Special Summon 'Vision Resonator' from my hand!"
"I'll tune two 1-Star 'Synkron Resonator' plus 2-Star 'Vision Resonator' with Level 8 'Red Dragon Archfiend'—a triple tuning!"
"1 + 1 + 2 + 8 = Level 12!"
"The true king descends—right now!"
"'Red Supernova Dragon'!!!"
"Don't rush—there's more!"
"I activate the GY effect of 'Synkron Resonator'!"
"I retrieve 'Vision Resonator'!"
"I activate 'Bone Archfiend' in the GY—discard 'Crimson Resonator' to Special Summon it in Defense Position!"
"I set 1 card!"
"My turn ends!"
The Red Dragon Archfiend's explosive climb once again sent shivers through duelists across all worlds.
Even though they had already witnessed the true boss—Red Supernova Dragon—and the negation-wielding "Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss," seeing it again still made them tremble.
This was the power of the high-tier world's Red Dragon Archfiend!
Lose focus for a second and your brain would short-circuit trying to follow.
Synchro decks—truly hard to parse at every moment!
In 5D's world, the Synchro duelists felt it most keenly.
A triple tuning in one breath!
A smooth triple Synchro!
Was this how Red Dragon Archfiend performed in the high-tier world?
And that Continuous Spell, "Crimson Gaia," looked terrifyingly powerful too!
The king's deck—truly different!
Jack Atlas's previously languid eyes grew sharp.
"It's coming! My soul!"
"My invincible soul!"
"I wonder what kind of opponents my soul will face this time?"
Jack quickly calmed down and refocused on the video.
The turn had passed to the next duelist.
B Blue Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
B Blue Duelist: "Red deck, huh?"
B Blue Duelist: "I Tribute your 'Red Supernova Dragon' and 'Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss'!"
"I'll give you this Level 8 powerhouse in return!"
"Bring them hope!"
"Aideyo! 'Lava Golem'!"
"Then I activate 'Imsety, Glory of Horus' from my hand, sending it and 'Hapy, Vanguard of Horus' to the GY."
"I add the Continuous Spell 'King's Sarcophagus' from my Deck!"
"I activate 'King's Sarcophagus'—discard 'Glow-Up Bulb' and send 'Duamutef, Blessing of Horus' from Deck to the GY!"
"I activate Sarcophagus again—discard another card to send 'Qebehsenuef, Protection of Horus' from Deck to the GY!"
"Now! The might of Horus descends!"
"These four Horus monsters in the GY—"
"All Special Summon themselves without starting a Chain!"
"I enter the Battle Phase!"
"'Hapy, Vanguard of Horus' destroys your Defense Position 'Bone Archfiend'!"
A-side Duelist: "I activate 'Crimson Gaia'!"
A-side Duelist: "I Special Summon 'Red Dragon Archfiend' from the GY in Defense Position!"
B Blue Duelist: "'Imsety, Glory of Horus' destroys your 'Red Dragon Archfiend'!"
A-side Duelist: "Then I activate 'Red Dragon Archfiend'—I Special Summon 'Red Dragon Archfiend' from the Extra Deck in Defense Position!"
B Blue Duelist: "Interesting. Still struggling?"
B Blue Duelist: "'Qebehsenuef, Protection of Horus' destroys your Defense Position Red Dragon Archfiend!"
"And finally, 'Duamutef, Blessing of Horus' attacks—by 'King's Sarcophagus,' your 'Lava Golem' is sent to the GY!"
Wiped.
Completely wiped!
A-side's on-board resources were all cleared by B's plays in one go!
Seeing this, duelists in every world were forced to re-evaluate those Horus monsters.
No—re-evaluate the entire Horus engine!
Something felt off about this engine!
They pulled four bosses from the GY with ease—without starting a Chain!
Even more absurd—no self-lock!
And those four could do… other things too?
That was nasty.
Yes!
Hearing an explanation before hadn't conveyed the full picture.
But seeing it in action, they realized how serious the problem was.
This "coffin" engine was terrifyingly strong!
And this was only the beginning!
B Blue Duelist: "Main Phase 2!"
B Blue Duelist: "I Link the 'Imsety, Glory of Horus' and 'Qebehsenuef, Protection of Horus'!"
"Link-2! 'Dharc the Dark Charmer, Gloomy'!"
"Dharc activates—I take your 'Red Supernova Dragon' from the GY to my field!"
"Dharc and Red Supernova—Link again!"
"Link-3! 'Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians'!"
"I use Selene to place Spell Counters—remove 3 to Special Summon the Spellcaster 'Imsety' from the GY!"
"'Glow-Up Bulb' in the GY—mill the top card to Special Summon itself!"
"I activate 'Link Apple'!"
"I banish 1 random face-down Extra Deck card face-up; if it's a Link Monster, I Special Summon this card."
"I banished 'Linkuriboh'—so I Special Summon 'Link Apple'!"
"And just like that—"
"I've assembled 6 monsters on the field!"
"Arrows confirmed!"
"——"
"Link-6! 'The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister'!"
"My turn ends."
…Huh?
What just happened?
How did this happen?
How did it suddenly become a Link Summon?!
And the Link Monster they made was that familiar old friend—"The Arrival Cyberse @Ignister"!
Massive protection and 6000 ATK!
Wait—so those six materials were all different Attributes?!
At that instant, duelists in DM, GX, 5D's, and beyond finally noticed the Attributes in B's Link line.
DARK "Imsety, Glory of Horus," WATER "Duamutef, Blessing of Horus," WIND "Hapy, Vanguard of Horus."
FIRE "Link Apple," LIGHT "Selene, Queen of the Master Magicians," EARTH "Glow-Up Bulb."
Exactly six. Perfectly six.
Seeing this, the VRAINS duelists broke.
"Damn! What is this? Making a Link-6 is as easy as breathing now? That easy?"
"And even matching six different Attributes! Didn't think that was this simple!"
"I'm numb—this guy's made more Link-6s than I've done Fusions!"
"Horus is actually insane! Four monsters with different Attributes and Types, and no self-lock—absolutely busted!"
The Link specialists around them erupted into a boil of discussion.
And now it was C's turn.
Let's see how they clear a fully powered Arrival!
C Red Duelist: "My turn! Draw!"
C Red Duelist: "I Special Summon 'Level Warrior'!"
C Red Duelist: "I Normal Summon 'Centur-Ion Primera'! Its effect searches the Field Spell 'Stand Up, Centur-Ion!'"
"I activate 'Stand Up, Centur-Ion!' and set 'Centur-Ion Trudea' from the Deck to the Spell & Trap Zone as a Continuous Trap!"
"'Dotscaper' in the GY activates—Special Summon!"
"I Special Summon 'Centur-Ion Trudea,' then set it together with 'Centur-Ion Emeth VI' from Deck in the Spell & Trap Zone!"
"'Centur-Ion Emeth VI' activates—Special Summon!"
"Level 8 'Centur-Ion Emeth VI' plus Level 4 Tuner 'Centur-Ion Primera' equals Level 12!"
"Synchro Summon! 'Centur-Ion Legatia'!"
"I activate 'Sauge de Fleur' from my hand!"
"I Special Summon it, then destroy your 'King's Sarcophagus' and my 'Level Warrior'!"
"I activate the 'Crimson Gaia' my teammate left me—"
"I Special Summon 'Red Dragon Archfiend' from the GY!"
"I Tribute 'Dotscaper' to Special Summon 'Stardust Synchron' from my hand!"
"'Stardust Synchron' adds 'Arrive in Light' from my Deck!"
"I activate the Continuous Spell 'Arrive in Light'!"
"Level 8 'Sauge de Fleur' plus Level 4 Tuner 'Stardust Synchron' equals Level 12!"
"Descend—'The Crimson Dragon'!"
"Chain 1: 'Arrive in Light'! Chain 2: 'The Crimson Dragon'!"
"Crimson Dragon targets my Level 12 'Legatia,' then returns itself to the Extra Deck—Special Summon 'Red Supernova Dragon'!"
"'Arrive in Light' adds 'Stardust Trail' to hand!"
"By 'Red Supernova Dragon'—it gains 500 ATK for each Tuner in my GY!"
"So right now—my Supernova's ATK is 6500!!!"
"This is the bond between me and Aibo!"
"Supernova—attack The Arrival!"
B Blue Duelist: "Oh? Sore wadokana?"
B Blue Duelist: "I activate 'D.D. Crow' from my hand!"
"I banish your 'Synkron Resonator' from the GY!"
"Too bad! We're both going down!!!"
C Red Duelist: "Then I'll go for direct attacks!"
C Red Duelist: "'Legatia'—3000 LP damage!"
"'Red Dragon Archfiend'—3000 LP damage!"
"At the end of the turn—"
"'Legatia' sets 'Centur-Ion Primera' from my GY as a Continuous Trap!"
"Your move!"
C's clutch Centurion explosion turned the tides yet again, making duelists across the worlds change expression.
Good grief!
The Synchro engine was no slouch either!
They casually made a Level 12 boss—like flipping a switch!
They even blended in the Stardust engine!
And it worked brilliantly!
They pulled off The Crimson Dragon into Red Supernova!
So this was the Synchro strength of Centurion, huh?
