A momentary silence settled over the group.
"Rank 1004…?" Lily muttered, blinking in confusion.
"Why would he challenge someone ranked 994?" she continued, frowning. "Shouldn't he be challenging Rank 1003 or something?"
Leo crossed his arms, his gaze steady as he thought it through.
"He's probably after the bonus points," he said. "Normally, when you defeat the person directly above you in rank, you simply swap your rankings and points. But if you challenge someone who is at least ten tanks above you, the rank gap gets multiplied by 1000 points. Since Miho is exactly ten ranks above him, he'll earn an extra 10,000 points if he wins."
He paused briefly before adding, "That's only before our term begins, though. Once the term starts and everyone's points reset, the 1000-point multiplier will disappear."
Lily's expression slowly turned thoughtful.
