In the study, Ethan Hayes finally finished all the test papers and let out a long sigh of relief. He looked up and his gaze fell on the pink octopus ball on the table. After hesitating for a moment, he reached out and picked it up.
The plush little octopus felt soft and cuddly in his palm. Looking at the little octopus, Ethan couldn't help but think about Vivian York, who participated in the competition this afternoon. He wondered how her match went and contemplated whether he should call to ask.
After a brief internal struggle, Ethan finally took out his phone, found Vivian York's number, and dialed it.
The phone rang several times, but no one answered.
Ethan frowned slightly, took the phone away from his ear, looked at it, hung up, and then dialed again.
He silently counted the monotonous "beep-beep" sounds in his earpiece: one, two, three, four, five...
After a long wait, the call was finally answered with, "Hello??"
