Chapter 37 - Ch-37 Dawn

The rising sun rose above the clouds like a shining beacon of a new day—a new beginning.

Its rays lit up the unique swing near the academy, the four huge faces of the Hokages, the Hokage Tower itself—which was currently nearly empty.

It made the guards of Konoha rub their eyes, grumbling something about finally ending their shifts. It made mothers rise, ready to pack up food for their kids.

In a lone house far away in the Uchiha district, an unusually blond-haired Uchiha opened his eyes. He lunged from his bed in a single second, his body tilting and falling on the floor before beginning a push-up exercise.

"One hundred-five," Kyojiro muttered under his breath, his eyes finally relaxing their soreness.

He leaned down again, his chest hovering just above the ground. "One hundred-six."

The push-ups continued until he reached the two-hundred mark—his body now slightly more ready to start the day.

He looked up, his eyes falling on the mirror. His pupils traced the arcs of his body—the well-built legs, the hard-earned abs, the muscles that decorated his chest like a canvas.

Before landing on his eyes—his Sharingan appeared without warning, its photographic memory rewinding through everything like a videotape.

Yet as Kyojiro stared at it, he didn't feel the same.Instead, a small smile graced his face. 'Right… I am not a monster.'The ringing words that haunted his dreams stopped. Instead, now his heart beat steadily—focused on the future.

He turned toward his bathroom, the brush appearing in his hand. 'No more thinking about the past. From now on… I will focus on the present, on today.'

It seemed Kyojiro Uchiha was finally back to himself—maybe even more determined.

. . .

"Hahaha! So, you brat—tired now?" Jiraiya laughed from a tree as he enjoyed the scene in front of him.

Currently, Kyojiro was struggling against the paw of Gamabunta, the large frog summon of Jiraiya. The Uchiha was straining to hold the giant beast for the last two minutes—both locked in a contest of strength.

Jiraiya merely raised an eyebrow as he laughed. 'I put this test to find out his strength in Sage Mode—but that brat is doing better than expected.'

The white-haired Sannin—though he didn't show it—knew very well just how difficult it was to hold one's own against the large toad… even with one hand.

Gamabunta, too, held his kiseru tightly in his mouth, his body straining as he tried to overpower the Uchiha.

The struggle continued for another minute before Kyojiro dashed away from the range of the hand. Seeing no resistance beneath him, Gamabunta relaxed, his arm crashing down with a huge tremor.

The soil cracked. Shockwaves erupted in the area. The large toad held a smug grin as he looked at the Uchiha."You weak ninjas… Jiraiya, next time bring someone who can at least hold their own." His words were mocking.

Kyojiro weakly stood his ground, his eyes shining with determination. 'Once I can use Total Concentration Breathing… I will defeat you.'

Jiraiya leaped down from the tree with a smile on his face."Alright, we understand your speed and your strength. This mode—what do you call it again?"

Kyojiro's hair fluttered in the wind as he answered the one word that came to mind."Full Concentration Breathing."

Jiraiya raised an eyebrow before shaking his head. 'Both my disciples and their weird naming sense…'"Right, anyways—what matters now is understanding your combat ability."

Putting his scroll on the ground with a large thud, he spoke with confidence."Unfortunately for you, that means you gotta face me."

Kyojiro double-taked as he looked at the Sannin. 'Is this guy serious?'

Jiraiya smirked."Don't worry, I'll go easy on you."His words rang like a taunt in Kyojiro's ears.

Kyojiro steeled his heart."Sure. Though I'd ask you to be cautious," his voice a low thrum in the air, "I don't go quite easy even against old men."

. . .

The air shimmered with energy as two men stood against one another, their eyes contrasting—dark red to abyssal black.

Jiraiya smiled, tilting his head."I don't got all day, you brat. Come at me."

Kyojiro, hearing the words, didn't waste a single second. He immediately breathed in, letting vitality fill every single pore in his body. The ground cracked beneath him as he moved.

BOOM!

SWISH!

Gamabunta watched as the little fiery-haired human disappeared from view before reappearing before his summoner.'What terrifying speed,' he thought.

However, the very next second, his eyes widened—

BOOM!

Jiraiya moved with perfect planning. The moment Kyojiro struck, Jiraiya burst into a cloud of smoke. Before realization could settle that Jiraiya had used a shadow clone—the white-haired Sannin appeared right beside the Uchiha.

His fist moved with the force of a truck, immediately thrashing the Uchiha across the field.

Gamabunta nearly winced as he heard the sound of the ground cracking.Unlike what Jiraiya had said—it didn't seem the man was going any easier on the brat.

. . .

Kyojiro gritted his teeth as he looked back. The smirking face of Jiraiya almost brought a tick mark to his head.'This old man… he tricked me.' Before the match had even begun, the man had replaced himself with a shadow clone.

Standing up, he unsheathed his blade.

SWISH!

'Let me show you… what made me able to kill two Jonin.'

His legs parted, his eyes locked in, his lungs expanding with the intake of air.

'Flame Breathing—First Form: Unknowing Fire.'

The shrill sound pierced the air, the figure of Kyojiro moved forward like a comet.

His sword—like an extension of himself—immediately reached the Sannin's neck. Seeing his blade almost effortlessly reach the latter's vital point, Kyojiro nearly paused. 'This isn't life and death—what if he actually dies?'

Yet, unlike how he thought… reality was different.

BOOM!
