Chapter 122: Beast Tide [Bonus 1/2]
It had been five days since all the surviving candidates were summoned back to their respective cities and informed of the abrupt termination of the trial.
At first, the announcement sparked complete chaos. People shouted, protested, and demanded answers; many outright refused to believe.
But eventually, the noise died down when the reality set in.
Only thirty percent of the candidates were still alive.
The once-crowded city now felt strangely empty.
Public bathhouses that once forced people to wait in long, steamy queues were suddenly spacious, their tiled halls echoing with footsteps.
Shops no longer ran out of stock. Shelves remained full, and supplies could be purchased without standing in line.
Everything felt quieter. Calmer.
The survivors were also informed that a beast tide would soon occur, triggered by the same "unknown" reason that had forced the trail's cancellation.
