Chapter 12 - Broken Bones

Andre screamed as he whisped through the air, cutting at insane speeds. "Damn you, Iron, curse you and everyone to hell! Fuck I don't even know why he did this. That bastard wants to leave me with only one bullet." Andre swiftly grabbed his pockets as he took a handful of metallic round balls. They were ammunition during the old days, when they used sluggish muskets instead of rifles, and since they technically counted as bullets, he used them to propel him self towards the Giant. Whisking past Kirin, who chuckled with Sam as they saw him flying, he dove towards the roaring behemoth. The Giant quickly noticed him, as it went for a heavy swing, Andre gritted his teeth, tossing two pellets down and barely missing the strike. "God damn, you seriously got anger issues, I'm not even the main threat!" he screamed as another large lightning strike rained down onto the giant, paralysing him for one second. The second was all Andre needed, as soon as the giant looked aghast at the constant barrage of strikes it had taken, each accumulating more damage, Andre propelled once more into its maw, slipping into its body. Andre tumbled once he hit the roof of the giant's mouth, falling through the hollow esophagus. Andre screamed as he scrambled to find the remaining pellets. As he felt the surface rushing closer and closer, he felt the metallic sign of hope, and he launched them downwards, slowing down his descent. Unfortunately, his landing was far from graceful, as he slammed down onto the cold golden surface.Andre coughed violently, spitting a bit of blood as he sighed hoarsely, "Yep, I definitely broke a lot of ribs throughout that shit." He sighed, looking around for where he was. "Well, I'm far from where I'm supposed to be, damn it...." he sighed as he got up, holding his chest. He went to the nearest wall, closing his eyes, and concentrated mana to the tips of his fingers, dispersing it throughout. He could feel the intricate routes of the giant's body, which seemed a lot larger than it was from the outside. "A spatial curse? It would explain a lot, especially why Noa wasn't able to handle this bumbling bastard, and it's way more complicated than what Ms Mayella told me. Actually, I don't think I'm that far from the core. Hold on a little longer, guys. This should be just a few seconds. He grudgingly rushed through the golden canals, quickly dismissing any self-defence that the giant may have imposed. He ducked once more before sliding down one more golden tunnel, launching out into an open cavern with incandescent red light. Andre smirked as he rolled, landing gracefully, "Much better." He looked up as he saw a beating red crystal, jagged spikes growing from its glowing center. He sighed as he took the revolver and his bullet, gripping the handle with undying strength. He breathed deeply, taking aim at its weakest mark, and making sure there were no interferences, he took his shot. He took no risks.Suddenly, however, the bullet ricocheted off a golden wall, bouncing off with ferocious velocity as it exploded behind Andre. Andre's mouth dropped, as he violently cursed, he chucked the revolver at the golden wall, "Oh, you gotta be fucking with me, doesn't matter, I will smash it to bits anyway!" He rushed towards the core; however, before he could, the wall shifted, turning into the titanic executioner Andre had faced before. Andre halted, gritting his teeth, "Oh, this fucker again, just screw my luck at this point." Andre shifted around the knight, looking carefully at its actions. It seemed to recognize him as well, staring coldly into Andre's eyes. Andre devilishly grinned as he bore a blood red knife, its jagged edges ruining Andre's back pocket, "Alright then, you little shit, let's dance, round 2."The two of them rushed at each other, but as the executioner was about to chop Andre's head off, Andre ducked and rushed past it. He bolted toward the core, completely ignoring his adversary. The executioner stopped, but before it could do anything, Andre smirked, "Hah, dumbass, you really thought I would come at ya, I know you're just part of that damn red grape." Andre launched his dagger at the core before the knight could grab his collar. As the knife flew, it hissed a flare, hitting the dead center of the core.Suddenly, a red flash burst in the room, seconds later, carpet bombing throughout the giant concurred......................................................................Warren scowled as he looked upon the dust and cloudy horizon. He couldn't stay in the same room as those vile wretches, nor could he take action. He only watched helplessly as the children he had become so dearly fond of were out there risking their lives to save disgusting people. The irony of such a high governmental position is that he has had less influence than when he was just a common warrior, and he had started seeing that very recently.

"God, I wish I could just go back home...my wife and kids haven't seen me for months. I hope Darius is doing well, although I guess Ana is still pretty strict on the boy....I want to go home, god damn it." He sighed, taking out a cigarette. Before he could light it, however, a man in a black cossack with dark blue lining approached him, his white hair fluttering in the wind and his tanned skin glistening, contrasting the barren wasteland. "You've been wishing quite a bit from the hands of Arelia today, Warren. Is something truly troubling you?" Warren looked at the Archbishop, startled, tossing his cigarette away, "Oh, good morning, your holiness, it's nothing actually, just more reminiscent." The Archbishop chuckled, sighing, "Warren, you've confessed quite a lot in the church while I still worked in the capital and you were a common soldier, some would say I know more about you than even you do." Warren squinted his eyes, "You know more than anyone does in this godforsaken place, so spare me the details and get to whatever divine wisdom you have, I'm too soury to listen anyway." The Archbishop sighed as he looked to the horizon with warren. "You know, you should probably leave this town. I'm surprised you even chose this post to begin with." Warren sighed, "It wasn't really a choice, my wife's brother is here, and I'm trying to get him out. Sadly, Rodney is being a little bitch about that; he can't even lose one slave out of all of his workforce." He flared another cigarette, completely ignoring the holiness beside him. The Archbishop smirked as he gave him a side eye, "Hmm? Getting comfortable already when I'm around, do you consider me such a relative?" Warren glares at him, sighing, "Come on, let's not fuck around, Loren, we both know it's only a matter of time before we are trying to kill each other, I'm just letting loose knowing today isn't the day." Loren doesn't react, simply staring into the distance. "You seem so sure that we will have another war like before, although the church seems to have pacified. I think it'll be quite a long time before it happens." Warren laughed, bellowing through the mountains before looking at him comedically, "Really, with our current monarchy, please the Ebonhearts were wiped out because the Aureliahearts couldn't let their ego get checked, those motherfuckers are the pettiest I've ever seen. You think their greed is satisfied?"Loren sighed, nodding, "I suppose so, but what does that have to do with the church? We are more neutral in the matter if I don't say so myself." Warren smiled as he looked back at him. "Oh, please, everyone knows the Aureliahearts have the church's support, after Diego, you may as well put the mask down." Loren hadn't deferred though, choosing to remain calm, "If that's what you claim, I have no reason to rebut. Still, I think that's a bold claim; we are fair and equal to all. I can see your reasoning, however, and yes, you're right." He turned to walk towards Warren, whispering only a few words to him, "It would be wise to watch your back for now, your family may be safe, but soon enough, his highness may come after him. You're glad I haven't been given an order otherwise." Warren chuckled as Loren left, smiling, "How condescending your holiness." In the distance, only explosions could be heard, as red flares bloomed from the wisps of the ashes, an explosion...unprecedented in the town of Uru. .....................................................................Steph had run quite a distance to get back to the others. There she saw Ariana sitting on top of a small boulder, seemingly a bit worried for the others after the massive amounts of explosions. Steph sighed as she slowly approached, hoarsely flopping onto the ground. "Why...did y'all...have to run...so much." Ariana had just noticed her startled "Oh, I'm so sorry, we must have missed you along the way." Steph dissmissevly waved at her, sighing, "No, it's okay, this whole thing was a mess anyway...You're worried, aren't you?" Steph said while chuckling. Ariana sighed, kicking a pebble slightly to the edge. "I mean, why wouldn't I? I only really helped so much, and after the succession of red suns, what am I supposed to think? Could they survive that?" Steph rolled a bit as she looked to the sky, "Well, to be honest, sometimes I feel the same way. I usually stay back, because well, you can see for yourself, and honestly, Andre never lets me do shit by myself, almost like a big brother, it's sickening. Sometimes, I wish I could just pray for another gift and take my ass down there with them as well,but...." as she looked down, they could see the crater, and out of the fog from the whole encounter, a cohort of bloody and bruised, but ultimately alive, workers, smiling and patting each other, carryign a few unconcious individuals. Steph smiled, "Sometimes, I think they don't need me, I mean, look at them, they have to be fucking Immortal."
