Chapter 169 - Chapter 170: I Am Donquixote Doflamingo!

Who am I?

Fufufufufu…

I am Donquixote Doflamingo!

Once, I was a god, a Celestial Dragon walking among men.

Back then, the world was my playground.

The Red Line beneath my feet was sacred ground, and the ones living on that blue planet below were nothing more than livestock that happened to talk.

Their lives, their dignity, their wealth were all toys at the whim of my thoughts.

I looked down on them the way one looks down on filthy ants. Their sobbing and pleading were the sweetest background music of my childhood.

Father.

That man, Donquixote Homing, foolish beyond saving.

He abandoned the status of a god. He took Mother, me, and Rosinante, filled with a laughable fantasy about "humanity," and walked down from that holy land in the clouds.

With his own hands, he pushed us out of heaven and into the deepest, foulest hell!

"God" became "human."

No, we were not even human.

We were "fallen gods," the perfect outlet for the rage of those wretches.

The feeling of being hung on a wall while flames scorched my skin, I remember it.

The moment arrows pierced my body and the warmth of blood running down, I remember it.

Those peasants who once crawled at my feet used their spit, their stones, and their endless hatred to tell me again and again,

Weakness is original sin!!

Mother died in pain and sickness.

Rosinante, that idiot, could only cry.

Only I, in that endless suffering and humiliation, awakened Conqueror's Haki.

I understood.

The one at fault was not me. It was this world!

The one at fault was the father who dragged me into hell!

So I killed him with my own hands.

I carried his severed head, convinced I could trade it for everything I had lost and return to Mary Geoise.

But those lofty "compatriots" looked at me like I was trash.

They feared me. They rejected me. They treated me as a freak that had tainted the blood of the gods.

In that instant, I understood completely.

Heaven would not take me back, and I had no intention of groveling in hell.

If so, then I would overturn everything with my own hands!

Fufufufufu…

I built the Donquixote Family.

Trebol, Diamante, Vergo, Pica… monsters abandoned by the world found their home with me.

They worshiped me as king, willing to offer everything to my ambition!

Step by step, I climbed.

With schemes, with violence, with those invisible strings, I manipulated one nation after another, played with one powerhouse after another.

I became "JOKER," the emperor of the underworld!

I thought I had reached a very high place.

Until that man appeared.

Aaron Kael.

The first time I saw him, I thought he was powerful, yes, but also a lunatic with something wrong in the head.

He was strong, absurdly strong, but so what? On this sea, strong men are never rare.

I could use him, cooperate with him, and if necessary, stick a knife in his back.

That was my rule for survival.

But… everything slipped beyond my control.

He saw through every mask I wore with ease. In his eyes, my ambition was nothing but a child's scribbles.

And in a way I could not understand, he strapped me tightly to his chariot.

I became his subordinate.

Humiliating?

Of course.

I am the Heavenly Yaksha, a king destined from birth. How could I bow beneath another?

I endured. I searched for an opening, for a single thread that could cut through his control.

Until he told me he was going to Mary Geoise, to that place I both hated and craved, to turn it upside down.

In that instant, my heart almost stopped.

Shock? Ecstasy?

No, those words were too thin.

It was a desire lit from the deepest part of my soul, a desire to destroy everything.

He was going to do what I had always wanted to do, what I had never dared to do!

When the fire truly rose into the heavens in the Holy Land, when I saw those Celestial Dragons who used to swagger like gods scattering like pigs and dogs, when I controlled their guards and made them slaughter each other, listening to their screams and wails…

Fufufufufu… fufufufufu!

An exhilaration unlike anything I had ever known flooded my entire body!

This was what I wanted! This was the scene I had dreamed of!

I thought this was the limit of what Kael could give me.

A splendid revenge. A glorious humiliation of the World Government.

Then I saw them.

The Five Elders.

Those five who stood at the peak of the world's power, five monsters who had looked down on all life like gods for eight hundred years.

When they descended in inhuman forms, I felt it.

Fear from the marrow of my bloodline.

Despair from being crushed by a higher order of life.

Just the aura they released was enough to make my soul tremble.

My prideful strength, my ambition, my schemes, all of it was as fragile as paper before them.

I understood. This was the world's true face.

Everything I had done before was nothing but a clown's dance, thinking myself clever on a chessboard drawn by gods.

I despaired.

So that wall was something I could never cross.

Kael was dead for sure!

No one could fight monsters like that, not one, let alone five.

And yet…

What did I see?

Kael… smiled.

Facing those five gods, he wore a grin even more arrogant than mine, more unrestrained than mine.

He attacked first.

Light waves, lightning, slashes… with his own strength alone, he fought four of the Five Elders.

That was no longer a battle.

It was the reenactment of myth, the collision of disasters.

The Red Line cracked under their clash. The sky changed color under their power.

I watched Saint Saturn's legs get severed, only to regenerate in the blink of an eye.

I watched Saint Peter's enormous sand-worm body get shaken out of the ground by Kael, then split cleanly in two.

I watched Saint Mars's black flames smashed down by a meteor.

I watched Saint Warcury's charge stopped head-on.

My mind went blank.

Everything I believed, everything I called common sense, was shattered in that moment, ground to dust.

So… gods could be hurt.

So… gods could be challenged by mortals!

No. Kael was not a mortal.

He was something above gods…

A Demon King!

When that dark domain that devoured all light and sound unfolded, I even stopped breathing.

"Silence."

In that absolute void, time and space lost meaning.

Four Five Elders, those invincible monsters, froze like insects trapped in amber, unable to move.

Then Kael drew his blade.

One slash. Two. Three. Four.

The domain shattered, and blood burst from those four gods.

I saw pain on their faces.

I heard the muffled groans torn from them by agony.

Gods… bled.

That image made me tremble and rejoice more than the sea of flames in Mary Geoise, more than the wailing of the Celestial Dragons ever could!

At the end, that black-gold dragon-shaped slash that split heaven and earth collided with the Five Elders' combined attack.

The entire world fell silent under that strike.

I thought he was dead.

In a tide of destruction like that, no one could survive.

But he walked out of the smoke and dust, those golden eyes burning with a madness fierce enough to set the whole world aflame.

He won!

No… he did not even treat it like a fight to the death.

He was just… playing.

He took a life-and-death battle against the world's highest power and treated it like a thrilling game!

Now I understand.

I understand completely.

A king?

Fufufufufu…

The throne I chased my whole life is laughable before this man.

To hell with Pirate King, to hell with emperor of the underworld!

Follow him.

Only by following him can I see higher scenery.

Only by following him can I churn this rotten world until it flips upside down!

Only by following him can I truly… destroy everything!

My strings were once the power I took pride in, the tool I used to control the world.

But now, willingly, I hand the thickest, toughest string to that man.

Let him control me!

Let him guide me!

I am Donquixote Doflamingo.

I am the Heavenly Yaksha. I am JOKER.

From today on, I am also Aaron Kael's most loyal, and most insane dog.

Fufufu… fufufufufu!

World, tremble!

Because the real storm has only just begun!
