"By the way," Leo said, snapping Leon out of his thoughts, "from the way you described it, soul-damaging attacks sound extremely lethal. So why does the academy even allow them?"
Leon let out a slow exhale before replying.
"The academy allows anything that can be fixed—and that includes soul damage." He paused briefly. "And the Birel family, was it? Their techniques only cause temporary damage to the soul. So, don't expect any action from the academy."
His voice lowered slightly.
"I've heard that, just like this girl, many other students were beaten the same way by that guy."
Leo raised an eyebrow.
"So you're telling me that all those students will have to live with those scars for the rest of their lives?"
"Most likely," Leon gave a faint shrug. "Unless they can afford some high-grade cosmetic-type treasure to heal them. And the same might be the case with this girl…"
His gaze lingered on Miho.
"…assuming you're here just for a fluke."
