Chapter 7 - A Noble Banquet (1)

I soon adapted to my new world. This was all because of my experience with all those lives I've reincarnated into. I learned the basics of this world quick enough. This world is was called 'Turxa'. It had 2 major continents, and 1 minor continent along with several islands that didn't exactly belong to any continent. I was born into a Ducal family named 'Kuronin'. Our family reigned over the Kuronin region, a very large territory in 'Nuxa', one of the major continents.

My father was Duke Vinn Minn Kuronin, one of the 4 dukes of Nuxa. My mother was Cardinal Roselina Lenael Kuronin. She was one of the 6 cardinals of Nuxa. She was also known as the strongest believer of the flame Goddess, Nixa, and was named Saintess of Flames. I was named Vynn Luo Kuronin, and Niko was named Niko Brooknim Kuronin.

Time flew by fast. I trained day and night by developing the mana veins of this new body. I also developed the Aura veins, and even the chi veins. In short, I made my body able to use mana, Aura, chi, divinity, and death. Well, I don't think I'll really use divinity or death, since they were energy used by angels and demon lords. By the time I was 14, Niko was 6'5" feet, while I was only 5'7". Worst thing was that the people of this world were taller than those on Earth. So, I was basically a twerp among my peers. Even that Niko teased me.

I didn't only train my body within that time. I also learned all about skill points and the skill system in the 14 years. I also learned that skill points are earned in near death situations or high exhaustion. So, in short, since I've already died hundreds of thousands of times already, and got into even more near death situations, I stacked up a lot of skill points. So, when I opened my skill system for the first time, I had an 'error' amount of points. And since I was feeling feisty, I purchased the 'skill interest' skill. What the skill basically did was increase my points by my 'soul age÷100' per year.

Eventually, our 15th birthday rolled around. This was a special day for nobles, as this would be the day their children choose what profession they'd have for the rest of their lives. And in noble terms, it was a massive banquet. The most popular professions among nobles were swordsman, knight, spearman, archer, mage, healer, and martial artist.

The noble started and in the middle, our professional selection was held. Niko went ahead first. He picked up the longsword made out of a dragon's fang and scales. Of course, he chose to be a swordsman. I almost got a smile as I thought of the times in our past life when he would swing around a massive stick, calling it a sword.

It was my turn now, and the crowd turned to me with expectant eyes. Those weren't eyes of curiosity, they were eyes of judgement. Some were waiting for me to mess up, while the rest wanted me to be an archer and carry out the family legacy of the Kuronin's bow mastery.

I ignored all their looks and picked up a wooden staff. The wood of the staff was actually a piece of the SSS class tree monster called 'Heaven's Hell'.

The crowd glanced around nervously. They were probably feeling awkward about no Kuronin choosing to be an archer this generation, but a sharp noise cut through. My mother was clapping with a smile of sincere joy. Beside her, my father looked at me with a smile of pride.

But of course, not everyone could accept this. A deep voice cut through. "Son of West! Why did you choose to be a mage?! It is a commonly known fact that the west has barely any books related to magic!!" It was Duke Olslein, the Duke of the Northern Olslein territory. As the family that has produced the best mages for generations, he was definitely angry.

"While I do appreciate the concern, Duke Olslein, I go by the name 'Vynn', not 'Son of West'."

"Don't you ignore my words, you Son of a-"

"Son of a what?" My father's voice cut through, boiling with rage. Either way, what Duke Olslein would've said was going to be insulting either his son or his wife, or both.

The silence that followed was definitely uncomfortable.

"Father, allow me to duel with Vynn Luo Kuronin. As a senior mage, I must atleast do my best to set an example for a junior mage." Yuu Olslein, second son of Duke Olslein said.

"Wow, way to ask to beat someone up on their birthday." I muttered, to which, the crowd also began whispering things about how the Olslein family have fallen.

"Tch! Don't play dumb! It's always a good thing to have duels in banquets! The audience will enjoy it!"

I smirked. "Are you sure about that?" I'm sure I looked like a madman at that time, but I didn't care.

Yuu Olslein gulped but his face went a little pink for a tiny moment. Or maybe I was just imagining stuff.
