Chapter 78 - Promise — The Changed Zhu Zhuqing

"Wuhun oath!"

Hearing Wukong swear upon his Wuhun, Ye Lingling's heart trembled in shock.

If he were lying, he would never make such a venomous oath.

On the Douluo Continent, everyone had the same belief — Wuhun and strength are everything.

To swear upon one's most precious Wuhun meant absolute sincerity and truth.

That alone proved that the man before her was not deceiving her.

"I believe you," Ye Lingling said softly.

Wukong slowly released her jade-like hand.

"But…"

This was, after all, a taboo that had bound a great sect for thousands of years — how could it just be lifted so easily?

"There's no 'but,'" Wukong interrupted.

"Even if my current power hasn't recovered, didn't you say there's another way?"

"You mean that Haitang Secret Realm of yours. As long as one passes through that so-called secret realm, the family curse can be broken, right?" Wukong asked.

"Yes, but that place is extremely dangerous. I told you before, even legendary experts at the Titled Douluo level have all perished inside."

"And according to the elders in my family, there are terrifying soul beasts within."

Every time Ye Lingling mentioned the Haitang Secret Realm, her heart shivered in fear.

As a child, she had once witnessed it.

At the entrance of that secret realm, someone had desperately tried to run out — only to be swallowed whole by a massive, vine-like eight-headed serpent.

The stench of its mouth and the sight of its blood-soaked fangs still haunted her to this day. Every memory screamed at her: The Haitang Secret Realm is not a place you should go. It's far too dangerous.

"Terrifying soul beasts?" Wukong's interest was immediately piqued.

"Can you describe what kind they are?"

"Mm." She nodded lightly and began to recount what she knew.

There were creatures resembling Yamata no Orochi, dragons, emaciated humanoid beings, and enormous vines stretching endlessly.

"Emaciated humanoid beings?" Wukong blinked.

Wait a second… that sounds exactly like SCP-096!

Then Ye Lingling continued, telling Wukong about the many powerful figures who had challenged the Haitang Secret Realm over the centuries.

As he listened, Wukong realized something — all the so-called Titled Douluo she mentioned were barely that: newly advanced, with the strongest being level 92.

That's it? What a joke.

Against his Super Saiyan form, anyone under level 95 would be crushed instantly.

Seems like that Haitang Secret Realm wasn't so impressive after all.

"A Titled Douluo failing doesn't mean I will," Wukong said with a grin.

"A man should never say he can't do it! That's my creed."

"Don't worry. I'll help you break that curse — I promise."

He thumped his chest with a clenched fist as he made his vow to Ye Lingling.

"Then… we'll forfeit this match," she said softly. "It's not right to discuss such matters during competition anyway."

"If you have time later… could we talk alone?"

The moment he heard that, excitement surged through Wukong like lightning.

"Of course — anytime."

The gentle little lamb was actually inviting him out? That meant her wariness toward him had faded considerably.

The horn of victory was about to sound — conquering the Nine Heart Haitang Family was only a matter of time. Soon, he'd be free to wander the world, untouchable and unstoppable.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Soul Arena, a blue and purple pair faced off in battle.

Yu Tianheng, at level 39, was still nursing injuries from Wukong's earlier Thousand-Year Kill. Though wounded, his raw physical power still far exceeded Zhu Zhuqing's.

But strength alone didn't decide everything — not when facing a sensitive attack-type like her.

Relying on her Bukūjutsu (Air Dance Technique) and soul ring advantage, Zhu Zhuqing relentlessly suppressed Yu Tianheng, grinding him into the ground.

Ye Lingling watched awkwardly as Yu Tianheng was utterly one-sidedly beaten. Her support role seemed completely useless.

Still, in just one battle, she had found a clue — a possible method to break her clan's curse. That alone made Yu Tianheng's beating worth it.

Zhu Zhuqing, on the other hand, remained completely uninjured. She fought with the precise combat methods Wukong had taught her earlier.

In short —

Hit and run!

That bizarre hit-and-dash tactic drove Yu Tianheng insane with fury. Every time he tried to counterattack, she was already gone.

And worst of all — she was attacking him from the air.

"Come down here if you dare! Let's fight fair and square!" Yu Tianheng roared in rage.

"Hmph." Zhu Zhuqing sneered coldly.

"As expected of a great sect's pampered disciple. Spoiled and soft — you're just a big baby."

She had always despised this type of privileged brat.

Yes, she too came from a noble clan, but she had never experienced warmth, never known familial love, never lived like a true young lady.

It wasn't until she met Wukong that everything changed.

Before him, Zhu Zhuqing had been nothing more than a cold, mechanical fighter.

"I'm a sensitive attack-type, and you're a power attack-type. You want me to fight you head-on?"

"Are you stupid or suicidal?"

She was honestly baffled — no sane person would agree to such nonsense.

Watching from the sidelines, Wukong chuckled.

"Just as I thought. My little cat's heart has finally opened up. She's still cold, still detached, but she's getting better at talking to people."

His guidance hadn't been in vain.

He felt proud — like a father watching his daughter grow up.

Zhu Zhuqing: "…"

"Third Soul Skill!" Zhu Zhuqing's figure flickered suddenly.

She teleported behind Yu Tianheng — the soul ring she'd obtained after immense effort had granted her this powerful ability.

Of course, teleportation had its limits.

Still, Yu Tianheng didn't even react in time. His reflexes were pitiful.

Brute strength with no brains — that was him, just like that waste of space Dai Mubai.

Actually, no — Dai Mubai was a little better. At least he was just arrogant.

Yu Tianheng was both arrogant and conceited — a combination that was downright unbearable.

If he weren't the heir of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, someone would've already beaten him bloody.

Ssshhh!

Zhu Zhuqing's ten-centimeter claws tore across his back in a single swipe.

Her speed was so great she landed several more strikes before he could even turn.

In moments, Yu Tianheng's back was shredded into a bloody mess. Some female spectators even fainted at the sight.

The male spectators, however, were thrilled — their blood boiling with excitement.

"Haha! Finally, someone's putting these great sect snobs in their place!"

"Exactly! They strut around like they own the world. Watching them get beaten down feels amazing!"

"That's the thing about sect disciples — all resources, no substance. A bunch of privileged weaklings wasting what others could've earned!"
