Chapter 11 - Chapter 5: Before Registration

Lu Qi was also startled, and he quickly ran into Huichun Hall; hornets don't care who you are.

When he ran inside Huichun Hall, he found Xu Chunliang still standing at the door, looking at the chaotic scene ahead with a contented expression, and he said softly, "I told you to save money for medicine. Brother Lu, call 120 for them."

An elderly voice rang out: "No need to be so complicated. In Dongzhou, when it comes to treating bee venom, our Huichun Hall is second to none."

Xu Changshan walked slowly to the door. In his view, this group of people was just experiencing karma, although he didn't expect it to happen so quickly.

The beehive under the eaves had been there for years, and occasional stings occurred. However, it was the first time the bees launched a full-scale attack like today.

The old man, with his wonderful skill and benevolent heart, couldn't just stand by as these movers had just extorted him. He took out the specially made incense from Huichun Hall, lit it, and handed it to Xu Chunliang and Lu Qi to help disperse the bee swarm.

Lu Qi, summoning his courage, followed the grandfather and grandson to drive away the frantic bee swarm. Before they even got close, the bees scattered, and before long, they had completely disappeared.

Lu Qi thought it was the incense that had worked, but Xu Changshan noticed something unusual about the bee's behavior. There were many passersby at the door, but the bees only targeted the six people from the moving company, leaving others untouched. This seemed odd. Was it really the inevitable cycle of karma?

The movers were stung so much they looked like pig heads, especially the foreman, who seemed to have borne half of the bees' fury, while the other five shared the rest.

The foreman's head was swollen like a pig's head, his eyes swollen into slits, unable to see.

Xu Changshan asked Xu Chunliang and Lu Qi to help bring the six injured individuals into Huichun Hall. The foreman's mouth was swollen from the stings and he mumbled, "I want to go to the hospital, I want to go to the hospital." He was worried about retaliation from Huichun Hall.

Xu Chunliang said, "Go if you want, Grandpa, treat the others first."

Many onlookers followed them in, and there was a lot of chatter, many of them laughing at the foreman. Who around here doesn't know about Elder Xu's medical skills? Ignoring what's nearby for something far away—it seemed the foreman's brain had been damaged by the bee stings.

The first step in treating bee stings is to squeeze the wound to expel some of the broken bee stingers and venom left inside, reducing tissue damage.

Xu Changshan put on his glasses, took the specially made tweezers, and prepared to begin treatment.

Xu Chunliang said, "Grandpa, don't rush. They haven't paid yet."

The stung workers were itchy and in pain, only thinking about quickly relieving their suffering, not caring about the money, they all said vigorously, "We'll pay, we'll pay."

"Whatever the cost, we won't default."

Xu Chunliang patted the foreman's shoulder, "Where's the money?"

The foreman, knowing the situation, quickly took out the thousand yuan nutrition fee he had extorted from the old man and returned it unconditionally.

Xu Chunliang wasn't satisfied, "It's still a bit short."

The foreman had no choice but to return the moving fee as well. It was no good for him; he got nothing and ended up with swollen welts.

Xu Changshan had already started the treatment, using small tweezers to pick out each of the bee stingers left in the wounds while squeezing out the venom.

Xu Chunliang watched from the side. After all, the old man was getting on in years; his hands were a bit shaky during the operation, and his eyesight wasn't great, so it took quite a bit of time. He didn't step in to help.

The treatment for this kind of bee venom was quite simple. In the past, he would place his palm on the wound and use the energy-absorbing inner strength to suck out the needle and venom, which was a hundred times more efficient than his grandpa. However, now he had almost lost all his inner strength and couldn't freely use the energy-absorbing power.

During this time, Xu Chunliang had been reading many of the books in Huichun Hall's collection and learned about some ancestral secret recipes. To him, these secret recipes were quite ordinary, but in today's dwindling traditional Chinese medicine culture, they were already invaluable. Otherwise, Huichun Hall's reputation wouldn't be so well known, and his grandpa wouldn't have earned the title of intangible cultural heritage inheritor.

Xu Changshan spent two hours removing all the stingers from several people. Following his instructions, Xu Chunliang used saline solution and hydrogen peroxide to repeatedly wash the injured areas.

After debridement, they applied Huichun Hall's exclusively formulated snake medicine powder, composed mainly of the Seven-leafed One-Flowered Plant, toad skin, centipede, and ground covering grass, which was very effective in treating snake and insect bites.

Once the powder was applied, the effects were immediate. The affected areas of the patients soon stopped itching, and the mildly affected individuals could move freely. Even the severely stung foreman's face started to reduce swelling. Although he still looked like a pighead, at least he could see through the slits in his eyes.

Lu Qi wasn't idle either. While helping, he called 119, asking the firefighters to remove the large hornet's nest, as keeping it there was a potential hazard.

After treating six patients in a row, Elder Xu didn't charge much and let the movers go back and rest. Although they had a change of heart and wanted to help finish moving the remaining items for Huichun Hall, the old man politely declined.

Lu Qi then helped contact another moving company and, together with Xu Chunliang, moved the rest of the items to the new location. After everything was done, Lu Qi brought up the topic of buying medicine. The old man gave him the ointment but firmly refused to accept money. Lu Qi had no choice but to secretly leave three hundred yuan and only informed Xu Chunliang after he left.
