"Thanks to NatureBlack for the Governor tier! You're way too generous, boss! After stream I'll… oh wait, we already added each other on LINE."
Grey remembered how N had dropped a full 180,000 last time and added, "Including last time, I owe you two dinners when you come to Kanto."
[Huh? All I have to do is get Governor and the streamer will take me out to eat?!]
[Profit maxed! You get to eat with the streamer! If you can slip a few questions in over dinner, you'd practically be printing money!]
[Am I the only one who thinks this spiel sounds familiar? Have you been secretly watching girl streamers lately, Grey? Even the 'Governor gets dinner' line is the same!]
[Is there a Captain pic-pack + Polaroid set?]
[Can Admirals request specific cosplays?]
[What do you even want him to cosplay? Gardevoir?]
[Make him cosplay Lopunny. His legs are long enough, might actually work.]
"?"
Watching the barrage of messages fly by, Grey's brain went bzzz.
What the hell?
Were his viewers always this unhinged?
How do you go from dinner to "cosplay Lopunny"?
It wasn't like his audience had just become degenerates overnight—but even for them, this was a new level.
Too bad he didn't have time to screenshot it.
Otherwise, he'd absolutely save it.
Maybe compile everything into a deluxe edition later.
"Riooo~" (So what'd you call me out here for? Don't tell me it's just to wave like an idiot.)
Little Riolu finished off the bun in its hand, wiped the grease onto its own fur, and squinted at Grey with a gloomy tone.
"Come on, say hi to the big boss. You too, Riolu."
Grey grabbed a Riolu in each hand and held them up toward the camera, motioning for them to wave at N.
As he spoke, he used Aura to explain to little Riolu:
"Mew, did you see that ship that just took up half the screen? That gift means you can eat your fill of meat buns every day for a whole month!"
Little Riolu: ?!
Grey's explanation worked like a charm.
Anyone who could let it eat meat buns to its heart's content for a whole month was, by definition, a good person.
"Riooo!" (Hello, boss! Boss, you're amazing! Riolu, come thank the big boss too!)
Deciding its own thanks alone weren't efficient enough, little Riolu glanced at the completely lost Riolu, grabbed its paw, and started shaking it up and down.
"Rio…lu!" (Th-thank you!)
Riolu had no idea what to say, but it still followed along and stammered out a thanks.
[What just happened? Why'd he suddenly upgrade to Governor?]
[Is "Riolu" some kind of secret code? Why do you give Governor the moment it appears?]
[Don't tell me this is another Giovanni-style embezzling-the-company-funds situation? No way, right, boss?]
[?]
[Hahahaha, someone's gonna get caught badmouthing Gym Leader Giovanni. When you go to Viridian Gym later, don't get recognized~]
"Thank you, streamer."
After saying those five words, N cut the call.
No one knew what had just happened.
All they knew was that some very unusual big spender had taken one look at Riolu, then dipped.
It felt like those obviously scripted "plants" people used to hype a show up, right down to the rhythm.
Otherwise, who would drop that kind of cash just to look at a Riolu…
If you had that kind of spare money lying around, wouldn't it be easier to buy a bunch of Ultra Balls or Luxury Balls and go catch your own?
Then again…
This was Grey's Riolu. The one with Gluttony and Thick Fat, basically a dog-shaped Snorlax.
If it wasn't eating, it was on its way to eat.
Nine times out of ten, whenever it appeared on stream, you'd see its muzzle dripping in oil.
But it was so small that even with all that eating, its body still stayed tiny. If you didn't know better, you'd almost think Grey was underfeeding it.
After watching the stream for so long, everyone knew: this little Riolu was just blessed with a "eat like crazy and never gain weight" body.
You couldn't even see a belly on it.
Viewers could only stare in envy.
True gospel for every chubby viewer out there.
[Anyway, whatever about that boss. Streamer, what's the deal with your Articuno?]
[Yeah! That shot of you riding on Articuno's back was way too cool!]
[By the way, can we get photos of Articuno? I seriously just want to see it! I'll pay extra!]
With N gone and chat drifting back to last night's photos, most people turned their attention to Articuno.
This was a Legendary Pokémon.
You didn't even need to say how rare it was—this was the kind of thing you saw on mural paintings.
For a normal Trainer, just finding a Dratini—one of the pseudo-legendary lines—would be enough to make them burn incense in thanks. No one expected there'd be someone like this in Kanto.
A Fighting-type Dojo Master, Grey, had actually caught a Legendary Flying-type Articuno!
It sounded weird at first.
But once you remembered this was Kanto, it made sense.
This was clearly all the Kanto Elite Four's fault for setting a bad example.
Dragon, Ghost, Fighting, Ice?
Flying, Poison, Rock, Water!
"Photos of Articuno, huh? I'd actually have to ask Articuno if it's okay. My other Pokémon don't really care either way, but with Articuno… I've never actually asked."
Grey felt that he needed Articuno's consent for this.
Using a Legendary bird Pokémon to cash in might make a ton of money in both the short and long term, but if Articuno wasn't willing, then it just wasn't right.
"Freeee?" (Oh~ so these humans want to admire Grandpa Articuno's majestic beauty, do they? Fine by me—but Grandpa Articuno's appearance fee is very steep, you know~)
Articuno burst from its Ultra Ball and spread its wings, ice crystals drifting down from between its feathers. Viewers on the other side of the screen couldn't help but collectively suck in a breath.
[Sssshaa—so this is Articuno's terrifying presence? I can feel the chill through the screen, this is actually insane!]
[Um… huh?! Dojo Master Grey, when did you even catch Articuno? How did I miss this?!]
[Who's that? How is she just talking so casually with the streamer—wait, no way, that's ELITE FOUR LORELEI?!]
[Lorelei, I'm a huge fan!!]
[Lorelei! Look here, look here!!]
The audience's attention once again got completely stolen by Lorelei.
Compared to Articuno, a lot of them were way more into Lorelei herself.
Big-sis types were just too powerful.
Who cared about Articuno?
Articuno was already caught by Grey; they'd get to see plenty of it from now on.
But Lorelei was different.
She almost never posted videos on her social accounts, and now here she was, personally sending messages in Grey's chat—no wonder her fans were losing their minds.
It had turned into a full-blown live idol meet-and-greet.
[Alright darlings, enjoy the stream. I'm just dropping off a gift before I go do some official work. Bye-bye~ (upgraded to Governor)]
"Big thanks to IceLorelei for the Governor tier! Lorelei, if you ever have time to come by Saffron City, dinner's on me."
After thanking her, Grey's words only made everyone feel like he was humblebragging like crazy.
Beautiful Elite Four big sis buys Governor > and you still get dinner with her?
Why did every good thing in this world happen to Grey?!
[Oh right, streamer—if we want to battle your Articuno, what do we do?]
